Chapter 12

CHAPTER 1,

"What happened? How's your talk with the council?" I sat on the bench in front of Eula, and started eating. She looks so devastated right now so I'm guessing it didn't go well.

"I-i'm no longer part of it. Those eight years I worked my ass off, my hard work to be in this position..." she looked so tired and sad but she's not crying. She smiled sadly at me and bit her burger.

"That's totally fine! I can train you to be a racer too, right?" I tried cheering her up. She looked at me in disbelief before letting out a chuckle.

"I'm not like you, Florence. I have zero interest in racing," she said slumped her hands down on the table.

I pouted, "Then what about you study witchcraft?" I joked. She threw me a glare which I returned with a peace sign.

"ALL CONTENDERS, PLEASE PROCEED TO THE THEATRE ROOM. I REPEAT, ALL CONTENDERS, PLEASE PROCEED TO THE THEATRE ROOM." the intercom announced. I sighed and stood up. Eula did too.

"You can go first, I just have to make a call." I eyed her suspiciously.

"Don't tell me you have a boyfriend already?! You are so secretive!" I exclaimed. Her eyes widened and she immediately pinched my nose.

"Silly, I have to make a call for mom." She said and laughed. I rolled my eyes and turned my back. Today is the final suicide cup event. I will prove to Eula that I'm more than just a rebellious teenager and I will make sure to win!

I headed to the theatre room. The two contenders were already lined up. I sighed and nervously walked in their direction. None of us has an idea of what is going to happen. Our fates in this game depend on the emotion detector.

I stiffened when I felt something stuck the back of my neck. I tilted my head and flinched when I felt it stung. But a few seconds later, block dots started invading my vision, and before I even knew it, I passed out.

"F-FLORENCE?" My eyes slowly fluttered open as I heard indistinct noises around me. I moved my body, feeling the discomfort of my position.

"You're awake! Thank Goodness!" I heard the familiar bitchy voice of Eula. I groaned when she put her whole weight into me as she engulfed me in a hug.

"What happened?" I asked and scratched my itchy head. She slapped my hand away and sat on the left side.

"You passed out!" she exclaimed. She passed me a peeled apple, she knew I don't eat unpeeled apples.

"Thanks," I said gratefully, pertaining to the apple.

"Whatever," she mumbled.

"Wait, how was the game? Am I disqualified already?" I asked worriedly. That can't be! I still haven't proved myself to her yet!

"Stupid, of course not. Don't mind it, it was postponed. You need to rest." She said. I frowned when I noticed something odd from her.

"You seemed nice, did you take some drugs?" I asked jokingly. She sent me her middle finger which I returned with a middle finger too.

"Can you shut up and be nice for a while, bitch?" I threw her my pillow but immediately stopped when I felt dizzy.

"Ya! Told you to not move, stubborn lady." She said and forced me to lay back in bed. I sighed and went back to sleep.

And that continues for days, weeks... Eula told me that I'll be back after a month, aside from that, she said nothing to me. I notice something strange. Something feels off...

"Are you okay now?" I asked. She frowned and aimed for the remote.

"I'm perfectly fine, what do you mean?" she said which added to my suspicion.

"I mean, last time you were grieving because you just got removed from your position as the student council's secretary," I explained.

"Oh, that? I already moved on from that." She said and let out a chuckle. I just shrugged it off.

"Florence? Will you be okay if I'm gone?" she asked in the middle of deafening silence. I chuckled and hit her arm.

"Of course! At least I won't have to worry about a witch bewitching me," I said jokingly. She just smiled. It was followed by a comfortable silence.

TODAY IS Sunday, tomorrow I'll be back at the competition! But before that, I decided to pull a prank on Eula.

I ordered a fifteen-thousand-dollar huge cake. I want to surprise that witch. I customized it personally for Eula. It's a violet cake with a witch riding her broom on the top. It has fifteen layers and as tall as a normal door.

Eula stayed in my room for the whole three weeks. Just exclude the second week because she spent it on their house while I spent mine on racing. Dad hasn't been home too. I kinda miss that old man.

I immediately ran downstairs when I heard the doorbell rang. It's probably the staff that will deliver the cake to my house. I opened the gate and I was right!

I guided them inside my house and get their help to unbox the cake.

"Thank you so much! Please take this as a tip." I said and handed each of them a thousand dollars. Their eyes widened and immediately thanked me. When they left, I went to Eula's room and knocked.

"Witch, open the door! I have a surprise for youuu!" I shouted. Minutes after, the door opened revealing a bewildered Eula.

"What?" She asked a bit annoyed. I smiled foolishly and went to tie the blindfold in her eyes.

"Just make sure that this is not some silly prank, Florence, or else I'll wax all of your body hair in your sleep." She threatened which gives me goosebumps.

"This isn't! Come!" I said excitedly and guided her in every footstep downstairs. When we finally get to the living room, I removed her blindfold and watched her reaction.

Her jaw dropped, literally and her eyes widened. She looked at me in disbelief with pure bliss in her eyes.
