Morning.
"Anything from Mae yet?" Omar asked as he paced around the room having some of his agents on their devices. He had been trying to reach Mae, the girl he sent to get information off Leo Vance but to no avail. Her connection had been cut off since the night before. None of the agents in the room with him had being able to track her exact whereabouts; no one knew if she had successfully done the job she was meant to do or not."Not yet sir," someone came to him and saluted."The tracking device on her had been deactivated since last night, it's why we couldn't reach her but I just discovered that now.""Fuck." Omar cursed in annoyance."What about the other things on her? The microphone? Camera?""They too had being deactivated since last night.""Keep things in order here till I return." He designated to the man in front of him before picking up his suit jacket and leaving the room.***Omar stopped his car in front of The Vance Incorporation building and immediately got out. He took the elevator to the top floor and went it's door opened, he saw Leo about to get into his private elevator so he ran to him and stopped."Vance," he tapped his shoulder and waited for him to turn around."Are you Mr Paola?" Leo's assistant came to Omar when he touched her boss."If you're then I'm am sorry to inform you that we'll have to reschedule your meeting with Mr Vance as he has somewhere important to be.""He's not Mr Paola," Vance snickered when he saw his old friend."He's Mr Troja, Omar Troja, you son of a bitch, I didn't know you were in City N." He put his arms around Omar's shoulder and smiled like they were currently best of friends. He lied when he said he didn't know Omar was in the City. He knew he was and also knew why. He knew Omar came for him and he knew Mae was an agent of his field now."Is she alive?" Omar went on to ask, dismissing Leo's pleasantry. He knew the man in front of him had found out he was in City N and most likely knew Mae was from him so he asked after her."Who?" Leo leaned in to ask in a whisper voice like they were discussing something very confidential. He had a tone of humour in his one-word question but that humour was one sided to him.Omar licked his lips and looked behind him. His assistant was there and able to hear every word they said. Leo turned around to look at his assistant after Omar."Excuse us," he ordered the assistant in a cold voice and they both watched as she quickly walked away from where they stood.Leo stopped smiling the moment she left and pressed a button on the private elevator to get into it. Omar followed him into the elevator."Is she alive?" He asked Leo who was no longer smiling again."Who?" Leo put both his hands in his pocket and maintained a straight face as he asked. Surely, he knew who Omar was asking about but he wanted Omar to admit to sending her to him first."Mae, the girl.""The girl, what girl?""Come on Leo, just let me know if she's alive or not. If she is, we can make a deal for you to let her go.""I have to tell you, she's the most whacky agent you've ever worked with.""She's new.""I figured. It's why she's not dead yet. And also because she's beautiful. Did you really think I would give into her beauty just like that?""It was worth the try. You used to lose yourself to women when we were younger, very beautiful women like Mae."Leo chortled to himself when Omar reminded him."We were in a goddamn isolated camp with no women anywhere around the place. I never missed the opportunity to enjoy being around beautiful women when we were off camp. That doesn't automatically translate to my likeness for women.""I guess I miscalculated this time." Omar bit his lips."Is she alive or not?" He had to ask again before the elevator got to it's destination."I have no idea of her whereabouts. She could be at her house or back at your office to report." Leo gave an unmatched answer for what he had been asking him before walking out after the elevator opened.Omar stood outside the elevator which had taken them to Leo's private parking space and watched as Leo got into the car which was opened by one of the men waiting by the car before they arrived. As soon as Leo's convoy drove out in a line, Omar took out his phone to call the person he left in charge at the agency office."I was going to wait till you returned sir, but Miss Yrote is back to the office." He was informed as soon as the call was answered. He looked on as the last of Leo's convoy cars drove out. He sighed. He didn't need be told that Leo was expecting his presence at his office before he came. He didn't regret coming and meeting him in person after so long because he came for Mae.He had been hearing of all the dirty but miscellaneous things Leo had been up to since he was earlier dispersed to another part of the country but now he was back and he would stop him.****"Where is she?" Omar asked after he returned to his office and everyone around knew who he was asking about. He was led to the witness safe room in their office, that was where Mae was kept.Mae stood up in salute when Omar walked into where she was. She looked down in shame when some of the other officers also walked in.Omar noticed so he dismissed the others that just followed behind him."Leave, all of you.""Yes sir."When everyone had left and it was just him and Mae alone in the room, he closed the door and went to take a seat. Mae didn't join him in sitting. She couldn't unless he permitted her to."Tell me all that happened with him," Omar rested his back and loosened his tie. He wanted to know what went wrong in her mission yesterday.Mae swallowed when her superior asked to know what happened with Leo Vance yesterday. She felt ashamed and moreso, useless. She knew how much she was trained for yesterday and she had fucked it all up without even getting a single information from the target.I laughed when I saw the gun in his hand but he didn't laugh along. I groaned and went to lean in the same position he was leaning against when I joined him here."I thought of the possibility of you doing this, but then I shoved it to the back of my mind. I told myself Omar wouldn't do that shit. But here you are, doing that shit.""If you won't help me. I'll help myself. I know you won't kill me. If you wanted to, you'd have all these while. So that leaves me no choice. I have to kill you to save myself.""You're in flames for killing the little girl, and you want to kill me too? You still enjoy playing with fire, don't you Omar?""..." He didn't say anything after me. He just held the gun tighter and licked his trembling lips."Alright, enough of this shit. Sixty seconds, you've got sixty seconds to kill me or I'm leaving. I want to be at the hospital when Mae wakes up." I told him and took off my suit jacket."If I don't pull the trigger in sixty seconds, will you kill me?" He swa
Who the hell looks this beautiful in a sick bed? I sat by Mae's hospital bed and watched her sleep on. The doctor she lost a lot of blood but she should wake soon; that was what I was waiting for.My phone vibrated in my hands. I looked and saw that it was Pete calling so I left to answer it. I was expecting that call of his. He had told me that he found some gadgets and equipment being used by those FIA agents so he took them with him and was going to check through them.****Three weeks later.I was driving to the hospital to check on Mae. She had woken up but hadn't fully recovered. The doctor in charge of her treatment said she would need some more time to be on her feet and active again."Omar," I called over the phone after picking up my ringing phone."You must have learned the full story behind the FIA agents being at that building that day." He sounded dull.I hissed and wanted to end the call. I was in no mood to speak about that, at least not now that I was on my way to se
I had gone back to assure the other kids that they would be okay. I felt the need to, especially after one of them watched her sister get shot. Thankfully, Rhea was there to stop them from witnessing me shoot the man who did it.I went on one knee to be able to talk to the sister of the dead girl. She wasn't saying anything so I took out my handkerchief and wiped the blood of her sister off her face.I got up from my kneeling position and turned around to meet Mae standing halfway to the car and watching me. I wanted to smile at her but my cheeks felt too heavy to be lifted into a smile at the moment.I helped Rhea and the kids into a car before planning to join Mae in the car. I turned around to start in the car's direction and saw a red dot traced at her. It was at the back of her head and then it retraced to her heart. My heart skipped a beat."Mae!" I called out to her and began running to her but she turned around. The moment she did, she got shot.I stopped running. I was just a
I got out of the car and headed to where Rhea was. I know Leo asked me to remain in the car but I don't know how he was thinking that was possible when he drove me here."Rhea?" I called to make sure it was her before getting too close. She turned to me and with a reflex action, pulled out her gun. I raised my hands in the air."The fuck are you doing here?" She asked when she put down her gun."Leo brought me.""Mr Vance brought you? Really? For what?" She couldn't believe me."I was driving with him when he suddenly turned around and drove us here. I figured either you or Pete called him. So what happened?""Thx asshole in there, he just..." Rhea sighed and ran her fingers through her hair."He killed one of them.""One of them? Them?""Mae, just go back to the car." She advised."Come on, tell me what happened?""The asshole was supposed to sell the kids to us but he said he won't do it if sir Vance wasn't here. We've been trying to talk him out of it but the mother-fucker just pull
Night.Mae and I had spent the day with the kids. I toured her around the place. She had asked about Rhea and I explained how she had to take back one of the kids to their parents since it was now safe to do so.I just tucked one of the kids to sleep and saw her standing and staring at a fishbowl, in thought."Do you want to slam my head into the bowl?" I asked her, trying to get what she was thinking about."Your head wouldn't fit in it," she turned to me and sighed."I'm going home, back to Nina. She must be worried. I don't even have a phone for her to reach me and know where the fuck I am."She started to walk away so I followed."Is that what you were thinking about?" I knew it couldn't be, yet I asked. She had to have been thinking of something deeper."You know it's crazy how much you and Lade know about me and I didn't even know what my father was till you told me." She finally voiced her thoughts."It's not your fault." She had to know it wasn't."Do you know who you are?" She
I sat in the car with Leo, still in my nightgown. He keeps doing shit like this and wonder why I hate him much. I probably shouldn't have fucked him last night; probably gave him the impression that I've forgiven everything that he's done to and with me.When the therapist handling me at my dad's orphanage told the women in charge there that I was crazy beyond her help, they should have believed her. Leo took us to what looked like a factory. He came down from his car and was about to get the door for me but I didn't let him."Thank you, gentleman," I sarcastically told him and got a chuckle from him.He started towards the entrance of the building so I followed. We got to one of the main entrances there and it had a fingerprint sensor.Leo put all five of his right fingers over the sensor and it turned green, allowing us access."What is this place?" I asked him when we walked in and there was barely any light to see with."Where your friend's daughter became my friend." His reply h
