Reconciliation

Sandy burst into my hospital room, calling my name with such excitement that I could feel myself grinning before I even saw her face. She pushed Christopher aside and ran towards me, jumping onto my bed and hugging me tight.

"I missed you so much, Angie!" Sandy exclaimed, using the nickname she had given me.

"Sandy, why are you calling me Angie?" I asked curiously

She beamed at me, her eyes shining with joy. "I missed you so much, Angie, that I decided to give you a nickname. It feels more personal and It sounds more fitting for my best friend."

I laughed, feeling a warmth spread through me at her words. "It's only been 10 hours, we see each other, Sandy. How could you miss me that much already?"

Her laughter filled the room as she embraced me tightly. However, the force of her hug caused me to cry out in pain, my wounds throbbing beneath her touch.
