As I stepped into the hallway, I found myself questioning where I found the courage to assume such a big lie. But then, I remembered how disappointed Christopher had seemed when I thought he was begging me, and fear crept in. What if he had just said those words to save face and not appear weak in front of me? The consequences of that lie began to weigh heavily on my mind, but I quickly pushed those thoughts aside. Nothing significant would come out of it anyway. He said he wasn't serious when he was supposedly begging me, so there was no need to make a big deal out of it. It was all going too far.
