Chapter 7

Alpha Lir POV (Five Years Later)

The rain lashed against the floor-to-ceiling windows of the Silvercrest executive suite, blurring the lights of the city below. From the eigth floor, I could see the sprawling borders of our territory—a kingdom of concrete, steel, and ancient forest.

On paper, Silvercrest was thriving. Our stocks were up, our borders were secure, and our influence in the Regional Council had never been higher.

But inside these walls, the air tasted like ash.

I swiveled

Chapter 8Alpha Lir POVWe arrived at Downbridge gate, and their guards were stiff enough not to bow and that was the first thing that grated on my nerves. At Silvercrest, the gates parted like the Red Sea when my motorcade approached. Here, two guards in a dark heavy combat suit made from a strange, dull-looking fabric stepped into the road and forced my driver to roll down the window."Identification," the guard said in a flat voice. He didn't care about the Silvercrest symbol on the hood."You’re speaking to Alpha Lir," Marcus snapped from the passenger seat. The guard checked a tablet. "Alpha Silas is expecting a trade delegation from Silvercrest. Park in the secondary lot afterwards you will be escorted to the Great Hall on foot."I felt the growl vibrating in my chest at the thought of walking on foot."Do it," I commanded Marcus, my voice tight. As we walked through the settlement, I realized the drone photos hadn't done this place justice. There was a vitality here that Silver

My Beta, Marcus, he looked older than he had five years ago. Gray was beginning to pepper his temples, a sign of stress that no amount of beta-blood could mask."The birth rates are down another three percent this quarter, Alpha Lir," Marcus said, his voice flat.I tightened my grip on the crystal glass in my hand and the amber liquid swirled, reflecting the dim office lights. “What about the mate bondings among the wo

Chapter 6When I finally woke up the frantic noise of the clearing was was gone replaced by a steady rhythmic thump creak of a wooden lump.I wasn't in a cell but in a small sun-drenched attic room above the pack’s textile workshop. The air smelled of lanolin, dried lavender, and cedar scents so clean they made the memory of the boundary woods feel like a fever dream. My arm was bandaged tightly in clean linen. The fever from the feral bite had broken three days ago, leaving me weak but, for the first time in my life, remarkably still."You're awake," a voice said.It was an older woman sitting by the window, her fingers moving with practiced grace as she carded wool. She had the steady, grounded scent of a wolf who had seen too many winters to be easily impressed."Alpha Silas said you’d be hungry when the cloud finally lifted," she said, nodding toward a bowl of thick broth on the bedside table. "I’m Martha. This is my shop. He decided that if you’re going to stay, you might as well

  • Shattered By The Alpha   Chapter 5

Chapter 5 Zara Fen POV The woods swallowed me the second I crossed the boundary. The light faded fast under the trees. Branches tangled overhead, choking out the rising sun. The air smelled damp and sour, thick with rot and old blood. My boots sank into the soft ground with every step. I didn’t slow down. Hesitation got wolves killed. The blade felt heavy in my hand, the handle worn smooth from years of use. I kept it low and ready, every sense stretched tight. Every sound felt too loud. Every silence felt worse. The bond burned under my skin as a warning. I pushed deeper into the woods, following the faint signs left behind by the Dawnridge patrol. Broken branches. Drag marks in the dirt. Dark stains where blood had soaked into the ground and dried. Someone had been hurt here and hadn’t made it back. A sharp crack snapped to my left. I froze as something moved between the trees. It was too slow to be the wind at the same time too careful to be some animal wandering through

Chapter 4 Zara Fen POV They woke me before dawn. A sharp knock hit the door once and then again, harder. Emily was already moving, her body tense as she crossed the small room. “It’s time,” a cold voice said from outside without greeting or courtesy. Emily looked at me. “Whatever happens,” she said quietly, “don’t bow your head.” I nodded, even though my stomach twisted painfully. We stepped outside into the cold morning air. The sky was still dark, faint streaks of gray cutting across the horizon. Fires burned low across the settlement, casting long shadows over the stone clearing at the center of Dawnridge. Wolves were already gathering around. They formed a wide circle around the clearing, speaking openly, eyes sharp with curiosity. This was not a ceremony, there was no reverence here. This was judgment and I felt it immediately. The weight of being watched and measured. Emily walked beside me until a guard stepped into her path. “Only the one on trial,” he said. Emi

Chapter 3 Zara Fen POV We reached the border just before dawn. The thought of my bond with Silvercrest ending weighed heavily in my chest. It was an empty drive on the narrow road that faded into forest and unfamiliar land. Emily slowed the car and pulled to the side and turned off the engine. “This is it,” she said. I looked back once. The faint lights of Silvercrest were already gone, swallowed by distance and darkness. My chest tightened, but there was no relief in leaving only exhaustion and the steady burn of the bond beneath my skin. Emily pulled the car back onto the road and drove forward. The trees grew taller as we crossed into Dawnridge territory. The air felt heavier here, thick with unfamiliar scents. Wolves watched from the shadows as we passed their eyes burned with curiosity as my unfamiliar scent gave me off. When the road finally opened into a clearing, I saw the pack settlement. Stone buildings stood between tall pines. Fires burned low in metal pits. Wolv
