Chapter 5

I rolled on the soft mattress, my hand feeling the other side of the bed. My eyes shot wide and opened. I stared at the space.

I quickly sat upright, picking up the tee next to me and putting it on. I walked downstairs and there he was, looking perfect.

"What are you doing" I asked, walking to the kitchen counter as my eyes fell on him. Sitting at the kitchen table I held a cup of coffee that Gideon had brewed already.

I watched Gideon fumble with the pancake batter in the mixing bowl. I took a deep breath and gathered the courage to speak. "Gideon I need to talk to you about something."

Gideon turned to stare at me his eyes full of hope. "Sure what's up?"

I hesitated for a moment before continuing. "I had a great time with you last night, but I don't want anything more than friendship. I'm still trying to figure out what I want in life, and I'm not ready for a serious relationship right now."
