Vanessa stood up with struggle, she had to save her child. She dragged herself as blood trickled down her legs to the ground.
“Hold in there baby, mummy is rushing to the hospital." The moment she got out of the gate, the pain became intense and she could not walk any more. She fell by the side of the road. She fumbled through her bag to get her phone. She quickly dialed her childhood friend’s number so that she could come over and help her. With too much struggle, she dialed the number which she had memorized and pressed the call button. “Becky, please save my baby, am at...” Before she could finish her words, she lost consciousness as he phone fell on the ground. At the Reid Corporation. Alexander Reid sat at his desk with his eyes fixed on the computer. His phone vibrated with an incoming call. He looked at the new number. He hated being disturbed by phone calls when he was busy with his work. He was used to turning it off or put it on silent mode when he didn’t want to get disturbed, but he had forgotten to do so that day. He looked at the number again then decided to pick it up. “Please save my baby, am at.” Those were the words he heard. He could not understand who the lady on the other end of the call was. He knew she dialed the wrong number, meaning the person the message was intended to reach did not receive the message. “Save my baby please.” He recalled that the lady was speaking as if she was in too much pain. He stood up from his seat, turned on a tracker on his phone so that she could know where the lady was. “ Queens road,” he whispered. He left the office, got into his car and sped away. * The road was only around seven minutes’ drive from his office. The more he moved, the distance on his tracker reduced. He stopped his car on the side of the road then got out. His eyes caught sight of a young lady lying on the side of the road. Blood was all over the ground with her hands on the belly. He quickly carried her and placed her at the back seat of his car then sped to the hospital. “Doctor, please save her and the baby,” he said as she was being rushed to the theatre. Alexander Reid sat at the waiting bench outside the hospital. He could not understand who that girl was and what happened to her. *Back at Lucas Hayes mansion, the couple went for almost four rounds of intimacy. When they didn’t hear Vanessa's voice, they thought that she had left. “Baby, let me go and prepare something for us to eat,” Eliana Moore said as she got down from the bed. Lucas pulled her in for another kiss. “Am so tired baby, we will continue after we have eaten,” she said as she escaped from his embrace. Lucas smiled as he looked at her hips which were swaying from side to side. She is the kind of woman he wanted. The one who could satisfy his sexual urges and desires. She went down the stairs while Lucas remained on bed. “Woooo!!!!!!!woooooo!!!!!” Lucas heard Eliana screaming. He quickly jumped out of the bed and ran downstairs. “What is wrong?” He asked as Eliana hugged him tightly while pointing at the pool of blood at the end of the staircase. “What is that? Whose blood is that?” “I think its big sister, she might have hurt herself when she fell down the stairs.” Lucas held her in his arms,” don’t worry she will be okay.” They followed the way outside the house with blood droplets until at the gate. “Where can she be?” Lucas asked. He tried calling her phone but it was not being picked up. The lights in the operation theatre were turned off. The doctors had stayed in there for almost three hours. “How is she?” Alexander Reid rushed towards the doctor and asked. “Sir, we are sorry, we could not be able to save your child,” the doctor said. “Fuck!!!” Alexander cursed. He wasn’t able to help her save her child. “What about her? How is she?” “Your wife is okay, but she had lost a lot of blood.” “Can I see her please?” Alexander asked. “You will see her once she is transferred to her ward.” A while later Vanessa was wheeled out of the operation theatre into her word. Alexander Reid followed behind and sat at the side of her bed. He asked for a piece of wet towel so that he could wipe her face which had marks of dried tears. After making sure that she was okay, he took out his phone to send a message to his assistant to asking him to postpone all the important meetings he had to attend that day. “My baby, How is my baby?” Alexander Reid heard a voice from the bed. She was awake. “Doctor, did you save my baby?” she asked in a low voice thinking that Alexander Reid was the doctor. “Doctor am talking to you. Please tell me my baby is still inside here,” she whispered as she caressed her belly. “Am sorry, but am not the doctor,” he answered. He didn’t know how he was supposed to break the bad news to her. She continued caressing her belly but her instincts told her that the baby was not inside there. “Did I lose the baby? Just tell me the truth,” she begged in a low voice. She looked at him with a face full of expectations. While everything was getting heated up between Lucas and Alex, Vanessa was having the time of her life already constructing her company and visioning how it would expand and become one of the best in the state. She was so occupied that she hardly even came back home to sleep. And now that she had removed Alex from her thoughts in total, it made her concentrate more on her business. She knew what she was saying when she said that the both of them would be a distraction to her. Now that none of them were in her way, she was able to do whatever she wanted and stay away from all of them while being at peace with herself. It had been a few days since she met with Becky, and she was slowly missing her. She decided to go to her office and pay her a surprise visit. On her way to Becky's office, she had to wait for the red light as it seemed that students were crossing over to end while some were coming down from the school bus. She looked afar and she could see Alex's house. It made her rem
Even though Alex never wanted this to lead to violence, he had no choice. What Lucas had just said to him made him so angry. He couldn't believe that Lucas was still labeling Vanessa as his own wife, as someone who belonged to him despite everything he did to her. Lucas, who had even started the fight, was unable to get hold of himself. He had already become so weak—just two punches from Alex. Meanwhile, Alex was still standing firm. Just then, security guards rushed towards them and separated them as they pushed Lucas out. After hearing from the bartender that Lucas was the one who came to Alex and started the fight, yelling at him, while Alex was told to leave the bar at his own accord, which he did almost immediately. Alex did not want to go home because he still had to face Aaron. So he drove back to his office and instead sat there in the darkness, thinking about everything—mostly thinking about the words that Lucas had uttered to him.
Alex, listening to the words Vanessa muttered, could clearly understand what she was trying to say. It was more than obvious that Vanessa could not continue this anymore. She was now in a tight spot. He slowly let go of her as he caressed her hair gently. "Is Lucas still stalking you? Does he want anything from you? Do you want me to deal with him?" Alex asked as Vanessa shrugged before walking into the building. He could not help but follow after her as he needed answers. He knew that there was something Vanessa was not saying. They soon entered. Vanessa sat on the sofa and motioned for him to sit. "What you don't really understand is I don't want to be involved with any of you guys anymore. I just want to be far from the both of you. Pull me back, and I don't want to be pulled back. And I think if anything should get more heated between the both of us, I won't help but fall in love with you, and I don't want that," Van
Lucas sat in front of his mother as he slowly sipped the coffee. His mom had called him for a brief family meeting. Immediately she heard the news about Vanessa's arrival. "So did you get to meet Vanessa?" she questioned as Lucas did not say a word because he did not know how else to respond to his mother. After Vanessa had left years ago, she always blamed him that he was the reason why she lost everything. He lost a child and still lost a wife. Only for him to keep Eliana as his mistress, not even marrying her. "You have to get her back. Even though you guys are now divorced, you still need to get your wife back. She's still your wife and still belongs to you. Try to put that authority before it is too late. Do you understand?" she said to him as he smiled. "You won't tell me what to do, though. Your idea is very good. But I am planning on taking it one step at a time. I won't rush things, and I won't rush Vanessa either. She left on
The next morning, Becky opened her eyes and was surprised to see herself in Vanessa's room. Even her clothes were changed to a night dress. She sat down and rubbed her eyes, calling out to Vanessa, but yet no answer. She stood up from the bed and slowly walked out of the room. "Vanessa," she called again, but yet got no answer. She went to the kitchen, and on the counter was her breakfast. She could not help but smile because Vanessa was treating her like a princess that she never imagined she would be. She opened it, and it was a very decent Italian breakfast, just as she expected. It seemed as though Vanessa was still connected to Italy because she refused to let go of it in any way. That was when it dawned on Becky. Vanessa had come back to work again. She couldn't even believe it. Yes, she had known Vanessa for so long and knew that she was always busy with business in Italy. But she had no idea
Meanwhile, Lucas, seeing Vanessa again, took a huge toll on him because he was unable to believe that Vanessa would ever be able to look as good as she did, not to talk less of the rumors he heard that she now has a successful company in Italy, which she had now moved to the States. It felt like she had left and come back for revenge. It angered Luca so badly because he even talked to her, offered her a second chance with him, but she rejected without even thinking twice. Just then he heard a loud bang on the door. He opened it, and it was Eliana. As she stormed in, looking angry, she turned to him with her hands on her hips and a frown on her face. Lucas did not really care because he was still lost in his thoughts with Vanessa as he sat back down on the sofa, watching Eliana about to display her madness again. These few years had made him really see who Eliana was, and he was slowly getting tired of her.
