Sage's POVThe journey was quiet after the confrontation. I had given Milo my tablet and a pair of earphones before we started driving, loading it with games and videos to keep her occupied. She had been absorbed in the screen for hours, her small fingers tapping and swiping, her face illuminated by the soft glow. She had not heard a single word of what passed between Kael and me, and for that, I was grateful.Kael and I did not speak to each other again throughout the six-hour journey. Not one word.
