Sage's POV

A day later

I stood near the two vehicles and watched as the servants loaded our supplies into the back. Two black sleek machinery vehicles sat idling in the courtyard, their engines humming softly, their windows tinted dark enough that I could not see inside. Milo stood beside me, her small hand in mine, her eyes scanning the commotion with the quiet alertness that had kept her alive for seven years.

We were heading to the Caverns of Ash. That was the reason for all of this preparat

  • Shattered by three, claimed by none   Tell your hidden truths

Sage's POVThe journey was quiet after the confrontation. I had given Milo my tablet and a pair of earphones before we started driving, loading it with games and videos to keep her occupied. She had been absorbed in the screen for hours, her small fingers tapping and swiping, her face illuminated by the soft glow. She had not heard a single word of what passed between Kael and me, and for that, I was grateful.Kael and I did not speak to each other again throughout the six-hour journey. Not one word. He stared out his window, and I stared at the road ahead, the silence was loud. The two vehicles stopped for breaks twice, just long enough to stretch our legs and use the facilities, and both times Kael walked in the opposite direction from me. I did the same. We moved around each other like two strangers.I followed Vex's vehicle through winding roads and narrow passes, the landscape growing more rugged with every mile. The trees thinned out, replaced by rocky terrain and steep cliffs.

Milo stood beside me, her small hand in mine, her eyes scanning the commotion with the quiet alertness that had kept her alive for seven years. We were heading to the Caverns of Ash. That was the reason for all of this preparation. Vex had spent less than a day analyzing the information I had given him about Nox Venenum, the active ingredient in the virus, and he had confirmed that the mineral could only be found in one place. If we want to find more answers, that is where we should go.Mara's voice cut through the air like a nail dragged across glass. She was standing near Kael, her hands on his arm, her body pressed against his side in a way that made my stomach turn."Please, Kael," Mara said, her voice dripping wi

  • Shattered by three, claimed by none   The Unresolved Conflict

Cass's POVI am the most stupid person on earth. That thought has been running through my head on a loop for days now, way before Sage slapped me in the garden. I deserved it. I deserved worse than that. I deserved her hatred, her scorn, her complete indifference. What I do not deserve is her forgiveness, and yet I find myself wanting it more than I have ever wanted anything in my entire life.I am walking toward Vex's home right now. He sent a message earlier saying that we would soon be planning to head out for more investigation about the virus. Sage had apparently identified the active ingredient and its source. That should be my main focus. The virus is killing thousands of people. Finding the source should be the only thing on my mind. But it is not.All I want is Sage's forgiveness. I know I do not deserve it. I know I may never get it. But the need sits in my chest like a stone, heavy and unyielding, and I cannot seem to dislodge it no matter how hard I try. What I did seven y

  • Shattered by three, claimed by none   Defend them

Sage's POVThe ball flew through the air and struck one of the women directly in the face. I heard the crunch of bone breaking, and blood exploded from her nose. She stumbled backward, her hands flying to her face, and let out a scream that echoed across the field."You have a death wish!" she shrieked, blood pouring through her fingers. "Do you have any idea who I am?"I walked slowly toward the ball, picked it up, and turned to face her. "I do have a death wish."I pulled my arm back again and threw the ball at another woman. This one tried to dodge, but she was too slow. The ball struck her in the back, and she crashed forward onto her face, the impact knocking the breath out of her lungs. The other women scattered in every direction, their earlier confidence completely shattered. They screamed for help, their voices high and panicked."Someone help! She is attacking us! She is trying to kill us!"It did not take long for the guards to arrive. Three of them came running from the di

  • Shattered by three, claimed by none   Don't dare bully her

Sage's POVI looked at Vex's expression, and something in my chest shifted. He was not lying. I could see it in his eyes. The logical part of my brain, the part that had kept me alive for seven years, told me that he was telling the truth. What if he did not know that the shock collar was flawed? What if someone else had tampered with it, someone who wanted me dead? But who would want me dead? I had been a nobody. A disgraced servant girl with no family, no power, no future. The only people who had any reason to want me gone were the three men who had claimed me and then abandoned me.But would he have tried to kill me? I did not know. And it was too late to find out. The damage was done. The trauma had already carved itself into my bones, and no amount of explanation or justification would ever erase it.I pushed the thoughts aside. I was not here to solve the mysteries of my past. I was here to find the source of the virus and protect my daughter."The active ingredient is called No

  • Shattered by three, claimed by none   The false report

Vex's POVWhy was she acting like I was the one who caused her disgrace seven years ago? I had nothing to do with her nude pictures. I never touched those photographs, never shared them, never even looked at them beyond the first time they appeared on my screen. And the sex we had shared that night in the forest? That was mutual. She had been in heat, yes, but she had been conscious. She had said yes. She had reached for us, begged for us, pulled us closer with her own hands. I never forced her. I would never have done any of it if the mate bond had not thrown every ounce of my caution out the window and left me with nothing but instinct and need.I lowered my voice so the remaining assistants could not hear. "Why are you behaving like this? Is it because I chose not to be with you seven years ago? What made you think I would want to be with a girl from a disgraced family? A Blackwood? Your father was a traitor. Your mother died of shame. Your name was poison in every respectable hous

  • Shattered by three, claimed by none   On one condition

Sage's POVI watched as Kael walked to his father's side. He did not cover his nose. He simply crossed the room and sat on the edge of the bed like he had done this a hundred times before.I moved closer, pulling Milo with me. The smell was worse near the bed, but I forced myself to breathe through

  • Shattered by three, claimed by none   Familiar Bully

Kael's POVThe drive back to the territory felt longer than it should have. The vehicle's engine hummed beneath my hands as I gripped the steering wheel, my knuckles white against the leather. Vex sat in the passenger seat, his eyes closed but his jaw tight. Cass was in the back with Sage and the g

Sage's POVThe leader's eyes widened as the black tendrils shot forward and wrapped around his chest. He tried to pull away, but the shadows held him fast, tightening around his ribs. His feet lifted off the ground, and I watched the color drain from his face as he realized he was completely at my m

Sage's POVI watched the three men I hated most in this world stand between me and the armed strangers who wanted my daughter. Seven years of rage sat in my chest like a living thing, but I did not have the luxury of indulging it. Milo was behind me, her small body pressed against my legs, and ever
