Chapter 0006

While she was still contemplating, Owen said, "You don’t look like you were married before, Little Kitty."

Helma retorted icily, "I'm going to be a divorcee soon, Mr. Pearce. Gotta go now, bye."

With a mysterious smile, Owen’s long, narrow eyes stared at her straight and slender back as she walked out of the room.

After leaving the room, Helma took a deep breath and put today's affairs behind her. Then, she called Wanda for her whereabouts.

Wanda was unabashedly drinking when Helma found her.

"Let's go." Helma waved her hand at her.

Wanda stood up shakily. "Now?"

Her face was flushed. She had a little too much.

‘Just my luck,’ Helma thought as she stepped forward to support Wanda.

She gritted her teeth as she said, "Why didn't you tell me I'm married?"

Wanda was bewildered. "Huh? I thought you knew."

She grabbed Helma by the neck and muttered, "Didn't your brother tell you?"

Helma cursed Neil from the bottom of her heart once again. ‘That idiot told me that Cole was a scumbag, but didn't bother to tell me I was married to him?!’

Wanda was quite drunk, so Helma took her back to the King’s home.

When they entered, Neil was sitting cross-legged on the sofa with a sullen face.

Neil lifted his head. "You still know how to come back?"

When he looked up, he was stunned to see Helma supporting Wanda.

"Why is she here?"

"Why not?" Helma was out of breath and dropped Wanda onto the sofa.

Wanda let out a groan as she slumped against Neil.

Neil froze. He stretched out a finger and stiffly pushed Wanda's head away.

Helma went to the table to pour a large glass of water while instructing Neil, "Help Wanda into the guest room."

"You……"

Before he could say anything, Helma turned suddenly with a cold gaze. "I haven't settled with you yet."

Neil immediately shut his mouth.

Although he did not know what it was, it was wise to keep quiet for now.

He turned and kicked Wanda's legs. "Hey, can you stand up?"

Wanda did not respond, her eyes shut like she was asleep.

Neil stood in front of her and looked at Wanda in annoyance. Finally, he let out a deep sigh, bent down, and scooped her up to cradle her in his arms.

Helma stayed where she was while Neil carried Wanda into the room.

When she came back to her senses, Helma touched her chin and grinned.

Something had happened between those two when she lost her memory of the past two years.

She went to her room, took a shower, and lay in bed. Just as she was about to fall asleep, she suddenly remembered the man in the bar.

He was still her husband legally.

Then, she remembered her old mobile phone.

She got herself a new phone after the accident but had kept the old one in a drawer in her room.

She turned on the bedside lamp, got out of bed, and took out the cell phone.

There was no important information on the phone because it was not her style to keep a diary.

However, she loved taking pictures.

Helma scrolled the photo album. Her fingertips froze at the top of the screen.

The photos were all about everyday life.

Some were snapshots of tables full of dishes, obviously waiting for someone. Some were photos of her in an unfamiliar room. Most of all, there were many photos of Cole.

His side profile, back view...

However, these photos were obviously taken in secret; some blurry, as if taken in haste.

Helma squeezed the phone tightly. She did not remember anything from these photos, but she still felt a strange unease inside.

Then, her gaze locked onto the last photo.

A photo of a woman embracing Cole.

The discomfort in Helma's heart disappeared altogether. Now, she was furious.

‘He really is a scumbag! He cheated in the marriage!’ Helma thought to herself.

The next day, Helma got up early and headed straight to the Civil Affairs Bureau.

Cole was also punctual.

Dressed in a white shirt, he was tall and slender. Sunlight bounced off his sharp facial features. He was unbelievably handsome.

However, his expression and aura were extremely cold and indifferent.

Helma thought, ‘Maybe I married him because I fell in love with his looks.’

"Well, you’re on time today," Cole’s harsh and piercing tone irritated Helma immediately.

She scowled at him. "Cut the crap, hurry up."

Then, she headed towards the Civil Affairs Bureau on her own.

Cole frowned slightly as he looked at her back.

He had ordered his assistant to check last night but none of the hospitals had Helma's medical records. Even information about the car accident could not be found.

Cole thought to himself, ‘So, is the amnesia true? Did she fake it? She’s so decisive all of a sudden? This is making me feel a little…’

He paused there on the spot for a while. Finally, he brushed that odd feeling aside and followed her.
