Chapter 4

Author: Space Journey
Suzy put on the perfect innocent act. "Dad, I heard at school that drinking a little hard liquor can help you live longer. I even asked the convenience store owner about it. This brand is the best and most suitable for you, so I used all my pocket money to buy it for you."

She sounded like a pure, naive, dutiful daughter. After hearing it was good for his health, she had supposedly spent every cent of her pocket money on it.

As she spoke, she uncapped the bottle and poured a glass, clearly intending to get Dad to drink.

My parents looked completely bewildered. They probably couldn't understand how alcohol was supposed to strengthen the body. Looking at Suzy, they saw nothing more than an innocent daughter with good intentions.

Unfortunately for her, I had already lived through this once. I saw through her scheme immediately. She was trying to change destiny itself. Even without the system, she still wanted to follow the same path, using this stunt to create the image of a resilient, pitiable girl in front of Jonathan.

I stepped forward and knocked the glass onto the floor.

"Suzy, what are you doing?"

The moment I interrupted her, dissatisfaction flashed across her face.

Ignoring her expression, I said bluntly, "Suzy, do you even know how harmful alcohol is? Long-term drinking can lead to alcoholism. If you don't even have this basic common sense, then I don't think you need to keep studying. School clearly isn't helping you."

My words were merciless.

Suzy's expression changed instantly. Anger and grievance filled her face, but my words were so direct and absolute that she couldn't argue back. All she could do was lower her head and cry pitifully.

Completely unaware of Suzy's true intentions, Mom immediately disapproved of my reaction.

"Abby, even if Suzy didn't express her love the right way, she only did this because she cares about Dad. You can reason with your sister properly. You don't have to be so harsh with her," Mom said seriously.

Hearing Mom patiently reason with me made my nose sting. She was such a sensible mother. Yet in my previous life, after Suzy manipulated her through the system, she had become someone who did nothing but gamble and play cards.

"Don't cry, Abby. Your mom has a point. You're both grown up now. You need to pay attention to how you speak," Dad said as he hurried over to comfort me.

The more they acted this way, the more bitterness welled up inside me.

At the same time, my resentment toward Suzy kept growing. Our parents had always treated us equally. They had never favored one of us over the other. I couldn't understand why she had never learned to be grateful or why she treated our entire family as nothing more than tools.

Worse still, in my previous life, after completing her mission and preparing to get married, she had ordered the system to erase us completely. She hadn't left us even the slightest chance to survive.

All because, once she was married, we would have been a humiliating reminder of her poor, broken family, something that would have lowered her status in the eyes of others.

But that tragedy was entirely her own doing. She was the one who had destroyed our family. What right did she have to despise it?

Still crying, Suzy walked outside. Mom saw her and immediately followed to comfort her.

Dad held my hand and sighed helplessly. "Abby, let's eat out tonight. Just be more careful with your words next time."

Just like that, the four of us went out for a walk before having dinner together.

...

At the dinner table, Suzy took the initiative to admit her mistake. She put on a pitiful act, saying she had been ignorant and had almost harmed Dad. She looked deeply remorseful.

Listening to her performance, I found it nothing but ironic. If Suzy had truly understood that those things were wrong, then our family would never have ended up the way it did in my previous life.

I carefully sidestepped Suzy. I'd prepared for this day for so long, and I wasn't about to let the lunatic standing in front of me ruin everything.I frowned as I corrected her. "Suzy, Jonathan doesn't belong to you. He doesn't belong to me either."My words only provoked her further. She charged at me like a madwoman. "He's mine! You bitch! You stole my system, didn't you? Without it, how could you possibly have gotten close to Jonathan?"She was holding a knife. As she lunged at me, she slashed straight at my hand.I was about to take the SAT. If my hand were injured now, I wouldn't be able to take it. I immediately stepped back, shielding my hand as carefully as I could.Just before the knife reached me, Jonathan rushed over. He pulled me behind him and kicked Suzy away.He looked at me with relief in his eyes. "Are you okay?"Fortunately, he'd arrived in time.I shook my head. "I'm fine."Seeing Jonathan and me together only drove Suzy deeper into madness. She waved the kn

"I want to hire you as my private tutor on weekends. Come to my house every weekend and help me study," Jonathan said.My eyes widened. Our school didn't allow after-school tutoring on campus, so I usually studied at home on weekends. Now Jonathan was asking me to come to his house and tutor him. Since when had we become this close?"200 dollars a day," he added.I agreed without hesitation. At this stage in my life, I wouldn't be able to earn money that quickly even after graduating. No wonder everyone liked rich heirs. When they had money, they really knew how to spend it.Jonathan looked at me with an arrogant smirk. "You're such a money grubber."I nodded without denying it. If I only had ten years left to live, then I wanted to leave as much money behind for my parents as possible.…The first weekend, I went to Jonathan's house to tutor him.The butler beamed as soon as he saw me. "You're the first young woman Mr. Jonathan has ever brought home. I haven't seen him smile l

The teacher was furious. My parents rushed to the school. After learning about Suzy's behavior, they apologized to the teacher. When they arrived, they were neatly dressed and looked composed. That only convinced everyone even more that Suzy had fabricated the entire story. No one paid any attention to her attempts to win sympathy, and she was transferred out of the advanced class. In my previous life, Suzy had also been transferred out of the advanced class. Back then, everyone believed our family had held her back, and they pitied her. Now, my classmates had only three words for her: "Serves you right!"She still refused to give up and kept trying to gain sympathy at school, but no one believed her.Watching Jonathan and me grow closer made her increasingly unstable.Eventually, she became completely unhinged. A teacher from the regular class called my parents and tactfully explained that Suzy's condition made it impossible for her to continue attending school. My parents und

I didn't hold back at all. I openly distanced myself from Suzy.My classmates had eyes of their own. We genuinely looked nothing alike. She had the delicate, pitiful appearance, while my features were brighter and more striking.Little by little, everyone stopped believing we were sisters. Besides, since Suzy wanted to invent stories about her family, she had no desire to involve me.There was no way I'd help her make up lies. Dragging me into them would only make her stories fall apart. She went her own way, and I was perfectly happy to focus on my studies. In my previous life, Suzy's stories had attracted everyone's attention because I'd suffered a psychotic episode at school.Everyone had witnessed it. My father had even come to school looking for her because he didn't have money to buy alcohol. He'd demanded that she hand over her living expenses so he could buy liquor. But in this life, I was living well as her older sister. My grades kept improving, and Mom and Dad never o

Their eyes were filled with wild speculation. When I saw that Suzy was about to paint herself as the tragic victim again and accuse me of bullying her, I cut her off immediately. "First of all, you dress well and have everything you need, so what exactly are you talking about? Second, I suggest you get a blood test... and have your brain checked."I didn't hold back at all. The moment I mentioned her brain, Suzy panicked. After all, she'd only just been discharged from the hospital, and the medication for her mental illness was still fresh in her mind. She burst into tears and ran off.I rolled my eyes.Jonathan glanced at me, genuinely puzzled. "Were you two really born to the same mother?"I rubbed my forehead and answered helplessly, "Fraternal twins."Jonathan didn't say anything else.Once Suzy was gone, my world became peaceful again. I went back to studying.…After school that evening, Suzy left without waiting for me. Fine by me. I had no interest in walking home wit

  • She Turned Our Family Into NPCs   Chapter 8

My classmates were more than happy to spend time with me.The system repeatedly urged me to approach Jonathan. After all, his grades still weren't as good as mine. It insisted I should use this opportunity to get closer to him.I refused. If I let myself get distracted by pursuing him now, it would definitely affect my studies. I wasn't about to let that happen.…One day during class, our teacher announced that we would be forming study partner groups. The goal was for classmates to help each other improve and create a positive learning environment.I was assigned to Jonathan's group. His Uval was excellent, and both his grammar and pronunciation were outstanding. When I thought about it, that made perfect sense. His family was so wealthy that he'd probably grown up bilingual. Under those circumstances, it would've been harder not to excel. My reaction was calm. Whatever the teacher arranged, I accepted without complaint.Perhaps my indifference piqued Jonathan's curiosity."
