“Mama, you know that I don’t like to stay at home. I easily get bored whenever I am not doing anything. I like doing my business outside. I like adventures in exploring new things. I like to work with my friends and colleagues. We can easily make things happen and create new ideas and become productive whenever we meet together. I do not do these things for myself alone. I am doing these for you and my siblings. I want to earn more money because I wanted to buy whatever I like. That is why I am spending my time with people who knew businesses,” Jim Han explained.
“Yes, I understand but did your brother knew wherever you go?” their mother replied, “What if something happens to you? How will your brother rescue or help you? Sometimes I called you, but then you are unreachable, so I called Jan. He said you did not come home that night,” she added.
“Yeah, I was not able to came back that night because I slept with my friends. I was. Ah...I think...I did. Ah...” Jim Han was out of reason because Jan Lee knew where he was that night. Jim Han thinks, “Oh no! I’m finished with this one.”
“You what? Now tell me the reason,” their mother investigates further.
Jim Han looks to his brother signaled him to cover his misconduct, but Jan Lee turns down his eyes while putting his hands under the table. He felt trapped and could not give any valid reasons anymore. Jim Han is now conscious of his misdeeds. Now when he saw his parents and sibling’s eyes were straight on him while they were silent waiting for his answers.
“Alright, I was drunk that night. My friends forced me to drink, so that is why I respected them,” his eyes downcast while rubbing his hands.
“What happens next?” their mother questioned him.
“One of my friends help me get into his bed because I could not manage myself anymore. I felt dizzy, and my head is aching. I have almost thrown myself down on the floor,” Jim confessed and felt the guilt of what he did. “I’m sorry for what I have done; let you worry about me. I’m so selfish and not thinking about you,” Jim added.
“Do you think it can give you good things?” their mother leads him to the question.
“No!” Jim replied and shook his head.
“What will you do now?” she further leads him.
“I realized it makes me harmed, and it can make spend more money, so I need to refrain from these things,” Jim lends his hands on the table, pushing it back and forth, and looks around them. Then his family clapped their hands, looks at him, and nod their heads. Hea Bum then tapped his shoulder; and say, “Hey, welcome home, brother!” Everyone laughs after they heard Hea Bum comforted Jim Han. Jan Lee then bumped Jim on his side and said, “Come on, Mama is just missing you. We were thinking about you. We did not think of you as evil, but we are here for you. Look!” Jan extended his right arms across the table and wave side by side, leading his eyes to their parents; and siblings. Jim Han then smiled while Jan Lee and Hea Bum hugged him. Shin Ki pierce a piece of chicken with her fork, raise it in the air, and speak loudly, “This is family,” but everyone is silent. They paused for a while, holding with their spoons, and stare at one another. Suddenly, Hea Bum broke their silence and pierced a piece of chicken raised it in the air as well closer to Shin Ki in response, “Yes! It is. We are family” while looking up their chickens. Then all of them persuaded. They pierced what they like and then do what Hea Bum and Shin Ki did. The kitchen was filled with laughter. At first, it seems awkward but then they realized that was their time to spend time with one another.
After eating their lunch their parents stand first and assigned one of them to washed the dishes. The others were told to keep all the surrounding stuff. The rest is to clean the area. After fixing everything, Jim Han carried the rocking chair to their backyard and placed it near to his father’s rocking chair. Then the twin gets into their room.
“What happened bro?” Jan Lee asked Jim about Ally.
“I was drunk that night and forgot about our date,” Jim Han said while opening his cabin, “Did she slapped you well?” he then stared at Jan sideway.
“Yeah, I almost sleep when suddenly her hands like a book hits my face,” Jan replied and look straight to Jim.
“I’m sorry, sometimes I felt bored when I stay long with her. I can’t endure talking to her in an hour,” Jim complained.
“Why?” Jan asked him, “Are you not enjoying with her? Tell me why?” he questioned him further.
“She is talking about her family always and about her job,” he explained, “I noticed that there are some girls better than her.
“That’s why you get bored because you don’t talk to her always, right? I think you spend less time with her and more time with you own self. Don’t be selfish bro. She needs you and she wanted you to be on her side. Whenever she talks or be with you it means she needs your attention and responsibility. She needs your love and care bro.” Jan Lee declared to him
“She is not my type. She’s a kind of weird you know. She doesn’t like what I liked,” Jim answered.
“Really?” Why you don’t tell her frankly? This girl is in love with you bro. You are wasting her love for you. She deserves happiness and attention. Have you notice about herself?” Jan asked him.
“Notice what?’ Jim asked curiously.
“Have you already asked about her parents?” Jan told him.
“No! Like I said I cannot stay longer with her. I will rather be with my friends at parties because we can do more,” said Jim.
“Really?” Jan looks Jim sideways, “You think she’s not important to you?” he stared and frowned at him. Jim looked up at the ceiling and thought. He then responds, “I love her because she loves me and takes care of me. She is always there when I want to talk to her. Most of all, she is patient and understanding,” Jim smiled and lie on his bed with his head on both palms. Jan further asked, “Do you know where she lives? and do you know her parents?” “Yeah, they live in a rented house. You know, I feel sorry for her because her father had been ill for a long time and had not been able to work for a long time, so she works for them," answered Jim. “What she went through was very difficult,” Jan shakes his head and felt concerned about Ally. “Where is her mother? Isn’t her mother the one to take care of her father?” he asked curiously. Jim turned on the other side feel sad, and said, “Their mother left them and went with another man when she was t
Jim smiled and put his finger on his lips, “Shh, don’t tell anyone!” he said then Jan and Bum look at one another shaking their heads. Hea Bum walk on while Jan stays for a while and tapped Jim’s shoulder and said, “It’s up to you bro. Please you take care of your life.” Jim nods his head as if listening to his brother and responded, “Maybe I may not able to go home until tomorrow afternoon.” “You tell mama,” Jan said, “I can’t do anything if that’s what you want. You are old enough. You know already what you’re doing. Please tell her about your plan.” “It doesn’t matter, she will not allow me you know that,” Jim replied. “Hey! Jan Lee, is this the tool you wanted to use?” Bum called Jan in a short distance, “Come on, it’s too hot inside,” he added. “I’ll go inside and pack some stuff,” Jim said while pointing his thumbs in the room’s direction. Then he signaled Jan to follow Bum in the storeroom. “I’m coming,” Jan said while w
Ally walks along in the grassy land. The cool wind waves her hair, and the clothing of her dress. She closed her eyes as she smells the fragrance of the wildflowers in the forest. The early sunlight warms her skin as she raises her both arms sideward feeling free and peacefully. The birds are busy chirping at the trees while they feed on their chicks while the others flying thru and fro. In a little, distance, the sounds of a stream can be heard as it flows along the rocks. Ally is happy looking at her surroundings. The sounds of the natures and all the living creatures create a relaxing melody in her ears while she laid down under a big tree. While she looks up at the blue sky as the clouds passes by, suddenly she heard flashing water in a little distance. She got up and, search for the noise that she had heard. She takes away the branches of the shrubs using her hands to see what creates noise in the water. As she continuously searches and looks around, she notices a man standing
“Look who is here?” said Ally to her brother while brewing her coffee. “What will you cook?” she added. “I will fry eggplant with egg,” Jap replied while washing it. “Please see if the rice is cooked,” he said to his big brother Shim. Ally went to her father’s room bringing a cup of coffee. After knocking on the door, she heard her father answered and told her to come in. She walked slowly as she carried the hot and smoky coffee. When she entered the room, she saw her father looking at the window. She put the coffee on the table and approached him. She sat down next to her father and looked together. Not far from their window, they see some trees and the birds are flying. Her father turned to her and said, “They are good and free. They can do what they want to do. They are free to do things. They only think about their food, where they will land every night. They are free to sing their songs. No one interferes with them and they do wherever they go. No one to
“Does your brother already know what the woman did?” asked Ally while steadily holds her spoon waiting for Tessa's answer. “Yes, he knew that is why he wanted to separate, but he felt sorry for the woman,” Tessa answered. “Until now, is she still with that guy?” Ally further asked. “I do not know, but my brother said she does not answer his calls most of the time,” said Tessa, and she started the first bite of her food. “It is up to your brother to decide on things like that. They must talk about it,” said Ally while watching Tessa eating her food. “Ally!” both of them turn to their right and saw Jim approaches their table. Tessa then looked at Ally. She wanted to transfer to the other seats, but Ally stopped her. Then the two of them stay at their table waiting for Jim to come. He smiled as he headed to their table. Jim did not know Ally's friend yet, so she introduced it to her friend. “Come, let us eat,” Ally invited Jim, “You may n
Tessa accompanied Ally to their house to say goodbye to her father and siblings about their plan on the farm. They said they would go home tomorrow afternoon. Ally then reminds her brothers to take care of their father. She told them to cook their food and do their household chores. She reminded her father of the schedule in taking his medicine. She then placed some clothes and other necessities inside her bag. On their way to the bus terminal, Tessa notices Ally’s sadness on her face, but she told her that it would go well. While waiting for a bus, Tessa contacted her mother and told her that they are approaching. Tessa’s mother was busy preparing for their dinner that night. She explains to her mother the situation of Ally, so she took pity on her. Coincidentally, the weather is good. The moonlight is bright, and the flow of their trip is good while they are on their way. When they arrived at the family of Tessa, they happily greeted them. The mother of Tessa embraced Ally and imm
“Wow! It is so good to be here, so relaxing and comfortable. When did your parents set these things up?” Ally asked while looking around the surroundings. “Since we were young. When I was Six, these were already here. My father inherits this land from his parents. Before their marriage, they used to stay here with their friends. They go swimming in that river. Have you noticed that small house? My father and his friends build that. They go in there eating, playing, and have some fun with their friends. During summer, my parents used to lay on these loungers with Terry on their side. My big brother and I play around in this wide area. On that spot, there is fish grilled. So, I missed those days. It has been a long time since my brother works abroad,” Tessa said while looking at the clear starry sky. “You know it is kind of weird. But I had a dream last night,” Ally said smilingly. “What is it? Tell me,” Tessa asked. “I dreamed trees, river, fish, and s
Ally then spread her both palms a little distance from the fire, feeling some heat from it. She enjoys watching the fire consuming the woods. She then weaved the smoke using her hands to make mosquitoes fly away from them. Tessa makes fun of her watching her weaving the smokes. In their surroundings, the sounds of the chirping crickets and the hooting of the owls add a meaningful night in their conversation. They are amazed at the fireflies gathered around the mangrove trees flashing their lights. It catches their eyes as the lights of the fireflies synchronizing their flashes creating a spectacular display. The stars in the sky are shimmering while the moon is shining brightly enabling them to watch the views that surround them. In a few minutes, Ally turns her eyes to Tessa when she heard her humming. She admires her on how she calmed herself that night. Tessa closed her eyes while humming along with the sounds of nature in their surroundings. Then Ally goes back to the lounger an
