Chapter 7: Something's Off

Hailey

I was happily eating the ‘edible’ porridge. Well, not that happy because Robert was also eating it because of me. He doesn’t need to be that sweet, you know. He can just be like a normal husband.

But I sure love him more when he is like this. 

I looked at him and he looked back at me. 

“Eat your food”

“Nope,” I replied.

“May I know the reason, miss?”

“I am not miss!”

“Well, Misus?”

“Yeah better!”

He laughed. What is so funny, huh? How dare he call me miss when I am married to him!

“Oh keep on laughing, I am angry” I pouted and he got up and suddenly kissed me on my lips. Then he got away and looked into my eyes. 

“That is gonna be hard. Are you sure you are gonna remain angry?”

I sighed. He knows that his kiss just melted me. “Nope”

“Okay, go on”

“What? I said nope”

“To the ‘it will be hard’ part”

“No! To the ‘are you gonna be angry’ part”

“Well, no”

I sighed. He is so clever with his words and I can never win from him. 

“Oh cute Hailey, eat your food” he sat back and laughed. I looked at him by squinting my eyes and then continued eating. “Trust me, you are already the cutest woman already”

I raised my eyebrow and looked at him. “What has happened to you?”

“Love”

“I know that though”

“You know everything about me”

I smiled. “I am so lucky to have you, Rob”

“Same here, Hailey”

We both smiled and completed our food. I am so happy. Even if everything is so depressing right now, having him by my side is enough to solve most of the problems. He is so cute, so caring and everything a woman can dream of. So much has changed in him and it makes me so happy.

He got up. “Okay let me go for some time. Or do you want me to be here?”

“No you can go but I would like you to be here”

“Decide” 

“Well… when will you return?”

“Soon”

“Okay, go then”

He nodded. “I will come fast. Bye”

“Bye”

Cassie

I went to Summer as she came and stared at ICUs door blindly. She was not listening to me, as though she was in some trauma or complete shock. I took her hand and then she looked at me. 

“Did the doctor say when we can meet him?” she asked.

“Nope…”

She sighed and I saw a tear in her eyes. She really loves him a lot. 

“Do you have any idea…” I started and she looked at me again. “Why was this… um… planned?”

She nodded her head in denial. “No….”

I nodded. “It will be fine”

“I hope”

We sat down there and waited for him to be fine. I know he will be fine soon. But I am worried… if this was planned then it might happen again. I just can’t afford to lose him. Never.

Two Days Later

Hailey

I was at my home with Robert. Everything has been fine. I just came home and Robert has of course been the best husband like he is. 

I heard about Alex. I don’t know anything, but I know that he is fine now and that is all that matters. I wish I could be there with him, but Robert has completely sealed me inside this house.

“Just once, let me visit him!” I smiled with a frustrated face. I know I am not well but that doesn’t mean I can’t visit him even once!

“You better stay inside this house baby or everything is gonna blow up”

“Huh, what do you mean by that?”

“If you step outside of this house, I am gonna burn this all down and you know I am serious”

“Why would you do something as stupid as that?”

“Well, you will be the one to do something stupid first” 

I looked at him and sighed. He sighed too and went to his room. He is acting really overprotective for two days and maybe a little weird too. I wish I could know the reason but this all might be just my thinking and confusion, so I don’t think about it much.

I went to my room too. Oh sure it is our room, not his or mine but I’d sometimes call it mine.

I saw him lying on the bed and probably texting someone because he was smiling like hell. 

“What’s so funny?” I asked him.

He hurriedly kept it down and sighed. “Nothing”

I looked at him suspiciously. Okay, this is skeptical. 

“Rob,” I asked in a stern tone. “What was it?”

“NOthing. Are you saying that you don’t trust me?”

“What? No. I am just asking a simple question to which I expect a simple answer” I went to sit beside him on the bed. 

“Well, expectations hurt”

“Tell me, Robert” 

He looked a little angry now. Why is he getting heated up on something like this? Shouldn’t he be cool and chill about it? And just tell me who the hell was… she? Maybe. Or maybe he. But it doesn't matter!

“Just keep quiet and sleep” he laid down comfortably and opened the quilt.

“Robert!”

He looked at me and took my hands in his. I looked at him scared as he took me beneath him and stared into my eyes. “What is your problem, Hailey! Can’t you understand a simple thing?”

That second, I felt a little weird. Something was definitely wrong. Oh no. I don’t want all this to start again!
