Chapter 6: Cute and Sad Moments

I was in front of his ICU right now. I couldn’t believe that in no time he was here fighting between life and death. I mean, murder… who would plan something like that? Why Alex? Alex has always been a good guy. Yeah, I do remember something bad he used to do in the past but still, why now?

I was almost crying thinking about the moment I received a call and came to know about this. That moment was so terrifying. I needed someone to hug me right now but Summer had to be there.

Is it a coincidence? that Hailey had a miscarriage and now Alex had an accident? Is something bad heading towards us?

I closed my eyes and let my tears flow.

Summer

I was hella shocked when I heard the news. Accident and that too planned? I calmed my nerves because I knew that I had to talk to Robert about this. Maybe he knows who would plan this all right now… after an entire year of everything.

I knocked on the ward door and went inside. Robert stood up as he saw me.

“Summer?” 

“Yeah, um… I have to tell you something… come out for a moment”

He nodded and I went out. He closed the door behind me as he followed me.

“What’s wrong?”

“Alex… he…” I kept a hand on my mouth. It wasn’t so bad till now, why am I crying suddenly? “Uh…” I took a deep breath. “He had an accident”

“He-- what?”

I nodded and he looked shocked too. Guess he didn’t expect it either. “Well… uh… how is he?”

“Cassie is there with him… he is in ICU”

“Really? He is in that critical state?”

“Yeah… actually…” I knew I had to tell him no matter what. “He… um… this accident was kind of planned… to be a murder…”

“What? Why?”

“I hoped to get an answer to that from you”

He sighed and kept quiet. “I will look into this”

“Thank you”

“Take care of him”

“I will”

“Go to him, I am here for Hailey”

I sighed. I don’t wanna look like a complete idiot. What if Alex scolds me to not be with Hailey? But he didn’t say compulsorily I have to stay either. He gave me a choice.

“What are you thinking?” he raised his eyebrow.

“Oh, nothing. I am going then”

“Yes and keep me informed on him”

Robert

She smiled and then left. I sighed. Why would someone wanna murder Alex?

I went back inside and saw that she was already awake. Huh! She was sleeping when Alex and Summer were here and now suddenly she woke up!

“Hey,” I said to her with a smile.

“Hey” 

I know I shouldn’t tell her about the accident. This all thing is difficult enough for her and she would not be able to bear the news. But I don’t know any excuses. I don’t know what I should do.

“Hello?”

I looked at her and sighed. At least I shouldn’t draw attention like this!

“Oh sorry, I was just thinking something”

“Hmmm okay”

I smiled again and she sighed. “I still can’t forget anything”

“You don’t have to forget anything, Hailey. You have to learn to live with it because that is how we move on”

“Oh you should have told me first, now I am sleeping again and thinking about that--”

“Oh sleepy head, now you are not sleeping!” 

She laughed. She loves to sleep so much. Hearing her laugh is the most melodious melody to my ears. I don’t know when I will hear this again but I wish I could pause this moment and listen to this sound forever. 

“Okay okay”

I smiled. She is the cutest.

“give me something to eat now”

“Okay”

“Bring something delicious”

“You are ill”

“I am not”

I sighed. “You will only eat what I will give”

She sighed. “Huh! Okay!”

I smiled and went out.

I brought some porridge and gave it to her. She made a face and started eating it. She loves two things way too much in her life, and this is, yes, her sleep and food! Yeah! I don’t come in that!

“This is so not delicious”

“It is edible”

She rolled her eyes. “Not so edible either”

“It is fine”

“Have you even eaten it? You are well! You could go and eat whatever you want! But I can’t! You can’t even understand my pain”

I sighed. “Okay baby, wait”

She looked at me with a suspicious face and I went out. I brought some porridge for myself too.

“How’s this?” I smiled at her.

“Oh I didn’t mean it that seriously--”

“Get well soon if you want me to eat some good food”

“Okay!”

I smiled. “Okay, Mr. Cute,” she said.

“Cute? Me? No way”

She laughed. “You are”

I smiled. I want to cherish her like this forever.
