"I should get going. I have a new location toady." Hayley said, getting up and brushing off her pants.
"Be careful out there." Kane told her.
Hayley had to patrol the edge of the town by herself. She had no problem doing it when it's daytime.
This night seemed extra dark because of the pending rain, with clouds blocking out the moon and stars.
The place was also quiet, as if it was holding its breath.
'The calm before the storm, they always say,' Hayley thought.
She wasn't feeling any better either. She still had dizzy spells, and a headache, which she pinned on the fact that her period was near.
Hayley paused for a while, when her head spun. Her mind drifted to the quietness of the forest. The usually loud forest, with it's busy night creatures, seemingly took an unasked for vacation.
There was a loud crack, like a tree branch or something.
Hayley looked around, but she didn't have night vision like the wolves,
Kane the player.
A cry was what made Hayley come to. When she did, she noticed Axel on the ground, badly hurt and bleeding.Whatever had attacked them was long gone.Hayley felt light-headed from being hung upside down for so long. Suddenly the rope broke. The next thing she knew, she was falling. She twisted her body to try landing on her feet, but that was the wrong thing to do.When Hayley fell, twisting her right ankle. The pain caused her to cry out and fought back her tears. But through it, she tried to move closer to Axel to make sure he was ok, but the effort was too much, and she passed again. When Hayley came to, she was in a room, in a very comfortable bed, with thick, warm dark blue duvet sheets up to her chin, soft pillows under her head, and a finely carved head post behind her back. The room was thick with a very delectable, but familiar, cologne.Even though it was morning, the curtains were still drawn, maybe to not disturb her
Hayley stuffed a few clothes in her duffle bag, took one last look around the room and left. She walked to the edge of the town without looking back, then crawled under the wire.''You really like trouble, don't you?"Hayley looked over at Aspen. He only had on a pair of ripped jeans and was eating an apple."Nice seeing you again. I'm actually glad that you came. I want your help to cross the mountain.""I'm afraid I can't do that.""Why not?""Because if is dangerous, you have no food and no proper clothing, you won't survive for even a day.""Ok, then tell me why you call me Ciri the first time we met?""Yeah, so maybe if we follow the river to its source, we can get to the mountain, but it won't be easy." Aspen said."Fine, never mind. I'll figure things out on my own." Hayley walked off after that.Aspen didn't go after her, thinking that she would stop, but Hayley didn't. Instead, she walked on, follo
Instead of going back to the place she had called home for some many years, Hayley continued on. Determined to find somewhere else to live, but she soon felt sluggish.Which caused her to stay in the same cave she stumbled upon for two days. All she did while there was cry, feel sorry for herself, eat wild berries and cry some more. She would also hide whenever she thought she heard voices and cry some more.On the third night, she was trying to get a fire going, but failed miserably because she didn't know what to do.And because of that, she was on edge, wondering if the vampire would find her, thinking that he would come for her anywhere she was.Doubting the pack could stop him, or even would stop him now that she wasn't a member anymore.Suddenly she dubbed over, dropping to the ground, and held onto her stomach. It felt as if she had been kicked with large, heavy metal boots.Hayley began to convulse, and could feel
"I am honestly glad that you are ok. And glad that I found you in time." Kane said to Hayley as he helped her to her feet."Could have left me to die, even though I'm sure Aspen would have come along." Hayley told me."Aspen?""That bear guy I'm in love with." Hayley said, her voice and face serious, so Kane couldn't tell if she was joking."Oh him.""Yeah, he's an ok guy."And just like that, everything seemed to be good with Hayley and Kane again, as they sat on the ground or walked around until Hayley's shift was over."You're welcome, with my company and all.""Whatever." Hayley said to him.Wanting him to know that not because he gave her chocolate meant that he was forgiven so easily. And she still had it in the back of her head that it was all a prank. That Davina was somewhere, watching, growling and snapping her teeth, just ready to tear her apart. While Sam was watching, laughing her head o
Hayley breathed hard after all that running. At first, she was confused as to where to go. She didn't want to expose herself to the pack. So she settled on going deeper into the forest, there was just noway she could have told the Alpha who she was. That was just suicide, sheer madness, instant rejection and death.Hayley had seen what rejection could do to a wolf. She didn't think she could go through that, especially with no one to help her.She knew they would mock also her, because even though she was now a wolf, she still managed to stand out from the others. Her fur was snow white, unlike where everyone else's was either brown or grey. She knew she couldn't let anyone see her wolf, especially not Davina and her friends. But she wasn't even going to argue anymore. No matter how much she wanted to throw a few stones, she had to resist.Hayley went straight to the pack house after shifting back.Going up to the Alpha's office, in a
When Hayley woke up, she couldn't tell where she was. The place was black and something was over her head that made it feel as if she was suffocating. She tried to sit up, only to realize that she was in a bag."Yeah!! Anyone there? Where am I?" Hayley called out. There was a zipping sound. The next thing she knew, she was falling off whatever she was on."Well, look at you, alive, kicking and talking." The doctor said, standing over Hayley."What happened? What did you do to me?" Hayley jumped to her feet."Nothing, whatever experiment you and your friend were doing had us all thinking you were dead, been two weeks now. Too bad we already executed her."“What? No, Josie was only trying to help. She meant no harm."The doctor laughed. "I'm just messing with you. That sweet girl is my daughter, remember? I wouldn't allow that to happen. And you were only here for like 10 minutes. Josie brought you here right after you fain
Days went by before Hayley let her wolf out again, and when she did, Kane found her. She was simply laying on a rock close to the river sunning her coat and lazing around.Hayley got up to run away from him, but he gave chase after her, dropping the food he brought."No, wait, I didn't mean to scare you. Don't run away." Kane called into her mine.Hayley skid to a stop, then spun around to run in the other direction."Wait, just tell me who you are."Hayley gave him a look, and before he could give chase again, another wolf called for him.Hayley shifted back to her human form with a sigh."Why can't I just tell him?" She asked herself, hating that she was hiding from him.Hayley walked around for a bit, only to follow behind Kane as he walked through the sunflower fields. She tried to stop, but her wolf's instinct wouldn't let her.Hayley walked slowly, watching his every move. Wondering why he was out there, because he
"Let me run a hot bath for you. I'm sure that you must be cold." Kane said to Hayley."Why are you being so nice to me all of a sudden?""Because you need it. You are the type of person who needs constant reassurance.""I don't.""Hayley, you do.""Well, maybe if you weren't so caught up with Davina and allowing her to put her nasty hands on you, I wouldn't be. I mean, you kissed her and are constantly around her, even though you claim to like me.""Stop being jealous.""How can I? Please tell me.""I ha-"Linda, Kane's mother, poked her head around the wall to look in the living room."Your friend stopped by, said you should come see her." Linda told him.Hayley gave Kane a look. She was about to tell him off but notice Linda's head, along with her large golden eyes, staring at them.Hayley always thought that she was kind of crazy. But she was very kind none the less, that was exactly what H
