KADE’S POV

I’d fucked up. I’d fucked up monumentally.

Every time I remembered that I’d let Natasha touch me, let her suck me off, I wanted to hit myself. I wanted to reach inward and break Fenrath’s neck.

I’d spent five years pushing her away, keeping her at arm's length, not so much as kissing her. I knew, even though I had no idea where my mate was, that Natasha wasn’t my future, and I didn’t want to jeopardize my chances.

But one moment of weakness, thanks to fucking Fenrath, had ruined it all.

Staring at Andrea now, lust and need fuzzing my brain, the uncertainty and doubt in her eyes felt like a knife going through me.

‘Happy?’ Jaxon mumbled.

For once, Fenrath had nothing to say. And that was good; he’d done enough. It was time for me to fix what the beast had broken.

I stood, my heart beating hard in my chest. I couldn’t stand the thought of ruining t

KADE’S POVBy the time I returned home, it was dark.Standing in front of the huge mansion, my heart did a flip when I remembered what was waiting for me inside—Andrea, Matteo, Luca.My family. I knew it was too soon and maybe presumptuous to think of them that way, but that was what they were, and I would do everything in my power to make it official. When I walked into the house, I heard the faint animated sound of cartoons coming from the second floor.I passed a few of my pack members, who bowed reverently as I walked. I wondered distractedly what they thought about the guests I had over. Not that their opinions mattered—Andrea was my future Luna, and the twins were my heirs. That was that.“Daddy!” My heart swelled to the point of bursting when Matteo and Luca stood to their feet when I entered the second-floor living room and rushed to me.I crouched down in time to catch them in my arms, inh

  • Shifted Fate: The Alpha Begs Me Back   Chapter 114: PRETTY FUCKING CONVENIENT

KADE’S POVAfter I turned off the engine in front of the border, I hesitated. When I was reviewing reports and bringing myself up to speed on pack updates, I learned that a riot had occurred near the border due to issues with the mania and the defective antidote that Mason had gone to quell.I hesitated now because I was here to see him.On one hand, I still felt things were…awkward between us after Fenrath kicked his ass black and blue. On the other hand, there was the issue of the false paternity test he had presented to me.Had it been a mistake? Or could I not trust my Beta?‘Let’s go find out,’ Jaxon said.‘And bash his head in if it turns out he’s a crook,’ Fenrath added.I rolled my eyes and opened the door. The guards bowed to me reverently, and I nodded in response. “Where’s Beta Mason?”“In the main office, Alpha,” one replied

ANDREA’S POVI wrapped my arms around Marissa, and she dissolved into a puddle of tears on my shoulder. My chest tightened at the news that her mate had been hurt in the attack.Kade and I were only just finding our way back to each other, slowly getting over all the obstacles that had kept us apart. Still, the thought of him getting so much as a paper cut yanked at something inside me.I felt the couch dip under Kade’s weight as he sat beside me. I turned to him, and we shared a tender look that told me his thoughts were similar to mine. We could understand Marissa a little better,For a long while, she held on to me, sobbing brokenly. Finally, her wails softened to little hiccups, and she lifted her head off my shoulder.“I’m sorry,” she whispered. She raised her red-rimmed eyes to Kade and repeated, “I’m sorry.”Kade nodded. “I didn’t attack your pack, Marissa. And

KADE’S POV“Oatmeal, plain eggs, tofu, avocados—”“And blue cheese!” Luca piped in.“Yeah,” Matteo nodded seriously. “And blue cheese. We hate blue cheese.”I nodded, my expression just as serious as Matteo’s, as I listened intently to all the foods the twins hated. “And blue cheese, got it.”Andrea snickered behind her hands, and I glanced at her. “What?”She shrugged, her hazel eyes dancing brightly. “Nothing.”I raised a brow at her, and she dropped her hand, revealing a full, bright smile that made my heart skip a beat. “Just…” She shrugged again. “This is nice.”‘Nice’ was an understatement. The four of us were at the dining table, having a breakfast of pancakes and scrambled—not plain—eggs. My grandfather had come in earlier, taken a glance at the scene—a

  • Shifted Fate: The Alpha Begs Me Back   Chapter 110: I FEEL YOU

ANDREA’S POVI wrapped an arm around Matteo and kissed his forehead. I wondered if he could feel my heart pounding wildly in my chest.“Next time you…feel these things,” I said softly. “Don’t tell anyone, okay? Only mommy.” It wasn’t unheard of for werewolves to have telepathic connections, especially with relatives. I mean, it was the whole basis for the mind-link.But Matteo was young, way too young. And when you added the probability of him carrying the beast gene and the curse…Safe to say, I was a terrified mother.Matteo finally drifted off to sleep, and I watched him and Luca for a long while. I loved them so much; I knew if anything hurt them, my world would end.So I had to make sure nothing hurt them. Not even themselves. After a while, I extricated myself from the middle of the large bed and crept out of the room. Thanks to my earlier nap and the effects of jet lag, I was wide awake. Since I hadn’t actually been assigned a room of my own, I decided to go looking for Kade.H

ANDREAS’S POVI’d never known Nico’s late mate and wife, Carlotta, but he’d talked about her with so much love in his voice and sorrow in his eyes that I knew her untimely demise had wrecked him.So the revelation that he had a second chance mate was quite exciting. Nico was an amazing person, and he deserved all the happiness in the world. But on the heels of that excitement came concern. I was happy that Nico had found his mate, but I didn’t know if I could say the same for his mate.Bella had been hurt badly, and it didn’t take a genius to put the pieces of the puzzle together and realize which group of people had hurt her. She’d been violated by male wolves; could she handle the fact that she had a werewolf mate?“Can I see her?” Nico asked softly, and I saw the concern in his eyes.It broke my heart to tell him, “I don’t think that’s a good idea. At least not right now.”He sighed heavily but looked resigned as if he’d expected that response.“Do you…do you know how she got hurt

  • Shifted Fate: The Alpha Begs Me Back   Chapter 108: SECOND CHANCE

NICO’S POVWhen Alpha Andrea called me requesting my help with a private jet and a pilot to New York, I was more than happy to volunteer my services.Yes, I was helping my Alpha, but other than that, my reasons were a little selfish.I needed a break. It had been more stressful than I liked to admit, managing the pack while Alpha had been away, especially when the attacks started. As if that wasn’t enough, I had to schedule in almost weekly parent-teacher meetings because my last son, Diego, thought pranks like gluing all his teacher’s books to her desk, paint-bombing the library, and dyeing all the lab coats bright red were funny. It took all of my influence and a shit ton of money to keep the boy from being expelled. So when the opportunity to take a break in America presented itself, you can imagine I jumped at it.I knew things were tense with Kade’s sister’s disappearance, but I didn’t think I would be deeply involved. I figured I would just help take care of the twins and assist

  • Shifted Fate: The Alpha Begs Me Back   Chapter 107: A HUNDRED PERCENT HUMAN

ANDREA’S POVThe exhaustion of being awake and on edge for so many hours was beginning to wear on me, but as Kade sped through traffic like a madman, the adrenaline kept me awake, alert, and even more on edge.I kept alternating between hoping that the woman at the factory was Nora—because that meant that we’d found her—and hoping that the woman wasn’t Nora—because I couldn’t stand the thought of my friend bruised and battered. While he drove, our hands were intertwined, and we regularly gave each other reassuring squeezes. Finally, we got to the factory, and after the guard saw me in the passenger seat, the gates were opened.Nico and Gina were already waiting for us at the entrance. When I got out of the car, I pulled Gina into a brief hug. She’d been running point on the business while I was back in Italy and had been sending daily reports. She was doing great, and it gave me enough headspace to worry about the other problems in my pack.“What happened?” I asked. “Is it Nora?”Nico
