ANDREA’S POV

The microphone slipped from my hand and fell to the floor with a resounding shriek that would have had me covering my ears if I wasn’t frozen with shock.

After being an absolute monster for the past few days. Kade had shown up at the press conference. I thought he’d come to cause more trouble. To taunt me and challenge my victory.

But he’d actually honored his part of the challenge. What shocked me more than that was his apology. I thought it would be half-assed and grudging, but it had been sincere.

If I didn’t know any better, I could have been convinced that he meant it.

And then the most shocking event of them all, instead of letting me end the bond between us like we’d agreed, like he wanted me to do, Kade Nightshade fucking kissed me.

In front of a bunch of reporters streaming live for the whole world to see.

As I had that realization, my shock evaporated, replaced by anger. My eyes flew open and I shoved Kade back angrily.

He must not have been expecting that, or t

ANDREA’S POVI wrapped an arm around Matteo and kissed his forehead. I wondered if he could feel my heart pounding wildly in my chest.“Next time you…feel these things,” I said softly. “Don’t tell anyone, okay? Only mommy.” It wasn’t unheard of for werewolves to have telepathic connections, especially with relatives. I mean, it was the whole basis for the mind-link.But Matteo was young, way too young. And when you added the probability of him carrying the beast gene and the curse…Safe to say, I was a terrified mother.Matteo finally drifted off to sleep, and I watched him and Luca for a long while. I loved them so much; I knew if anything hurt them, my world would end.So I had to make sure nothing hurt them. Not even themselves. After a while, I extricated myself from the middle of the large bed and crept out of the room. Thanks to my earlier nap and the effects of jet lag, I was wide awake. Since I hadn’t actually been assigned a room of my own, I decided to go looking for Kade.H

ANDREAS’S POVI’d never known Nico’s late mate and wife, Carlotta, but he’d talked about her with so much love in his voice and sorrow in his eyes that I knew her untimely demise had wrecked him.So the revelation that he had a second chance mate was quite exciting. Nico was an amazing person, and he deserved all the happiness in the world. But on the heels of that excitement came concern. I was happy that Nico had found his mate, but I didn’t know if I could say the same for his mate.Bella had been hurt badly, and it didn’t take a genius to put the pieces of the puzzle together and realize which group of people had hurt her. She’d been violated by male wolves; could she handle the fact that she had a werewolf mate?“Can I see her?” Nico asked softly, and I saw the concern in his eyes.It broke my heart to tell him, “I don’t think that’s a good idea. At least not right now.”He sighed heavily but looked resigned as if he’d expected that response.“Do you…do you know how she got hurt

  • Shifted Fate: The Alpha Begs Me Back   Chapter 108: SECOND CHANCE

NICO’S POVWhen Alpha Andrea called me requesting my help with a private jet and a pilot to New York, I was more than happy to volunteer my services.Yes, I was helping my Alpha, but other than that, my reasons were a little selfish.I needed a break. It had been more stressful than I liked to admit, managing the pack while Alpha had been away, especially when the attacks started. As if that wasn’t enough, I had to schedule in almost weekly parent-teacher meetings because my last son, Diego, thought pranks like gluing all his teacher’s books to her desk, paint-bombing the library, and dyeing all the lab coats bright red were funny. It took all of my influence and a shit ton of money to keep the boy from being expelled. So when the opportunity to take a break in America presented itself, you can imagine I jumped at it.I knew things were tense with Kade’s sister’s disappearance, but I didn’t think I would be deeply involved. I figured I would just help take care of the twins and assist

ANDREA’S POVThe exhaustion of being awake and on edge for so many hours was beginning to wear on me, but as Kade sped through traffic like a madman, the adrenaline kept me awake, alert, and even more on edge.I kept alternating between hoping that the woman at the factory was Nora—because that meant that we’d found her—and hoping that the woman wasn’t Nora—because I couldn’t stand the thought of my friend bruised and battered. While he drove, our hands were intertwined, and we regularly gave each other reassuring squeezes. Finally, we got to the factory, and after the guard saw me in the passenger seat, the gates were opened.Nico and Gina were already waiting for us at the entrance. When I got out of the car, I pulled Gina into a brief hug. She’d been running point on the business while I was back in Italy and had been sending daily reports. She was doing great, and it gave me enough headspace to worry about the other problems in my pack.“What happened?” I asked. “Is it Nora?”Nico

ANDREA’S POVFor one confusing moment, Kade and I just stood there, blinking at Marissa. Then Kade snapped. “Is this some kind of fucking joke?” he snarled, charging at her.I gripped his arm, holding him back.“You said you would tell us where Nora was,” I said to Marissa. She wrung her hands, clearly unsettled by the murderous look in Kade’s eyes. “I said I would tell you what I knew.” She shrugged helplessly. “That’s all I know.”Kade laughed bitterly. “And you think that’s enough? Do we look like fools to you?”“I’m sorry,” she said. “If I knew more, I would tell you, I swear,” she said earnestly. I sensed she was telling the truth. Marissa didn’t seem anything like her father or sister. I didn’t think she was manipulating us.I squeezed Kade’s bicep, and he relaxed. “Our deal still stands,” I assured Marissa. “As long as you help however way you can. Can you think of anything else? A clue as to where she went from here.”Marissa held up a finger and disappeared down the hall.Whi

ANDREA’S POVKade didn't move an inch, neither did he release his hold on Derek when he hissed at the woman, “Speak.”She shook her head, her blonde curls swishing across her face. “Let my father go.”Despite the fear making her voice shake, her eyes were firm, and I had to admire anyone that had the gall to face Kade when he went all angry Alpha.I stepped forward and placed a hand on his back.“Kade,” I said softly.I felt his muscles loosen under my touch, and after a beat, his hands dropped from Derek's collar, and he took one step back.Derek slid to the floor, clutching his neck and coughing. He glared up at Kade with molten hate in his eyes. His daughter surged forward and dropped to her knees beside him. “Dad!” she cried. “Are you okay?”“M-Marissa,” he coughed. “Go to your room.”She shook her head. “No.”“Now!”“No!”“I don't want you anywhere near the enemy!” he growled. “They already took your sister from me.”Marissa shook her head. “Don't you see?” She pointed in Kade's

ANDREA’S POV“What the hell did you just say?” Easton snapped, and Kade and I gaped at Zayne.Zayne ignored Kade’s grandfather, and spoke to me. “Luca’s watch.”I blinked. “Luca’s wa—”A soft gasp escaped me. The same way the twins had tracked Nora here, to Kade's house. She must have still had Luca’s watch.I moved towards Zayne, grabbing Kade's hand. “Come on,” I said, leading him out of the office.“Will someone tell me what the fuck–” Kade slammed the door, cutting off Easton's question.Zayne led the way up the grand stairs that opened into a long hallway.“Luca woke up when we tried to put them down to sleep,” he explained. “Matteo told him Aunty Nora was missing again, and he asked if anyone had checked his watch’s location because she still had it.Nico produced his laptop, Matteo did his creepily brilliant computer magic and located Nora’s last known signal.”Kade glanced at me, his face a mixture of awe and hope.Awe at what the twins had discovered. Hope that we would find

  • Shifted Fate: The Alpha Begs Me Back   Chapter 103: KEEP YOURSELF IN LINE

ANDREA’S POVIf Easton was trying to terrify me, he was doing a splendid job of it.Only two things were running around in my head, chasing themselves in a circle. My children were hybrids. Like Nora. Like Kade.My children had something evil living in their heads, just waiting to awaken and wreak havoc.I felt Easton’s gaze on me, and I met it head-on, not letting him see just how terrified his information had made me.“You sensed it, right?” he said softly, but not gently. “The dark one already shows signs.”My heart stuttered. “Wh-what?”He raised an eyebrow expectantly, like he was waiting for me to figure it out for myself. The dark one…I closed my eyes and took a breath. I remembered once, a year ago, when Matteo had been playing with this toy robot I’d gotten for him and his brother. He must have played with it a little too hard because the toy broke. He’d started to cry and scream, and when I rushed to comfort him, there was this…energy that knocked me off my feet.I’d never

KADE’S POVI jumped slightly when my grandfather slammed his hand against the table. “Kade!”Both Fenrath and Jaxon bristled at the tone he used.“What?” I growled.“How can you give out a family secret to strangers so carelessly?” he asked furiously.I bared my teeth. “They’re not strangers,” I declared. I turned back and reached for Andrea’s hand, pulling her toward me. “They’re my family.”I held up our intertwined hands. “She’s my Luna.”I knew we hadn’t properly discussed this, and my sudden announcement could have dire consequences against my fragile relationship with Andrea, but at that moment, all I wanted to do was declare it from the rooftops that she was mine. And I was hers. She put my fears to rest when she squeezed my hand gently.“It’s too soon after the end of your engagement to Natasha to be choosing a Luna,” my grandfather said through gritted teeth.I knew the only reason he'd let me break off the engagement with Natasha was that he’d found out Andrea was an Alpha,
