Chapter 1010

The faces of the Kalen family members turned stormy in unison. None of them had expected Sharon not only to strike first with her accusations but to play the fool on top of it.

Silas, hot-tempered as ever, was the first to lose control. He jabbed a finger at her and roared, "Keep pretending, Sharon! Don't think we don't know exactly what you've done!"

Sharon widened her eyes in surprise. "Oh? From the way you say that, it sounds like you know who's been chasing me. It seems I'm the only one who doesn't know what terrible crime I've committed, or whom I've supposedly offended."

Her tone was mild, even earnest, as she pressed on, "Then please, enlighten me, Silas. What unforgivable sin have I committed to deserve being hunted down and nearly killed?"

Silas opened his mouth reflexively. "You clearly—"

But the rest of the sentence caught in his throat. He suddenly realized that Sharon's preemptive words had backed them all into a corner.
