Chapter 2

작가: Yam Kitty
After coming out of the private room, Ingrid gave me two thumbs up and asked me, "Are you certain about it this time, Lexy?"

I stood at the entrance to the club and looked at Noah's car parked right next to Quincy's bright red, limited-edition sports car, which he had so generously bought for her. For some reason, the cars looked like they belonged together and relied on each other.

Noah had always been brazen when pursuing women. Back in the days when he'd been pursuing me, he kept buying me flowers and treating me to dinner every day.

He would keep appearing before my eyes as if wanting the whole world to know that he'd managed to win me over simply by making his presence known to me as often as he could.

We dated for three years and had been married for the next three years. He must have grown bored with me then and started treating me coldly since.

He told me that he didn't like wilful and headstrong women like me.

However, he knew from the start that I was the racing club's manager and the best female racer. I handled more than half of the club's administrative work in my position.

Noah had been getting even more out of hand for the last two years. He would always bring home random women every other day.

I couldn't bear it any longer and fought with him. Every time we fought, however, he would then threaten me with divorce.

In the past, I would always cave in first and apologize. I hadn't wanted to leave him. And he knew that I'd never want to divorce him, so he just got even worse. Now, he didn't even bother hiding his flings from me. He'd make sure that I knew he was pursuing other women under my nose.

He'd gift them flowers, luxury bags, and even sports cars.

Bastard. Those were all our marital assets! I couldn't let him get away with it any longer.

I took my spare key and got into Noah's car. Then, after calculating the angle and the force needed, I used my actions to give Ingrid the answer to her question.

Crash!

I rammed Noah's car into Quincy's brand-new sports car and shoved it right into the wall. That car was as good as gone.

Then, I threw the spare key to the ground, got out of the car, and left.

The sun was bright and piercing. Its rays shone mercilessly on the broken pieces of our marriage, which I had tried to mend and uphold for years.

That night, I received a video from Ingrid. In the video, Quincy was crying hard as she draped herself over Noah's lap.

"My car… How did my car end up like this?"

Noah was standing on the balcony, smoking with a frustrated look on his face. It looked like he'd already seen the security footage of what happened.

"She's gone overboard… Mr. Lloyd, I'm not sad about the car… But it's a gift that you just got me three days ago… Let's call the police…"

Someone piped up softly, "I don't think calling the police would help. Lexy is Mr. Lloyd's wife, so whatever is his is also hers. The police can't do anything if she crashed into her own car…"

Someone else tutted and said, "Lexy sure is a brazen one."

Noah snuffed out his cigarette forcefully. "Brilliant, just brilliant! I'm definitely going to the courthouse tomorrow for the divorce!"

I turned off the video and started organizing all the documents needed for the divorce.

The next day, I arrived at the courthouse bright and early.

Surprisingly, I sighed in relief when I saw Noah coming out of a cab at the courthouse.

"Lexy, I'm giving you one last chance…"

I stood there and looked at him with a fake smile. "One last chance, by giving my third place and medal to Quincy, apologizing to her, and buying her another limited edition sports car?"

Noah's face remained grim. "Quincy is a good person. I won't let her suffer like this!"

"If that's the case, how could you bear to keep her as your mistress? Why don't you just give her a proper title instead? I'll help you."

I burst into laughter and headed into the courthouse.

Noah followed suit, his face as black as thunder, practically throwing all his documents down on the table.

The employee at the counter saw our hostile attitude toward each other and didn't bother asking for any more details. A few minutes later, we finally got our copies of the divorce certificate.

It happened so quickly that Noah seemed as if he still hadn't managed to wrap his head around it yet.

He gripped the certificate so tightly that his knuckles turned white.

"If this is some ploy of yours to try and grab my attention on purpose, let me tell you that it's not working! I'm going to see how you're planning to turn this around after making such a huge fuss about it!"

To him, breaking my leg and staying at the hospital for a whole month had just been a ploy to grab his attention. And divorcing him was just another underhanded way of mine to create a huge fuss about everything.

I had no idea how Noah and I ended up like this. However, I had made up my mind, and I wasn't going to look back this time.

I threw the wedding ring I took off my finger last night at him and stormed off.

When I was six months pregnant, Asher came with me to the hospital for my routine check-up.However, someone suddenly ran up to our car and stopped us at the hospital exit.It wasn't until the person raised his head to look at me that I realized in shock that it was Noah. His hair was unkempt, his clothes were a mess, and he looked in a sorry state. When he saw me rolling down the window, he quickly rushed over to me, but he was immediately held back by the two bodyguards watching us. One of the bodyguards even delivered a swift kick to Noah's legs, causing him to trip and splay out on the ground.Noah lay sprawled and struggled as he yelled, "Lexy! Lexy Jameson! Can't you please put in a good word for me on the account that we used to be married to each other in the past? Please, Lexy, I'm begging you! Tell Mr. Princeton to have mercy on me! I'm about to go bankrupt!"I looked at Asher in confusion. The Princetons had taken extremely good care of me for the past few months, and

I agreed to Asher's proposal. And so, with the rest of Asher's family as witnesses, the engagement between him and Giselle was officially called off.Never in my wildest dreams would I have ever thought that the Princetons would be so accepting of me so quickly.Asher's dad, George Princeton, told me that they trusted Asher's tastes in women and couldn't care less about my family background. After all, no matter how poor or rich of a background I came from, they would still be eons richer than me.They even asked a world-famous orthopedist to take a look at my leg. He told them that my injury had healed well and that there wouldn't be any lingering side effects afterward. Still, Asher's mom, Tina Wyatt, felt bad for me and asked me to stop participating in such dangerous sports after this.Everyone treated me with so much love and respect, like I was one of their own.The night before our wedding, Asher brought me back to our college for a visit. He pointed at a distance and sai

When Asher said he'd brought me home, he was, in fact, referring to Princeton Manor, where his parents and other family members lived. When I stepped into the manor with him, I saw at once that the butler and maids all treated him with utmost respect. They also said nothing when they saw him holding my hand as we entered. I could see a flicker of surprise in their eyes, but that was about it. They never even dared to look at me afterward. The manor was huge. Just as we were about to reach the living quarters, a butler approached him and said something to him. Asher hesitated briefly before turning back to look at me."Lexy, can you… wait for me here for just a while?""Okay."Asher then hurried off with the butler.I waited in the same spot for him. However, I soon noticed a very beautiful young lady dressed in a bright red dress making her way toward me. I recognized her at once as the woman in the photo Noah sent me.Giselle Singer. Her eyes were bright and she held her head

I didn't go back home. Instead, I went over to Ingrid's and stayed with her for a few days.I turned my phone off as I lay in Ingrid's bed, staring up at the ceiling for days. My head was in a whirl.Ingrid nudged me. "Don't tell me that you're still mad at Noah, that bastard."I shook my head. "It's not him."I no longer felt anything for Noah. He couldn't stir my emotions up like he did before anymore.Ingrid was puzzled. "That can't be it. Asher would never do anything to make you mad."I pulled the blanket over my head and buried myself under the covers."I'm just mad at myself."I was mad at myself for getting my feelings involved when I knew all along that this should have been a one-time, no-strings-attached fling with him. And I was also mad that I felt upset about it.Ingrid sat down on the bed next to me and said, "Lexy, I'm going to tell you a secret. Did you know that Asher had fallen in love with you at first sight?""Okay."I sounded less than enthusiastic abou

I turned off my phone.Things were a little tense, and I decided to break the silence first. "Thanks for earlier, Asher."Asher approached me and leaned over, putting his hand on the armrests of my chair. He frowned and asked, "Why are you thanking me?""Because… Because you helped me out of that situation just now…"Asher withdrew his hands and said matter-of-factly, "Of course I would defend my girlfriend if someone tried to bully her. You don't need to thank me."Girlfriend?I looked at him, suddenly feeling taken aback. It was true that we'd been spending a lot of time together. During the day, he would take me on dates, and at night, we would sometimes spend the night at my place or his. He was very energetic in bed, and every night left me more breathless than the last. However, Noah was right. I had to know where I stood. I came from a very ordinary family, and both my parents worked in corporations. Our family backgrounds weren't compatible.I was also a recent divor

"I was one of the judges at the previous qualifying race," Kyle said. "I remember that your club submitted the details of only one female racer who was also a newbie. So, how did Lexy get into an accident at that same race?"Noah looked embarrassed. He stammered for a long while before replying, "Y-Yes, Mr. Sanders, I get what you mean. Let me call Lexy over to talk to you…"Noah then gritted his teeth and took a deep breath before calling my number.I was right by the door when my phone suddenly started ringing loudly. I hadn't even managed to intercept it when the door was immediately pushed open, and Noah stood before me.We only hadn't seen each other in days, but Noah looked unkempt and exhausted. There was stubble growing all over his face, and he looked like he'd just aged by a decade. He used to be very carefree back when I was still holding the fort at his racing club. But now, without me at the helm, all of the responsibilities fell on his shoulders. He had no experience
