I walked in to see people were already seated, Mum walked up to me and reminded me of the speech. I totally forgot to tell Vee about the proposal, and she hated surprises, I even got another ring. I planned on proposing all over again in front of everybody, this would definitely spite my uncle. He wasn’t invited obviously, he would have to watch this. I could literally envision the anger sipping out of him.

I spotted a terrified look on Vee, I guess someone told her already. I took a glass of champagne, walked to the stage, and used my ring to tap the glass. Everywhere quieted down.

“We all know why we’re here, if you don't then you shouldn't be here", I started and people laughed, Vee also did, I hoped it calmed her nerves. It was nothing too serious, just a straight to the point proposal. I'd make sure to lighten the mood so she didn't feel too tense.
