What?
Draven was following me himself now?
What the fuck did I do this time?
Could it be true that he is coming to ‘mess me up’ like Nicholas had claimed to?
The thoughts were running wild in my head and were only pressing down on me more and more as I saw his car nearing us by every second.
“Fuck!” Nicholas’s cursing brought my attention to him, “Why do we have to get stuck in a traffic jam right now?”
What was wrong with my luck? Why now of all time?
Draven’s car stopped just behind us and turning to look back at him I tried to search for him but the windows had been tinted so dark that nothing was visible of the inside of the car’s passengers.
“Do you think he would try to do something here? Among all these people?” Nicholas asked agitatedly tapping his fingers against the steering wheel while honking at the car in front of us with his other hand. I tried to think but before I could come to a conclusion he shook his head and continued, “Who am I kidding? Last month I saw him shoot a person as soon as he came out of his building. The gun had a silencer so it didn’t make any sound and his men were quick to take care of the body but it just shows that he doesn’t care about the place or the public at all. He has money and power to save his ass every time.”
I knew that Draven was supposed to be a Don of the Mafia but listening to this side of him made him seem unrealistic. The difference between my visions and reality was so drastic that it made me frown. I didn’t like it and yet I knew it was the truth, I had been witness of it all. His coldness and his hatred, this was all going to change only in the future. The present him was just as ruthless as the media and news showed him to be.
The realization of the truth and that I could be greeted with another one of his humiliations or hate was frightening and nerve wracking. My blood was trembling in my veins with every passing second that only hypes my anxiety through my body. I could tell that the presence of the big bad boss himself behind us had thrown Nicholas off the edge as well.
This wasn’t fair to him.
Why should he get dragged in my fight?
Therefore taking some deep breaths I unclasped my seatbelt and turning to Nicholas I said, “Thank you for helping me and being there for me. You were a true friend Nick but now I gotta clean the mess I made all on my own.”
Realizing that I was probably going to try something foolish Nicholas quickly turned to look at me and placing a hand on my arm he stopped me from making any movements as he said, “Don’t do anything stupid and just sit here.”
It looked like he was more worried about me than he let on and that actually made me feel guiltier and therefore shaking my head I said, “I swore to face Draven on my own and I am going to stick to my words.”
It felt kind of good to say that and moving to get out of the car I pull open the lock when suddenly I am yanked back by great force that made me stumble right into Nick’s arms. There he holds me tight to himself and in a serious tone he scolds me, “Don’t go finding ways to kill yourself on my expense! Just sit here quietly and we will figure this out, if something happens, together.”
The surprise of this sudden hug had made me numb for a few seconds, unable to react properly but pushing him away at once I looked at him and defiantly said, “I was the one who got you involved and I am sorry about it but believe me Nick. I will be fine. Let me deal with this and I will call you when I get back home, okay?”
He was polite and kind to me since the first time we met and even now I could see the fear he held in his eyes for me. It was unusual but I was thankful for it all and leaving him hanging with a hopeless expression I got out and stood among the honking cars for a few seconds.
Fuck!
I had been acting all brave in front of Nicholas but honesty I am scared to face Draven!
His glaring eyes are enough to make me pout and hide in a corner.
Steeling my nerves again but I took stiff steps towards his car all the while glaring at the heavily tinted windows to hopefully let him know that I was just as pissed as him.
How were we going to fall in love in the future if this continued?
Realizing that the driver seat was occupied by one of his bodyguards I moved to the window behind it and knocking on its glass I waited for him to lower it.
Ten seconds.
Thirty seconds.
There was no response.
What is wrong with him? Wasn’t he chasing after me? Then why is he not doing anything now?
Feeling agitated at the game he was playing with me I yanked open the door and to my surprise it was unlocked!
There sitting before me Draven Calix himself, looking sharp in a crimson suit. His handsome features were focused on a tab in his hand which he didn’t bother to take his eyes off even though I had been standing beside him.
What is the meaning of this?
“I knew you were money crazy but maybe I was wrong, it looks like you are simply a crazy person that’s all,” he muttered still not taking his jewel like eyes of the screen on which he was reading something.
Why was the whole world pegging me as a mental person?
“What the fuck do you want from me?” I asked embarrassed at the lack of attention he was showing me when I had in fact been thinking of the opposite, “Why did you send your people after me and why were you chasing me with your ve-”
Before I could complete that question I suddenly feel a large warm hand grip my wrist that I had been wringing in front of my body in anticipation and stress. The hand then yanked me inside the car closing the door behind me and the next thing I know I am straddling Draven’s lap.
Both of my hands are caged in his hold leaving me with no way to defend myself, yet I tried to get away from him when one of his hands came down to grip my thigh. The sensation making me still at once as I gasped and faced him properly.
The darkness swirling in his eyes were scary as he commanded, “Don’t move.”
It was two words and yet they worked like magic in binding me to my place. His hands snaked from my thigh to my waist where he pulled me closer to him and letting go of my hands he brought his to the back of my neck and in an instant he pulled me close enough to his body that if it weren’t for my hands I would have been stuck to his chest like glue.
His cologne was sensual and comforting. It filled my senses making me lose my mind for a few seconds when I felt his hot breathe fan my exposed neck and suddenly his grip tightened on my body.
“Which bloody bastard touched you?”
*SILIA*I think I needed to run away.“Silia? What are you doing here? Are you alright? Everyone was looking for you. It's time!” Diana said hastily coming to me when she found me in the washroom of my suite. Her words only made me panic more and shaking my head I said, “No, Diana I don’t think I can do this. I don’t think I can go out there like this.”My words must have not sat well with her because she donned a softer expression and with a hand patting my back gently for me she pulled me into a hug.“Come on, tell me what is it? What is troubling you and I swear that I will make it alright,” she said and although her hug made me feel good it also reminded me of why I wanted to run away from my own wedding.“This! See this is the problem! I can’t even hug you properly without this belly getting in my way,” I said pointing at the small bump that kept us apart from hugging properly. She seemed to realize what I had been going through and smiling at me she asked, “What are you afraid o
*SILIA*“I don’t think that Romani would actually set this grand of an event,” Diana muttered from beside me. It has been a week since we came back home and the cold mafia woman who we thought was injured was stronger than anyone we knew and had been completely fine even after that blast. Apparently she became unconscious because of exhaustion and nothing else.“According to him he is creating history and he wants the whole world to remember him and this day properly for centuries to come,” I murmured, spotting him introducing Draven to everyone around while laughing heartily. No one would say that he was sick seeing how well and about he was moving around.“He certainly chose a very strange reason to be remembered in history, ‘The man who gave away his business empire to a Mafia Don’,” Alfeo laughed, chiming in on our conversation.“Do you even know how terrified the public and media is over this? I heard the president is on his toes with this change,” Nick said, sipping a glass of c
*SILIA*“Yes! Fuck we did it!” Alfeo shouted enveloping Draven in a hug which I joined along with the others. We were probably making a lot of ruckus pulling, pushing and rejoicing, unable to believe what had happened. We won!We actually won!A clearing of a throat grabbed our attention as Samantha said, “Mr. Romani is waiting for you.”Calming down at her words Draven pulled away from us, smiling at the hoots and laughter. Looking at me he kissed me once and said, “Thank you, this wouldn’t have been possible without you.”I simply smiled at him and then turned back to the rest as he said, “Make sure that all the injured get treated and rested well. We are flying back today itself and celebrating this victory!”“Alright we’ll arrange everything you just go and meet him,” Gavin said and nodding along as I turned to leave with the others when suddenly I was stopped.“Miss Morgan, Mr. Romani wants to meet you too,” Samantha said, making everyone stop in their movements as they all looke
*SILIA*I couldn’t grasp the sense of reality. I had killed the one person that had previously meant the world to me. I had thought that I hated her a lot but even now when she had said that she hated me I couldn’t help but feel hurt. I didn’t want her to hate me. I had wanted things to have never gone the way that they had.I never wanted to lose her.“Shh, it’s alright you did what you had to,” Draven said and slowly walked towards me. I could see the pity in his eyes and I am sure I looked like a mess but his eyes didn’t stray to anywhere else but my eyes. His gray ones pierced straight into mine, reminding me of the peaceful shine of a breezy moonlit night.Reaching me he first gripped my hand over the fork and prying away my hand carefully from the weapon of murder he took hold of my violently shaking hands that couldn’t control the tension now that they weren’t holding onto the wood for dear life. Throwing away the fork to a safe distance away he immediately pulled me into a hu
*SILIA*“You might have reached till here but I cannot let you go any further than this,” Lisa said, it felt as if it had been days since I had seen her and I wouldn’t have minded it being a little longer or until I died for me to face her again.I still can’t believe she had left me alone there with Luca to suffer, it was worse than simply killing me. She wanted me to ‘suffer’, to prolong my misery.“You really think you can stop us?” I asked, challenging her, feeling my insides burn with hatred. She ignored me and looking at Draven she said, “If you still care about your people’s life then you would back away while I am giving you the chance to. You will lose the game but will return back alive.”Wasn’t she being a little too cocky? If Nick had been enough to take her down alone then the twelve people we had brought with us were definitely a lot stronger.“And lose the opportunity to kill the person who has been the sole reason for all our sufferings? No, thank you,” Draven said wit
*SILIA*“Hey! Hey who are you people! Get off my farm!”A man came shouting at us like a lunatic when we stopped our cars in front of his house.Getting out of the car Alfeo approached the man and introducing himself he said, “We just need a little assistance from you. We need to check something in your barn. Can we please do that?”“No absolutely not!” The old and hot headed man shouted at us, “You think I'll just let you jackasses get into my property just like that. Absolutely not mister.”“We will be happy to pay you a good amount of money for that. If you would just let us in then this briefcase full of money will be yours,” He said, showing him a briefcase that had been brimming full with money. By the way this farm and house looked, he really needed that for repair works and maybe to even live life in general. He stopped and hesitated for a minute when suddenly the door to his house opened and through it came an old lady, probably his wife.“Al? Who are these people?” she aske
