The thunderstorm returned on the day I had him take his shirt off.

It arrived in the late afternoon, turning the sky the color of wet slate and driving the last of the staff out of the building the moment the final bell rang. I watched the parking lot empty from my window, counting the cars as they left until only two remained: mine and his. The rain came down hard enough to blur the glass. I left the overhead lights off and switched on the old brass desk lamp I usually kept for show. Its warm circle of light made the rest of the office feel farther away than it was.

He knocked once, then opened the door when I called. Water darkened the shoulders of his jacket. He carried no folders this time, no props. Just himself and a careful expression that tried to look neutral and failed.

“You’re soaked,” I said.

“I forgot an umbrella. It started while I was still in the classroom.”

I nodded toward the coat rack near the door. “Hang it up. Then come here.”

He did as he was told, movements precise, almost formal. When he stood in front of my desk I remained seated for a moment longer than necessary, studying him. The rain had left a faint sheen on his hair. His glasses had fogged slightly at the edges. He looked younger than twenty-six in the low light, or perhaps just more unprotected.

“How many hours last night?” I asked.

“Five. Better than before.” A small pause. “I stopped rewriting the unit plan at midnight. I kept hearing your voice telling me to leave it alone.”

“Good. Progress is allowed to be incremental.” I stood and walked around the desk until I was close enough to catch the clean scent of rain on his clothes. “Shirt off.”

He didn’t pretend to misunderstand. His fingers went to the buttons with the same deliberate care he used when grading papers. I watched each one come free. The fabric parted to show a plain white undershirt, then that came off too. He folded both garments and set them on the chair without being told. The air in the office was cool; his skin reacted immediately. I saw the faint tightening of his nipples, the way his stomach moved with a breath that was no longer entirely steady.

“Turn around.”

He turned. I placed my hands on his bare shoulders and felt the difference at once. Without the shirt the heat of him was immediate, the texture of his skin, the subtle shifts of muscle under my palms. I began the way I had before—slow, deep pressure along the tops of his shoulders—but everything registered more clearly now. When I found a knot he no longer tried to hide the sound it pulled from him. A low, controlled exhale. Almost a sigh.

“You’re quieter when you’re not fighting yourself,” I said.

“I’m trying not to overthink it.”

“Overthinking is what brought you here in the first place. Let it go for half an hour.”

I worked lower, down the center of his back, mapping the places the week had left its marks. The rain hammered the windows in uneven waves. Somewhere in the building a pipe knocked once and went silent. My hands moved with steady purpose, but my mind was less disciplined. I kept noticing the shallow groove of his spine, the way his shoulder blades shifted under my thumbs, the faint scent of soap and rain that rose from his skin every time I pressed deeper.

After several minutes I stepped closer. The front of my blouse brushed his back. This time I did not move away. I let the contact continue while my hands kept working, breasts resting lightly against him with every slow breath. He noticed. Of course he noticed. His posture changed by degrees—spine straightening, then softening again as he decided not to pull away.

“You’re still thinking too loudly,” I said near his ear.

“I know.” His voice had dropped. “I keep waiting for the moment this stops being about tension.”

“And if that moment already passed?”

He was silent for a few seconds. Then: “Then I don’t know what I’m supposed to do with the fact that I sat in my car again after last time. Longer than before. I didn’t want to drive home yet.”

The honesty landed between us heavier than the rain. I finished the last pass along his shoulders and stepped around to face him. His chest rose and fell a little too quickly. A faint flush had spread across his cheekbones. The front of his trousers showed the unmistakable evidence of how far past practical this had already gone.

I let my eyes rest there without comment for a moment. Then I reached out and placed one hand flat on his chest, over his heart. The pulse under my palm was rapid, steady, alive.

“You’re allowed to want things that complicate the story you tell yourself about who you are,” I said. “Most people spend years pretending otherwise. You’re still young enough to be honest before the pretending becomes permanent.”

His throat worked. “What do you want from me, Principal Voss?”

The question was quieter than the others, but it cut cleaner. I kept my hand where it was.

“I want you functional,” I answered. “I also want to see what happens when the part of you that stays up rewriting lesson plans finally puts the pen down and lets someone else decide what happens next. Those two desires aren’t as separate as they look.”

I slid my hand lower, over the warm plane of his stomach, and stopped just above the waistband of his trousers. His muscles jumped under my fingers. I didn’t rush. I watched his face while my hand rested there, giving him time to step back if he needed to. He stayed exactly where he was.

“I’m going to touch you,” I said. “Not because the mentorship requires it. Because I want to. And because you’ve been walking around this building hard under your desk for days, wondering how far I would take this. Am I wrong?”

A short, almost helpless breath left him. “You’re not wrong.”

I undid his belt, then the button, then the zipper. The sound was loud against the rain. I reached inside and wrapped my fingers around him through the thin cotton of his boxers. He was fully hard, hot, already wet at the tip. The moment I closed my hand he made a sound he tried to swallow and failed.

“Stay still,” I told him. “Hands at your sides. You’re not in charge of the pace.”

I freed him completely. His cock stood flushed and heavy between us. I stroked him once, slow, from base to head, spreading the moisture with my thumb. His hips twitched forward despite the obvious effort to obey. I repeated the motion, firmer, twisting slightly on the upstroke. His breathing turned uneven. A thin sheen of sweat formed at his temples.

“You’ve been imagining this,” I said, still stroking him with deliberate patience. “In the car. At your desk. In bed when you should have been sleeping. Tell me what you imagined.”

His voice came out rough. “Your hands. The door locked. You deciding everything so I didn’t have to think for a while.”

“And after?”

He swallowed. “I didn’t get that far. I kept stopping myself.”

“You don’t have to stop yourself here.”

I worked him for long minutes, never speeding up, never letting the rhythm become urgent. Every time his breathing hitched and his thighs began to tense I slowed or paused completely, waiting until the edge receded before I continued. His hands stayed at his sides, fingers curled tight against his palms. The rain softened outside, then intensified again. I watched every reaction—the way his stomach tightened, the way his mouth opened, the way his cock throbbed in my fist whenever I squeezed just under the head.

When his legs started to tremble I released him. He made a low, involuntary sound of protest that he immediately tried to choke back. His cock stood glistening and neglected between us, twitching in the cool air.

“Not yet,” I said. “You’re not ready to come for me. Not until I decide the timing serves something larger than immediate relief.”

I stepped back and looked at him—bare chest rising too fast, trousers open, cock wet and hard, eyes dark with a mixture of frustration and something closer to trust than either of us had named yet.

“Get dressed,” I said. “You’re going to walk out of this building looking the same way you walked in. And next week, when I call you back, the desk will be clear. The door will be locked. And you will finally stop wondering how far this goes.”

He dressed with hands that were no longer entirely steady. I watched him button the shirt, fasten the belt, adjust the glasses that had slipped during the last few minutes. When he was presentable again he paused near the door, one hand on the frame the way he had the week before.

“Principal Voss.”

“Yes.”

“The car again. I’ll probably sit there longer tonight.”

I met his eyes. “I know. Go anyway.”

He left. I listened to his footsteps fade down the wet hallway, then to the distant sound of his car starting. Only then did I lock the door, sit on the edge of my desk, and slide my hand under my skirt.

I was soaked. Two fingers pushed into me easily. I fucked myself with short, controlled thrusts while I pictured the cleared desk, the locked door, the moment I would finally take him inside me and teach him what it meant to stop thinking. When I came it was quiet, almost private, the kind of release that left me emptier afterward than before.

I cleaned my fingers on a tissue, poured another small measure of whiskey into the coffee mug, and sat in the darkening office listening to the rain.

Loneliness had always been a patient companion. Tonight it felt sharper. More specific.

It had a name now, and a soft-spoken voice, and a body that trembled when I told it to stay still.

Next week I would stop pretending the mentorship was the point.

And I already knew he would let me.

Sarah’s fingers slid lower when I pressed her hand. She found me still wet and open, and the quiet sound she made against my shoulder was almost a laugh.“Still?”“Yeah.”She turned onto her side, propped on one elbow, and watched my face while two fingers pushed inside. Slow. Testing. I exhaled through my nose and let my knees fall open wider.“You’re sore.”“I know.”“Want me to stop?”I shook my head once. Sarah kissed the corner of my mouth, then reached over to the nightstand. A drawer opened. Plastic clicked. She came back with a slim vibrator, the kind that fit in one hand. She didn’t ask again. She simply switched it on. The low buzz filled the quiet room. She settled between my legs, cock already hard again, and rubbed the head through my folds until I lifted to meet it. When she pushed in this time the stretch burned sharper than before. I gritted my teeth. Sarah paused halfway.“Breathe.”“I’m trying.”She waited, one hand steady on my hip, the other resting the vibrator ag

Sarah’s bedroom was dim and uncluttered. A wide bed with dark sheets. One low lamp casting a warm circle across the floor. She led me inside and closed the door with her foot. The click of the latch sounded ordinary. Everything about the moment felt anything but.She kissed me again before I could speak. This time there was no careful testing. Her mouth was open and sure, tongue sliding against mine, one hand already under the back of my sweater. The heat of her palm on my bare skin made my breath catch. I answered the kiss with equal force, fingers curling into the soft fabric of her t-shirt.Sarah walked me backward until the backs of my knees hit the mattress. Instead of letting me fall she bent, hooked an arm under my thighs, and lifted me clean off the floor. The strength of it surprised a short sound out of me. She was solid and steady, carrying my weight without strain. Two steps and she set me down on the bed, following immediately so her body covered mine. The mattress dipped

The car smelled like her.Cedar and clean soap and the faint trace of what we had done still clung to the upholstery. I sat in the passenger seat with my hands folded in my lap, staring straight ahead through the windshield while the city slid past in ordinary daylight. Sarah drove the same way she had on the way to the salon: steady, quiet, one hand on the wheel. She did not turn on the radio. My body still throbbed. Between my legs I felt the residual stretch, the slick heat that had nothing to do with the dress I now wore again. Every shift of my hips reminded me of the mirror, the cool glass against my breasts, the thick length of her pushing into me while her hand covered my mouth. The memory arrived in sharp, unwanted flashes. I pressed my thighs together and tried to make it stop.Guilt settled over everything like a second skin.I had cheated on Mark. Not with a stranger in a bar. Not with some half-forgotten ex. With his sister. In a bridal fitting room, two months before our

The curtain whispered shut behind Elise, leaving only the low hum of the salon’s air conditioning and the soft glow of the vanity bulbs.Sarah didn’t move away. She stayed close enough that the heat of her body reached me through the open back of the dress. Her fingers still rested at the base of the zipper, two cool points against my skin.“You’re shaking,” she said.I wasn’t cold. The fitting room was warm, almost too warm, the air thick with the scent of new fabric and the cedar note that clung to her sweater. I watched our reflections in the three-way mirror—my bare shoulders, the ivory satin pooled at my hips, Sarah standing behind me in black, her expression unreadable. She drew the zipper the rest of the way down. The dress loosened and slid. I caught it against my chest, holding the fabric in place. Sarah’s hands settled on my waist, steadying the fall of the skirt until it dropped to the carpet in a soft heap. I stood in only a strapless bra and simple panties, the mirror sho

I was two months from walking down the aisle and my friends cancelled on the dress appointment with less than three hours’ notice. One had a work emergency. One had a sick kid. The third simply stopped answering her phone. I sat on the edge of the bed in the apartment I already shared with Mark, staring at the confirmation email from the bridal salon, and felt the familiar tight knot of disappointment settle under my ribs. Mark was at the office. When I called him he sounded genuinely sorry, then hesitated.“My sister’s free today,” he said. “Sarah. She’s been asking if she can help with anything. I can text her.”Sarah.I had met her only four times since Mark and I got engaged. She was thirty, two years older than him, quiet in groups, with a dry sense of humour that appeared only when she felt safe. Mark had once mentioned, almost casually, that she was bisexual and that it had caused a few tense Christmases when they were younger. I had filed the information away and never thought
