LUCAS’S POV

The drive to Xane’s mansion was quiet as I pondered the words Bennett had said. Could it be that my father knew Dalton would come breathing down his neck someday?

Finding out that Dalton was my uncle and was also mated to a man made me understand why my father has been so vile to me. He was scared of history repeating itself.

Dalton has been nice to me this last week but the search for his mate had made him a little more antsy than usual. I wonder if my father had a hand in Kyle’s disappearance like Dalton kept hinting.

That’s why I really wish he were the one in that alleyway. I had so many questions. A deep sigh escaped me as I ran a hand down my face. Bennett glanced at me. “You okay man?”

“Yeah, I'm fine, just thinking,” I responded as I reached forward to turn on the stereo.
