And so, I began.

I couldn't hear any movement, at least for now, and so I was quite confident no one was around.

I looked to my right, past the building I had escaped from, where the wilderness lay. There was a tall fence around this ghostly mansion we were in, and the first step to my safety was getting out.

The fence stood around two metres tall, and before it were towering trees and grasses that reached half its height.

Without hesitation, I darted toward it. I ran as fast as I could, and finally, I was in the middle of the green, and right behind me was the fence. I was already panting from the quick run, my heart drumming in my chest as I crouched low, staring ahead while racking my brain for how I could make it out.

Voices and footsteps suddenly echoed in front of me.

I stiffened.

I didn’t dare breathe out. I pressed my palm against my chest, trying to keep my heart in check.

Through the intertwined branches which perfectly shaded me from view, I peered, my eyes locking onto

  • Sins With My Ex's Father   Chapter 63: Elara's heartbreak

Third Person POVIt had been almost two hours since Elijah’s message arrived.Everyone was relieved, especially Barkov. The tension in his chest finally loosened. After all, he knew his friend had feelings for this girl, and judging from his efforts alone, it was obvious this wasn’t just a casual interest.Thank the goddess they’d brought a tent. It was already set up, and the Gamma warriors had gone off to hunt some small game for everyone to chew on. Right now, Barkov was crouched low before the damp pile of wood, brows furrowed, sighing again. His efforts had proven futile, but he had no choice but to strike the flint once more, hoping it would work this time. However, the wet ground was just making it impossible.A few sparks flew, but the kindling only hissed and spat out smoke, refusing to catch. Barkov muttered a curse under his breath. The drizzle earlier had left everything soggy, and this was proving harder than he expected.Just as he was about to sigh again, he heard foots

  • Sins With My Ex's Father   Chapter 62: He Came

Kylie's POVHis eyes were sharp as blades. Those blue irises shone with a calmness that somehow still carried intimidation. But at the sight of me, they seemed to soften. Why did it feel like centuries had passed since I last saw him?Everything felt surreal, so unbelievable that a part of me wondered if I’d dreamed this. Maybe I’d made it all up, created a hallucination to distract myself from my current critical condition. But it didn’t really seem like a dream. Not really. He looked real, too real. His eyes were still gentle, his brows softly arched...Then he approached me.I raised my head, eyes following every movement he made. He crouched down in front of me, until we were eye-level.“You’re safe now,” he said, his voice calm like water, so gentle and smooth... It somehow felt like... Home.****Third Person POVKylie broke. The moment Elijah spoke, her body gave out, not from pain or injury, but from sheer relief. He is real. Her body loosened. Tension disappearing from her

  • Sins With My Ex's Father   Chapter 61: Getting caught

Kylie's POV (cont'd) There would be no hope for my race, or for anyone else.I had important information I needed to pass on to someone from my kind. Elijah, or just anyone, to prevent us from getting exterminated. And if they caught me?That would become impossible. And not just that. I’d seen the way they looked at those hearts, how proud they were to turn my kind into a meal, to put our heart into a plate like a five-star delicacy, and our blood into a jar. I could feel their footsteps now. They never felt this close, like they were just a hair length away. Panic clawed at my throat. My breaths came out in shallow gasps, clouding in the freezing air. My vision blurred; not from tears, but from me pushing myself to my very limit. My body wasn’t built like theirs.I wasn’t bred to run like this.I was built to survive. Then there were three paths ahead of me: left, right, and the middle.Without hesitation, I darted left, heart pounding, head spinning.Just keep moving. Don’t st

  • Sins With My Ex's Father   Chapter 60

Third Person POV"Fire! There's fire! Dracula's building is on fire!"No one had any idea of who had yell, but their voice was like a bell, tearing through the stillness of the night, extremely loud and booming, and filled with panic. Vampires who had long since entered the slumber land snapped their eyes open, bolting upright in their beds. All the vampires in Hollow flashed out of their rooms like lightning, eyes fixated on one particular spot—The place that housed their ruler. Smoke billowed from his standalone mansion, thick and suffocating, curling around it like a serpent. The two guards who had earlier attempted to wake him hadn't even returned to their post when the shout reached their ears. They froze in place, rooted to the ground, eyes locked on the burning house. They exchanged glances, panic flickering in their gazes. What’s going on?What’s happening?Hadn’t they just left that place? And yet now, it was in flames.Without another word, they turned and sprinted toward

  • Sins With My Ex's Father   Chapter 59

Kylie’s POV My breath caught, my stomach fluttering with realization. Of course. Sunlight. The most basic way to deal with a vampire. The oldest trick in the book.My inner self laughed wickedly as I approached the windows, pulling aside the massive, luxurious curtains with all my strength. The bright moon came into view. It loomed over the dark clouds, moving slowly and beautifully like a shy maiden wearing the night as her veil. And anyone could guess what would happen the next morning.Sunlight.Pouring in.Burning through.Burning the old ghost. I turned around slowly, taking in the room again.I should leave.But... I wasn’t satisfied. Not yet.I needed to do more. This alone wasn't enough to deal with this creature. I couldn't remember where I had learned this again, but it was mentioned that the older the vampires, the more immune they were to the light elements. They had long shed their fear of sun, or fire. Sunlight no more could scald their skin, and fire no longer sent

  • Sins With My Ex's Father   Chapter 58

Kylie’s POVI glanced over my shoulder, taking one last look around.I took a deep breath, chanting my mantra. Then I reached for the door. It creaked slightly as I turned the knob, but I stopped myself from flinching. The door inched open, revealing a dimly lit room beyond. It was massive, easily the size of a ballroom, but with a kind of eerie stillness that made it feel even larger than intended, and standing there, I felt so little compared to it. The high ceiling arched like the ribs of some long-dead beast, with thick wooden beams stretching across the top like ancient bones. Shadows danced along the stone walls, broken only by the soft, golden flicker of candlelight. There are dozens of those candles – maybe hundreds – and they're perched on wrought-iron sconces, balanced on towering candelabras, even clustered in glass lanterns on the floor. The flames swayed as if they could sense my presence, but I knew it was from the gentle breeze that had followed me in. They casted long
