I stopped breathing, my eyes locked on Keith's. I heard the gulp of his throat as his Adam's apple bobbed. He seemed so vulnerable in that moment, his guard down, and I knew I could take advantage of that. But if I acted on my impulses, I would surely regret it, especially if he were to sober up the next day and remember what had happened. I didn't want to risk the consequences.

"Keith," I said softly, holding his gaze. "Thank you," I appreciated him for offering me another round of milk. He smiled back at me, but this time, there was no heat in his gaze. The moment of temptation where I almost kissed him had passed, and I was relieved.

His essence seemed to fade away, But his scent lingered in the air teasing my senses. No matter where I went, I knew I would be able to recognize him, that unique fragrance was all I needed to recognize his presence.

"You like milk so much." He says having his seat where he had gotten up from.

"Keith, are you sure you'd be okay with him?" Winifred asks staring at me while I keep my look fixed on Matthew who has given in to dropping me off at home.I wasn't even drunk but now that Matthew suggested driving me home, I had to keep up with a drunken attitude. It's better seeing him with me than Billy."Yes. He's my friend. I will be fine." I assured sounding like a drunkard.Matthew helped me climb inside my car then he shut the door behind me, I expected him to have gotten into the car beside me but he wasn't, so I raised my head and I saw Billy saying something to him... What are they still talking about? I wondered.Matthew seemed to say goodbye to Billy but Winifred didn't look at all friendly at him, they must have had bad relationships with each other.Matthew hopped in the car and fastened his seatbelt while I pretended to be asleep, my eyes half closed, enjoying the sight of him igniting the car's engine and slowly driving the car to the road. His drive was slow but I w

"We better head inside now," Billy says and I stop chucking at his previous words, we turn back to the restaurant, and from the glass walls, we can see Keith and the other students in the restaurant, most of them were asleep or just laughing at each other but they all seemed drunk except some girls who were chatting with each other.Gosh! Even if most of them aren't Christians, the fact they attended St. Penelope High School should be enough to make them holy but instead, they all are giving a bad name to the school. Even the principal son is no different, I thought my eyes catching with Keith's, his face facing the wall while Winifred's hand was on his back.He was asleep as well or perhaps just leaning his head on the table,, and his eyes closed. "We better go end the fun now," Billy sa,ys distracting me from my stares at Kei,th and I look at him with a smile."I'm sorry..." I apologized and he gave me a questioning look. "Ah, I meant... You missed the fun because of me." I clarifie

"Remain seated," I commanded when Matthew made a move to stand up willingly, allowing Winifred to take her seat. The thought of him standing up for Winifred, even if it wasn't next to me, was inconceivable.Matthew glanced at me, his hazel eyes locked onto mine, unyielding. For the past minutes that he refused the drink I offered to him, I hadn't spare him a look as I had feigned anger but I wouldn't ignore him giving up his seat for Winifred."Find another place to sit," I instructed Winifred, who remained in her petulant frown, while Matthew settled on his seat, he hardly made any sound even with his breath.I shifted my gaze away from him, taking another sip from my drink. Darren and Mark muttered to each other, their conversation almost audible had I been paying closer attention. But I wasn't."Matthew, my legs are getting tired," Winifred whined, but I remained silent. I had already made my stance clear."But the seat was originally reserved for her," Darren interjected. I stole

As we walked away, I couldn't help but feel a bit confused and embarrassed. He grabbed me by the arm and pulled me along as if we were close friends or even romantic partners. Meanwhile, Billy was still standing there watching us, his expression difficult to read. I turned around to face him, hoping to ease the tension with a smile. To my relief, he smiled back at me, his eyes warm and genuine."Yo! Keith, what's up man?" A friend who is in Ruth's class says handshaking Keith and walking by past us as Keith had his seat on the chair opposite his lousy friend and he offered me the empty chair beside him to sit as well."C'mon man, that seat is reserved," Darren said and I clenched my fist in nervousness. I bet I would be asked to go sit somewhere else, far from Keith and Billy. I couldn't possibly imagine myself sitting with those boys laughing so hard, it might just affect me, and my heart may start to act up.It's best if I tell them I'd go sit outside. "No." Keith cuts in before I c

I stepped out of the car, waiting by its side for Matthew to appear. I had already called him, and he suggested meeting me outside his house. As I observed, he walked out of their home, approaching me with a shy smile. "Hey," I greeted, returning the smile."Hi..." His speechlessness was evident, and his bashful expression remained."Is this your first time going out to a night event?" I asked. "Well, not technically a party," I corrected myself."Uh, yes," he replied. "It's my first time attending an event with a stranger or being invited by one," he added, making me shoot him a sharp look."A stranger?" I echoed his words, and he seemed uncomfortable. "Not a friend?" I inquired, and he hesitated as if seeking permission to address me as such. "Get in the car," I snapped, my patience wearing thin.Over the last week, we had been with each other for a while, strolling through the garden, visiting libraries, and sharing meals at a canteen. I had even given him a piggyback ride to his r
