A few days after that incident, just when I had finally settled back home, Julian came knocking again.

"What do you want this time?" I asked flatly the moment I opened the door, already out of patience.

Julian looked pale and haggard, hesitating for a long time before he finally spoke. "I received a court summons, Skye. How could you sue me for divorce?!"

Leaning against the doorframe, I quirked a brow. "You cheated first, Julian. What did you think I'd do—just look the other way?"

At that, his eyes welled up with tears. "Can't you at least help me one more time for my grandfather's sake? The company's falling apart—I'm begging you…"

I knew it. That was the only reason he'd come. "Did you even tell him you were coming here?"

He shook his head weakly, all the arrogance from the day he'd fired me long gone.
