06~ Enslaved to Him

Skylar's P.O.V

I felt my heart beat heavily against my chest as he said those words to me. They felt threatening, and for a thousand reasons I want to believe this man isn't just an alpha.

There was more to him that I don't know yet, even as his personal maid, I knew I still have a long way to go before I can get to know what kind of man he is.

But then...his presence was something I couldn't comprehend.

I thought hard to figure out why I was feeling this way towards his closeness. And that isn't something about how, I had felt it the previous night while at the pack's border.

It weakened me, and I guess he felt that too. The way he pulled away from me was an evidence that he sensed it, but he was smart enough to cover up.

His scent filled my nostrils that I couldn't get over with the smell. It filled my mind, took over my thoughts, leaving me helplessly enslaved to it.

Now, even as his presence is just next to me, I seem not to have understood a part of what he had said. I was still trying to figure out what the sudden feelings means, and why I was feeling this way towards my boss.

Worse still, he is the alpha king.

"Get back to work." He ordered, walking out on me.

I didn't stop staring at him until he was out of sight. I pinched my skin, returning back to reality.

I forced myself not to think too much, so I went ahead mopping the floor before Mrs. Marie shows up. And just as I thought, she did so. But thankfully, I was almost done before she did showed up.

She inspected the hallway, nodding her head in approval. I'll say, this is the first time she approves my work without finding one fault or the other.

"Well, it's neat to begin the day." She complimented. "Once you are done with this, don't forget to work on the Alpha's room. Now he is out with Beta Mark, it needs to be cleaned up."

"Yes, ma'am."

"Good. Now back to work."

I returned back to what I was doing, feeling a wave of relief wash over me. I don't want to imagine that Mrs Marie is a changed person, no she can never be a changed person.

But somehow, she seems different today.

After cleaning the hallway as instructed, I went into the Alpha's room. It looked cleaned up, like there has been no one in the room for days now.

Alpha Denver was a neat man, that's another reason why I don't feel too bothered about arranging his room. There was nothing much to work on, so I did the few I could do.

The room still had his scent, like he had left leaving a part of him behind. I took my time to inhale as much as my lungs could carry, my mind went wild... something that has never happened before.

I knew I was going to turn crazy if I had to stay here any longer, so I left the room to the store room to keep the bucket and mop stick.

I made sure I was done with all I needed to do, so Mrs Marie won't have any reason to bother my life. I searched around for Roselle but couldn't find her anywhere. She must have gone to the market.

So, I decided to go to my room and get some rest since I could still feel the heaviness of sleep in my eyes. Lying on my mattress, I dozed off.

I woke up with a groan, I could still feel the pain from the strokes of cane. It's as if it had somehow descended at the part of my spinal cord, and I found it quite difficult to move.

I took my time to relax and get my body fit for another version of work. And it was to my surprise I had slept this long which is something that has never happened before.

I looked out of the window, the afternoon sun shine through my window, casting its light to my room. I went into the bathroom to take a shower.

Geez... I sting like hell.

I changed to a different wear. Don't assume the wear I had just talked about is any different from the worn out clothes I was putting on.

Suddenly, a loud bang was heard on the door. Even as I asked who it was knocking, whoever it is kept in banging nonstop.

I frowned as I opened the door to see Selena standing outside. I frowned, "What are you doing here?" I questioned.

She scoffed. "Look who's asking. Well, Mrs Marie is looking for you, so if you live your hopeless life, you better get your legs out of here."

"At least you should learn how to knock, this isn't your room."

"Oh please, Skylar, can you just get the hell out of that room and stop trying to play right." With that she left the room.

"Why is she calling me?" I asked following after her.

"Don't ask questions, Skylar, just go answer the poor old woman."

I literally have no idea why she'd be playing a jerk on me. I went to meet Mrs Marie only to receive another hefty work.

Not complaining though.

Night slowly came and I gave myself another break to rest. Soon, Alpha Denver returned with Beta Mark. Mrs Maria called me, ordering me to take the Alpha's meal to his room.

She urged me to get it ready before he gets there. I did so, and anyone would have thought I was only trying to play hide and seek.

Thankfully, I got there even before he made it to the stairs. As I reached for the door, it opened. My eyes widened upon seeing alpha Denver standing before me.

He looked me from head to toe, arched his eyebrows like he was going to question me why I was in his room, breathing heavily.

"What the heck are you doing here?" He questioned, walking in while I made steps backwards.

"I...I was just getting the Alpha's meal ready." I quivered as he came closer to me.

He looked over my shoulder, staring at the table where I had dropped his meal. Then he looked down at me, "Just leave the room."

I didn't wait a second to understand what he had just said, I walked past him, rushing towards the door and successfully making my way out.
