Sabrina POV

I shudder as I walk through what used to be a vibrant forest. Now, the trees are mangled and tortured. Their bark crumbles beneath my hands. Not even the rain dares to enter Morvathuun. The wind is so dry it feels like it cuts the skin, and dust swirls around my feet. I pull my robe up to protect my face and keep my eyes on the ground. I don’t want to stray from the path. I have made that mistake once before, and I have the scars that serve as a painful reminder.

Holding my lantern in front of me. I steady my breaths. I hate it here, though I would never admit it out loud. The lack of sunlight puts me on edge. I am jumpy and scared, but I hide it well. I keep my cabin on the edge of the Dead Forest steeped in light. It keeps the monsters that hide in shadows away.

“There she is,” a voice whispers from the trees. “I have missed you.”

I tuck my head farther into my robe and plug my fingers into my ears, but it doesn’t drown out the whispers. My eyes make the

Leonidas POVI have kept my distance from Alora for good reason. She isn’t in control of her powers yet, and I fear she will read my mind. If she knew what I had planned, she would try to stop me. She might not want to kill a child, but it is not beneath me. Anila is a monster. I can’t believe it took me two hundred years to see what she was. I won’t let her come for my mate. Lobo is stretched out on the couch in my office. He is tossing his knife into the air and catching it. He is ready to move into Morvathuun today, but we have to be smart about this. “Can we just go?” He groans. “The sun will have risen over the Dark Realm by the time we get there.” “The creatures inside the Dark Realm are dangerous,” I remind him. “The sun needs to shine for enough days for them to go into hiding or to die.” He catches the knife by the tip of the blade and flings it toward the ceiling. It sticks in the wood, and he sits up. “It would be more fun if we went now. The battle at th

Alora POVAll of the books from Queen Morgan’s library have been brought to the Veil Castle. I am carefully placing them on the shelves. The bindings and pages are frail. I would hate for them to be destroyed because I was careless. I haven’t seen Leonidas since my heat ended two days ago. He claims there are things he needs to take care of in the Lycan Realm, but I get the feeling he is avoiding me. I try not to let embarrassment creep in when I think about how I acted. Feral is the only way to describe how I was. If I were him, I would need a break from me too.Bruno is hovering more than necessary. No one would dare to attack me here. Fae and Lycan soldiers patrol the grounds of the new castle. I am the most protected woman in the Two Realms. At the bottom of the crate, there is a small leather-bound book that I have never seen before. I thought I had seen every book in Morgan’s library. For some reason, I feel nervous as I pull out the book. A strange rune is etched

Leonidas POVI don't know what has gotten into Alora. Her mouth and hands are everywhere. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, but she has gotten much more aggressive since she marked me.Her body is like fire under my fingers, and something feels off. I pull her away from my lips and try to look her over, but she is feral. Her fingers are clawing at my shirt, trying to rip it off. "Alora," I whisper. "This goes deeper than me speaking a lost language. What has gotten into you?"She squirms under my gaze, and a possessive snarl rises in her throat. Her eyes are looking over my shoulder. I glance behind me and see Ivy."Mine," Alora growls."What is wrong with you?" I laugh. "Ivy is mated."Alora wraps her arms around me and continues to growl in Ivy's direction. I expect Ivy to try to turn and leave, but apparently, she has a death wish. She rounds the desk and lays a hand on Arora's forehead.Alora snaps her teeth at Ivy, and I snort with laughter. She is acting like a pissed o

Alora POVMy head is buried in several books that are scattered along the desk in the Fae Castle. I promised Leonidas I would only stay for a day, but that day has turned into two, maybe three. I have barely left this library.“We should get back to the veil,” Bruno shuffles. “Leonidas was expecting us a week ago.” I glance up from the book I am reading. “It hasn’t been a week.” “It has,” Bruno informs me. I slam the book shut. “It hasn’t. Leonidas would have come for me by now.” Bruno looks away from me, like he always does when he is hiding something. “What do you know?” “Nothing,” he mutters. “By the Goddess, you are a terrible liar,” I roll my eyes. “You know I can just look into your mind and find out what I want to know.” “But you won’t,” he grins. “You respect your power and our friendship too much to do that.” He’s right. “Fine. Don’t tell me.” I go back to my reading and pretend like I don’t care what secrets he is keeping from me. The passage that I am cu

  • Sleeping Luna and the Lycan King   Chapter 56: The Dark Realm

Alora POVThe snow is melting on the field in front of the cabin. Blades of grass are starting to sprout from the ground, and the trees are budding. Spring has finally come to the Lycan Realm, but I find joy in it like everyone else. Nightmares plague my nights, and I think they are premonitions.I step on the porch, and it creaks under my weight. I should send someone out here to help Kaia and Elaine fix the place up, but then that would be admitting that I know they are here. I have spent the last six months dodging that question from Leonidas. He barely lets me out of his sight. We haven’t found Alfred or Sabrina. I can only assume they have made their way through the Lycan Realm and are now in Morvathuun. However, I haven’t spoken that thought to Leonidas. To even speak the name of the eternally dark realm is forbidden. It is said that even Hecate refuses to set foot in Morvathuun. I try to push the door open, but it doesn’t budge. Elaine must have warded it again. So

  • Sleeping Luna and the Lycan King   Chapter 55: Rising Up

Alora POVI am lounging on a couch in one of the many Fae Castle drawing rooms, and Leonidas is rubbing my feet. It has been hours since we have heard from Ivy or Elric. The lower levels of the castle aren’t flooded, so I don’t think she has killed him, but I can’t be so sure. I have only known her for a short time, but she seems terrifying. “What is there to do around here?” Leonidas growls. “I’ve got something you can do,” I snort and wiggle my eyebrows at him. “What has happened to you?” He smiles. “You used to be different.” “Did I?” I smirk. He drops my foot off his lap and puts my other foot behind him. With skill, he spreads my legs and crawls up my body. “I am not complaining. I like horny Alora,” he says, running his hand up my leg. “I think we should move this party upstairs.” I throw my arms behind me dramatically. “But I am too tired to move.” He pins my hips to the couch and bunches my skirt around my knees. “My Queen,” he whispers against my ear. “If I

Kaia POVI rush back to our room with Anila in my arms. “Elaine,” I shout. “We have to go.” Setting Anila in her cot, I begin to toss my clothes into the nearest bag I can find. Anila is watching me intently. Sometimes the way her milky eyes follow me is unnerving. Her eyes are the only thing that alludes to her real age. I forget that despite her human age, she is older than Elaine and I combined. I turn my back on her and focus on the rest of the room. “Elaine,” I shout. “Where are you?” Still, she doesn’t reply. It isn’t like her to roam about the castle. She doesn’t like to mingle. I peek my head into the adjoining bathroom and she isn’t there either. I am beginning to feel a pit in the bottom of my stomach. Someone knocks on the door, and a Fae woman stands just outside. There is a letter in her hands, and my heart drops. I already know it is from Elaine. “You can come in,” I whisper. She steps inside, but she doesn’t look at me. Her eyes are focused on Anil

  • Sleeping Luna and the Lycan King   Chapter 53: Family Drama

Alora POVThe only sound in the dining room is the clinking of silverware against the plates. Leonidas is tearing apart his meat with his hands, glaring at Naridah from across the table. Ivy is refusing to sit beside Elric, and he is mumbling curse words under his breath. Vesper is blissfully unaware of what is happening around him. He is just happy to have his mate by his side. Naridah begins humming a song as she chews. Leonidas tenses beside me. I could sift through her memories for hours, but there will never be enough evidence for him to trust her. “Naridah,” I gain her attention. She looks up from her plate and smiles. “Please call me Nari.” “Nari,” I continue. “I think your humming makes my mate uncomfortable.” She cuts her eyes at Leonidas and presses her lips together in a hard line. “Fine.” The room is silent once again. This is possibly the most awkward family dinner since the creation of the Two Realms. Ivy is desperate to fill the silence. “Are mates com
