Leonidas POV

It has been five months since we found out she was pregnant, and five months since I sent Evanora to find the red witch. She has not returned, and I am beginning to get irritated. It isn’t often that people defy me. Alora’s stomach is growing by the day. She can barely get out of bed in the mornings, and I worry that she won’t be here in time.

Alora waddles into my office with her arms full of papers and books. Bruno is behind her with his head hung low. He is defeated. We both have given up trying to get her to do what she is told. The larger she gets, the more scary she gets. Alora has turned into a fair but formidable queen.

After many weeks of meetings and deliberations, the three realms have decided to remain separate. It was a disappointing decision, to say the least, but I understood. We have been enemies for so long, it will take more than a young queen and a baetyl stone to undo it. Alora was saddened, but appointed regents to rule in her stead. Ivy

  • Sleeping Luna and the Lycan King   Chapter 69: The Raven

Sabrina POVAnila is strapped to my back as we follow the path through the Unknown Mountains. The sun is rising on the horizon, and I smile as it beats down on my face. Though the rays are making it unbearably hot and I am beginning to sweat, I keep smiling. After living in the darkness of Morvathuun, the sun is welcome.Anila begins to squirm uncomfortably in the pack. She is probably getting hot as well. I pull her off, and she begins to wail loudly."Shh," I coo, but she won't settle.I glance over my shoulder to make sure we aren't being followed, and I see it. Clouds are forming over Morvathuun, and it is beginning to rain.Without thinking, I set Anila on the ground and move between the trees to the mountain’s edge to get a better look. It doesn't rain in the Dark Realm, or at least it hasn't since Queen Morgan died. Once the dark magic took over, the land became arid and dried up into nothing. But it is raining now.I clasp my hand over my chest and let the tears I have b

  • Sleeping Luna and the Lycan King   Chapter 68: Light Magic

Alora POVI am sprinting toward the flames, but nothing could have prepared me for what was waiting for me. Inside the burning walls of the fortress, all of the warriors are on the ground, blood coming from their ears and eyes, while a group of ghostly figures sings eerily. The baetyl stone drums painfully around my neck. This is why I am here.“Stop,” I shout, and the figures turn to look at me. I swallow hard as I look at their ghastly faces. Somehow, they are alive and dead at the same time. Their shrouds have fallen from their faces, and their white eyes glow. They move toward me, floating across the ground. This is the Hollow Choir I read about, but the pictures in the book did not do them justice. They begin to sing again. This time their song is focused on me. It worms its way into my brain, bringing forth every nightmare I have ever had. I have to fight through the terror. The center of the courtyard is only a few steps away. I can make it. I push forward, dropp

  • Sleeping Luna and the Lycan King   Chapter 67: Balance

Alora POV“You must save them. Morvathuun will trap them in darkness. Only you can bring balance to the magic there. They should never have been sent alone.” My eyes dart open, and my heart is racing. Leonidas is sleeping peacefully at my side, oblivious to the storm that is clouding my mind. No matter my condition, I should have never let them go into Morvathuun alone. I have to fix this. The stone is no longer humming against my chest. It is beating erratically, and the feeling is making me nauseous. I cover my hand over my mouth and choke back the vomit and fear. “You have to find the castle,” the voice urges me forward. “Plant me in the courtyard, and light will return to Moranyth. It will save everyone.”Sliding out of bed, I pad quietly to the window. The sun is beginning to set, and the warriors haven’t returned. They are running out of time. They are running out of daylight.“What do I do?” I whisper aloud. “I don’t know what to do. How do I get there in tim

  • Sleeping Luna and the Lycan King   Chapter 66: Now What

Lobo POVIt isn’t a castle that stands before me. It is a fortress. The turrets are tall and covered in spikes. Pikes surround the gates, and the bodies of those who had tried to enter without permission are impaled on them. The stench of rotting flesh is so thick in the air that I can barely breathe. “Now what?” One of the lycans groans. I don’t know how to answer him. I was a fool for not expecting this level of security. I wrongly assumed this land was barren, void of intelligence. I thought that I would be looking for an abandoned castle. We didn’t bring enough warriors to fight this. Who knows what is waiting for us on the other side. Isabella would have had a plan. She would have talked me off the ledge that I am on. Her touch would have soothed the anguish I feel from her loss. But she is gone, and now I have to do this on my own. As I am spiraling into despair. Elric has motioned for one of his warriors to step forward. He removes his gloves and rubs his

  • Sleeping Luna and the Lycan King   Chapter 65: Don't Be Stupid

Lobo POVI raise my sword over my head, preparing to strike the girl dead, but then Isabella does the unthinkable. She throws herself over her. “Stop. Can’t you see she is only a child?” “Goddess,” I snap at my mate. “She tried to kill me.” The girl rolls over onto her back and cries out in pain. Her body is shaking with fear, or maybe she is still in pain from the rays of the sun. “Please. I don’t mean you harm.” Her voice is raspy, and her words come out choppy. It is like she hasn’t talked in years. I take a moment to fully take her in. She doesn’t look to be older than thirteen or fourteen, but looks can be deceiving among shifters and fae. “You tried to take off my foot,” I shout at her. Isabella scowls at me and removes her robe, draping it around the girl’s body. The girl moves closer to Isabella, but stops when I growl. She looks up at Isabella with tears in her eyes. “I can’t control myself when I am shifted.” “Bullshit,” I clearly sound annoyed. “We
