Chapter 2

Author: Local Universe
Hudson turned and glanced at Wendy. Noticing that she was unaware of Terry's arrival, he felt a sense of relief.

When he turned back, his face was filled with nothing but disdain. "Did that shameless father of yours send you here? Didn't he tell you? This isn't your home anymore. Get lost, you little bastard."

Terry flinched at Hudson's malice, and his eyes quickly turned red. "You're lying! Daddy isn't shameless! You're the evil one! I want to see Mommy!"

He glared at Hudson like an angry calf ready to charge.

Hudson scoffed. When no one was looking, he shoved Terry hard.

Terry was caught off guard. His forehead slammed into the iron gate with a sharp sound.

Wendy's heart skipped a beat as she asked, "Who's out there?"

Hudson quickly covered Terry's mouth and offered an excuse. "No one. Just a cat. It's cold. You should take Gracie inside."

Once Wendy left, he immediately pinched Terry with a cruel look in his eyes. "You little bastard. You're just like your father, born to be a thorn in my side."

Terry struggled. Blood mixed with tears dripped down his face.

Hudson spat on Terry, then shoved him into the snow. "Disgusting."

Terry pushed himself up and continued shouting, "You're the disgusting one! Evil monster! I want to see Mommy! Let me see her!"

Hudson sneered, then kicked the dog door in the gate with his custom-made pointed shoes. His eyes gleamed with amusement. "If you crawl through this dog door, I'll take you to see your mom. How does that sound?"

I stood there, glaring at Hudson. My eyes nearly bled with rage.

How dare he? How dare he humiliate my child like this?

The pain and fury almost consumed my mind.

I waved my hands frantically at Terry, trying to get him to refuse.

I was dead now. I didn't need him to do this for me. I just wanted him to go home.

Terry raised his head, his gaze drifting past me to the lively villa in the distance. "Do you actually mean that?"

Hudson paused for a moment, then bent over laughing, clearly enjoying the situation. "Of course."

Terry bit his lip. Trembling, he bent down and stiffly crawled through the dog door.

As he crawled, he whispered to himself, "I'm okay. I won't cry. I'm going to wake Daddy up."

But tears still flowed down his face, wetting the collar of his shirt.

Hudson pulled out his phone and recorded the scene. The excitement and smugness in his eyes were barely contained.

"What a good boy, Terry. You're Elijah Heath's son through and through—a lowlife from the day you were born. Come on, bark like a dog for me. Give me a little entertainment."

Just as he was enjoying himself, a woman's voice suddenly came from behind, her tone unreadable. "What are you doing?"

Panicked, Hudson quickly threw his phone to the ground and helped Terry up, even brushing the dirt off him.

"It's nothing. Terry came to see you. I was just playing with him for a bit."

"Really?"

Wendy found it strange, but Hudson quickly shifted her focus. "Wendy, it's so cold out here. Let's take Terry inside. We don't want him to catch a cold."

Hudson frowned, his face filled with concern.

Terry raised his head to reveal the wound on his face, hoping to see some sympathy on Wendy's face.

He hoped she would hold him and comfort him like she used to.

But Wendy only gave the wound on his head a brief glance. Her gaze faltered for a split second, flickering with an indescribable rage.

"Is this how Elijah plays the father? It was one thing when he used you to win favor before, but now he's actually resorting to this pathetic act? Does he think this will make me feel sorry for you? Hmph! He's dreaming."

She then turned to Hudson. Her voice dripped with sympathy as she said, "Hudson, you're just too kind. That's why people keep using you."

Captain Pugh said, "Mr. Clark, you are under investigation for child abuse and murder. Please come with us to the station."Hudson froze, and his eyes immediately turned bloodshot. "What are you talking about? I was just rehearsing a school play with my daughter in the room. Those were just the lines. You must have misheard."In a panic, he turned to Wendy. "Wendy, help me explain. You know I can't even kill a chicken. How could I commit murder? This must be a mistake."Watching him play the innocent victim, Wendy felt nothing but disgust. She had no idea that this man's acting skills were so impressive. At that moment, she realized that he was nothing like me. He wasn't even half as good as me.The thought of me only deepened her hatred."Hudson, how dare you lie to me?" Her voice was icy enough to make him freeze as she reached out and grabbed him by the neck. Hudson's face turned red, and he began to slap her hand away. "I told the doctor to only take 400 ml! How could it be 2,000 ml?" Wendy asked in disbelief, her eyes bloodshot."You're lying! You must be lying to me!"Then, she laughed bitterly and muttered to herself, "I get it now. You're not a real cop. You must be someone Elijah hired to put on an act here. How much did he pay you to stage this? Tell me! How much did he pay you?"Captain Pugh shook his head and said, "Whether you believe it or not, this is the truth. Seeing the confusion in Terry's eyes, I was momentarily at a loss for words. But soon, Hudson's actions shocked me again.Gracie's silence made his fury boil over. He reached out and viciously pinched the inside of her thigh. As he did so, he said, "Bitch, you're good for nothing! It's been days since I kicked Elijah and that bastard out, and you still haven't won over that idiot Wendy's heart."Didn't you love playing the innocent one? How come you're failing now? If you had made Wendy forget that bastard, I wouldn't be so afraid. It's all your fault. All your fault!"Each time Hudson spoke, he pinched Gracie harder, as if he wanted to vent all his frustration on her.Gracie, however, seemed to have long since grown accustomed to this treatment. She didn't dare fight back.Instead, she lowered her head, not even daring to cry out.Terry couldn't bear to watch any longer. He whispered to me, "Daddy, can you help Gracie?"I asked him, "She just called you a beggar. Aren't you a

Kieran continued, "They also have some questions about Mr. Heath's body."Wendy lowered her eyes, gazing at Terry, who seemed to have fallen asleep in her arms. Her heart felt like it had been pierced, as if the wind was constantly blowing through a large hole. But reason told her that hiding Terry's cause of death was the only right choice.Hudson quickly added, "Wendy, Kieran's right. Even though you didn't mean for this to happen, the situation is what it is. You need to hide Terry's body now."Wendy stared at him, her voice hoarse as she said, "Hudson, I killed Terry, and now I'm hiding his body. He'll never forgive me."A flash of impatience crossed Hudson's eyes, but he quickly masked it with a forced gentleness. "That's not true. Terry has always been such a sensible child. He'll understand your situation. He won't be angry with you. Trust me, Wendy."Terry curled his lips, and his eyes were filled with disgust. "I'll never forgive her!"But Wendy seemed to have found com

"Wendy, what's wrong? Who are you thinking about? Are you thinking about Elijah?"He smiled, but there was a fleeting flash of coldness in his eyes. "Funny, though, with everything happening to Terry, where is Elijah? This joke has gone too far!"The person on the other end seemed well-acquainted with this kind of situation. Unfazed by her questioning, he replied with cold professionalism, "Ms. Lloyd, please calm down. We're from the Ineford Police Department."An hour ago, we received a report about a strange odor coming from one of your rental properties.
