Chapter 3

Author: Circle Master
That evening, I returned to the room I shared with Alan, fully prepared to break our mate bond, only to find Eden asleep inside. I couldn't believe my eyes.

The sound must've startled her, because she stirred, rubbed her eyes, and sat up. When she saw it was me, she didn't even bother hiding the smug look in her eyes.

"It's already so late, Amy. What are you doing here? Come in. I didn't prepare anything to welcome you. How rude of me!"

My gaze swept over the room, now overtaken by her favorite decorations. There was that little white bear she adored, and the pink curtains I couldn't stand, but she always loved.

A hollow feeling settled in my chest.

While I was still in a daze, Alan and Dexter came back into the room, each holding a bouquet.

The moment Alan laid eyes on me, his expression twisted with disgust. "Amy! Can you stop with the drama already? I told you I'd make it up to you with another ceremony! Was all this really necessary?"

Dexter stepped forward and grabbed my wrist, rough and unyielding. "Eden's been through enough because of you. And now you want to kick her out again?"

I didn't say a word.

Alan slammed the flowers down on the table, clearly losing his patience. "Eden just got back from that frozen hellhole. She needs rest. Don't glare at her like that. I'm the one who told her to stay here and recover. So if you're angry, take it out on me."

Dexter yanked me out the door, furious. "We've spoiled you rotten, Amy! You should be grateful for everything we've done for you. Eden is our little sister. Get your temper under control. If it weren't for you, she never would've joined that pack or gone through everything she did.

"You're staying in your own room for the next few days. Think long and hard about what you've done, and don't come out until Eden's in a better mood!"

Alan gave me a look full of disdain. "Do as Dexter says. If you behave yourself, I'll give you a better ceremony. Otherwise, don't expect one at all."

I let out a cold, humorless laugh. I'd been through too much to still hold on to any hope for their love. At this point, all I felt was disappointment.

"I'm not here to stay. I just came to let you know that I'm leaving," I said.

They didn't love me. And that was fine. I'd go back to my real family—the ones who would welcome me with open arms, with love, and with blessings.

To my surprise, Alan and Dexter burst out laughing.

"You? Leaving? And where exactly do you think you're going to go?"

"You're just some Rogue we took in. You should be thanking us for letting you stay in our pack, and now you're talking about leaving like you have a choice?"

Eden stared at me, her eyes full of mockery, but her voice was soft and laced with pity. "I know you hate me, Amy. I'll go. I never should've stayed in the first place anyway. I'm sorry."

But before she could take a step, Alan grabbed her arm. "No. If anyone's leaving, it's her, not you!"

I was just about to speak when a sharp slap cracked across my face. My eyes flew wide as I stared at Dexter, whom I'd grown up with.

He let out a snort, like what he'd done was nothing out of the ordinary. "You need to learn obedience, Amy. Now get back to your room!"

My hand trembled as I touched my burning cheek. I turned away without a word. But when I got to my room, I found all my things dumped in the hallway—courtesy of Hank.

"Every time Eden comes home and sees your things, she breaks down in tears. I expect you to be more considerate. You've had our love all these years. Now it's Eden's turn. She's been through so much on her own."

With that, he turned and walked out without a second thought.

I crouched down and quietly started gathering my scattered things.

"I'll leave," I muttered.

If that was what everyone wanted, then so be it. I'd give them exactly what they asked for.

"Amy!" Alan stormed toward me, his face contorted in disbelief. "What the hell are you doing? You're my mate! Have you lost your mind?"I hadn't expected him to show up here. Disgust twisted in my gut as I yanked my hand free. The way he looked at me turned my stomach."We're done, Alan. Stop clinging to me!" I yelled. He kept shaking his head, muttering to himself like a madman, "Why did you break the mate bond? You swore you'd love me forever! Wait. This is just an act, isn't it? You're using him to test me, right? Well, congratulations, Amy. You win. Now come back to me, and I'll forget everything."Before I could say a word, Quincy sent Alan flying with a single punch. "Stay the hell away from her, you clueless idiot!"Dexter and Hank stepped forward, their faces contorted with rage."You've got no damn manners left, have you? How could you just leave without a word?""And now you show up at the Bloodmoon Pack's ceremony just to get our attention! You've got no shame!"I ga

I stood there in a daze, letting Quincy take my hand as he started to ramble."Did you know, Amy? I was the one who found your painting that night, under the moonlight all those years ago. I'm not sure if you still remember, but you were standing there, glowing like a goddess in that silver light. You told me I reminded you of the sun in your painting, full of hope and strength."Back then, I'd just taken over the pack, and the weight of endless responsibilities was driving me insane. All I wanted was to run. But that night changed everything. I swore I'd lead my pack the right way, make us stronger than ever."And when I finally secured my place, I came back to claim you as my mate, only to find you'd already chosen that insufferable Alan."As I listened, a whirlwind of emotions churned inside me. I remembered this brief chapter from my past, but I still couldn't bring myself to open my heart to him.Quincy spoke with bright enthusiasm, listing off my favorite things like he hadn

Amy's POVBack at the Bloodmoon Pack, I slowly began settling into my new life. When Mom and Dad found out what I'd been through, I could see the pain in their eyes."Tell me the truth, Amy. Do you still want to be with Alan? If you don't, no one can force you to stay. I can break the mate bond for you," Mom said.I'd been afraid that after hearing everything, Mom and Dad would see me as a failure for not winning my Alpha's favor. But instead, they stood by me, offering the kind of unconditional support I never expected.I threw my arms around Mom, and for the first time in ages, I felt a deep, quiet peace settle in my chest."Mom, I don't want to be bound to someone who doesn't value me. Even if breaking the mate bond means unbearable pain, I'll endure it."Her eyes welled with tears. As she gently stroked my back, she whispered, "Do you really think I'd ever let my precious daughter suffer like that?"Mom took out a potion and pressed it into my hand. "You shouldn't be the on

"Amy?" Dexter gasped, too, though his expression quickly leveled out. "No, it's just a coincidence. They just happen to have the same name."The Bloodmoon Pack's heir comes from a noble bloodline, and Amy was just a stray we took in. If she really were their heir, she would've gone back to them a long time ago."Eden visibly relaxed at his words. "I can't believe they have the same name. What are the odds? Anyway, where is Amy? I've been so worried about her."She blinked those eyes of hers and tugged at my sleeve.Indeed, I hadn't seen Amy since returning from the hunting grounds. I wondered if she was finally reflecting on her mistakes. If she could truly come to terms with everything she'd done to Eden over the years, then maybe I could start to think about forgiving her.Dexter glared out the door, his expression hard and unrelenting. He let out a sharp huff. "She's probably too ashamed to show her face after everything she did to Eden!"I tried reaching out to Amy through t

The day before I was supposed to leave, I got an email from the pack. It was a notice about the Hunt.I'd already made up my mind to skip it, since I was leaving anyway. But then, first thing in the morning, Hank and Dexter showed up at my door."Eden wants you to join her for this Hunt, Amy. I hope you'll think about everyone's feelings. Don't be selfish."With the two of them standing there, I didn't really have a choice.Watching Alan and Eden's intimate interactions on the way to the hunting grounds sent a sharp pain searing through my chest. It was the unmistakable ache of betrayal from my mate. The pain spread through my entire body until even walking felt unbearable. Gasping for breath, I leaned against a tree, trying to steady myself."Who are you trying to fool with this act, Amy? No one cares. Stop ruining the mood and keep up," Dexter said, brushing past me.He handed Eden the most beautiful wildflowers he could find. After seeing that I hadn't budged, Eden stepped a
