Just Hers Alone

Maverick’s POV

I waited impatiently for the woman to bring her to me. I heard some noises upstairs but didn’t want to look rude, so I stayed calm, resting my body on the wall. I wore a hat to stop the stares these humans were giving me. I know I looked quite different in stature and features, but I don’t mind because I wasn’t here for them.

I came here for her, and she hasn’t changed a bit, just as I remembered her. I took a deep breath to stop my anger from bursting out because, somehow, I was feeling her pain.

These people have hurt her. I thought they were her family. I could feel Kyle whining in my head, but I didn’t want to cause pain to her family. What if she hates me because of it? So I waited.

Then I perceived her scent, along with her sense of fear and discomfort. I could have taken her away when I saw her, but I wanted to do it in the presence of her family—I wanted to pay according to human rules. She has to belong to me. Only then will I provide her with the affection she lacked.

Seeing her in the room, I raised my head only to lock up with the most beautiful pair of hazel eyes, a pouty lip and the glossiest golden hair ever. She was an ethereal beauty with which even the goddess might want a raincheck of beauty.

She was my goddess.

“Here you are, handsome. You said you would pay 200 dollars for a night with her?” I heard someone say. I didn’t need to look at her to know it must be her mother.

“No. I am buying her,” I said, my eyes still fixed on her,” For 2000 dollars.”

I heard them gasp, but I still wasn’t ready to peel my eyes off the battered angel before me. I so much wanted to beat the hell out of these people, but I held myself back. I just needed her to say that one word, and I was ready to wreak havoc.

“Mister, why buy her when there are many other, more beautiful women? You just need to enjoy her for a night or more before sending her back. Besides, you are lucky because she is still untouched! A virgin!” The woman said, trying to persuade me.

I sneered in my heart. Does she think I don’t know her reasons for saying that? She dare think she could use her as a sex tool?

“I told you, didn’t I? I want to buy her,” I repeated, facing her this time.

“Mister, she is…”

“1 million dollars,” I said, looking at the older woman.

“Deal!” She agreed almost immediately.

I smiled as I threw the suitcase I held toward her, and the money spewed everywhere. I really don’t care.

I could see the younger one staring lustfully at me too, but I didn’t give a damn about her. I just want what’s mine.

Before I could say anything more, she pushed the girl towards me. However, I noticed that the young woman resisted the older woman’s grasp, indicating she did not want to be sold. She must be afraid that I wanted her for the same reasons as the older woman.

“Mother, please! I promise to be good. I promise to look for a job and give you my salary. Please, don’t sell me…” she cried, refusing to budge.

“Are you trying to defy me?” The older woman asked, raising her hand. Before I could stop her, the woman had rained several slaps on her.

Forget about her being her mother! She is mine now!

“How dare you!” I growled as I took the woman and flung her across the room. She must have broken several bones, but I did not kill her. The younger woman shrinks into hiding as her teeth clatter in fear.

“Please, don’t kill me,” the younger girl muttered, shaking all over.

“She is mine!” I said, fighting hard to control my inner self from popping out.

I turned around to see my girl, afraid. I controlled my anger and walked up to her. She moved back a little, but somehow I felt she wasn’t that scared of me.

“I will never hurt you. I promise,” I told her softly, my eyes locked in hers.

“Promise?” She asked.

“Promise,” I assured her.

I watched her come closer to me, her face filled with sadness. I wanted to hold her tightly and tell her everything would be alright, but I held myself back.

“Get your belongings; we are leaving this place,” I told her.

She smiled bitterly before answering,” I don’t have anything.”

I could see how sad she was, but that’s okay because she would have everything she wanted in this world. There is nothing I can’t provide for her.

“Let’s go, then.”

I watched her take a last look at her so-called family before following me. She still looked sad, and I didn’t know how to make her happy. I wanted to make her happy but how?

We walked silently out of the apartment, heading towards the forest. To prevent her from getting too tired, I walked slowly

“Do you live in the upper east side of New York? You look rich,” she said, biting her lips.

I smiled at her naivety. She must have gone through a lot, but still, she maintained her innocence and pure heart. I wonder if I should tell her the truth.

“I live in the forest—deep in the forest,” I said, deciding to go with the truth. After all, she was going to live there with me—an entirely new world to her with me by her side.

“Forest? What… What do you mean? Are you a fugitive?” She asked, her eyes popping out.

I almost burst out laughing, but I stopped myself as I thought how sweet it would be if I were her fugitive.

Just hers alone.
