Alessandro’s POV

She didn’t belong here.

But God, she ruled the room.

Every step she took across the casino floor commanded attention, a hypnotic sway of hips wrapped in black silk that clung like sin. My gaze never left her, not even once after that stupid man tried to touch her.

Rue moved like she knew what she was doing to me. Maybe she did know, maybe that was why her back straightened, maybe that's why her steps slowed, and every motion more deliberate, more painfully devastating.

My gaze didn't leave her while men turned their heads, not even while women stared with envy sharp enough to cut.

When she asked to sit among wolves to play some cards for the night before I was done with my meeting, I took her to sit on the chair myself, she just wanted to have an experience she had said. So I chose a seat that was almost empty, chasing every other person present.

She wanted experience, she could play with herself till I was done.

And that's why I chose a table that was close to her,

RUE‘s POV His mouth crashes against mine again, deeper this time. Hungrier. There’s no hesitation when his tongue sweeps past my lips, claiming, devouring, taking everything he wants. His hands follow, greedy and deliberate as they roam my body like he owns it. And maybe, right now, he does. They slide down my curves with a possessive heat, fingers tracing every inch like he’s committing it to memory. What started as a tender kiss spirals, fast, into something darker, rougher, and aching with urgency. When his hands reach my chest, he doesn’t pause. He cups my breasts firmly, squeezing hard enough to pull a gasp from my throat, muffled into his kiss. He swallows the sound like it feeds him. Then his hands are behind me, tugging my zipper down in one swift motion. Our clothes hit the floor in a messy blur, forgotten, and he lifts me like I weigh nothing, placing me on the bed with a care that only makes the hunger more unbearable. His palms find my skin again, and my back arche

Rue’s POV“What?” I breathe, the word slipping out before I can stop it, genuine surprise cutting through the rage.“She’s not my mistress,” Alessandro says, stopping just a few feet from me. His voice is steady, unwavering. “You said it like it was fact. It’s not.”I stare at him, still clutching my anger like a shield, because hope is far more dangerous. “You expect me to believe that? After everything I saw? After Italy?”His jaw tightens, but his tone doesn’t shift. “We weren’t together in Italy.”I let out a scoff, sharp and bitter. “She was there, Alessandro.”“Yes,” he says, without flinching. “She followed.”My brows knit, suspicion battling confusion.“She flew out after I did. Stayed in the same city. I didn’t see her once while I was there. Not intentionally. Not accidentally. Nothing.”I open my mouth to argue, to demand something that’ll make sense of the mess, but the words don’t come. Finally, I manage, “But she made it look like. . .”“She wants you to think we were,”

RUE Servants begin to glide into the room, each movement rehearsed, efficient, quiet. Silver clinks softly against porcelain as they set the plates down in front of us, roasted duck, truffle cream, wine-soaked vegetables. The aromas swirl in the air, rich and decadent. But I can’t taste any of it. My stomach turns. A maid leans in and gently places a dish before me. I offer a quiet, “Thank you,” but my voice is a whisper in a room too loud with everything unsaid. No one hears. No one looks. Their attention has already shifted, gravitating toward the sun at the head of the table. Alessandro’s father. He lifts his glass, just slightly, the gesture effortlessly regal. His eyes, however, are trained on Celeste. “You always carry yourself with such elegance,” he says, voice smooth as vintage scotch. “Your mother must be proud.” Celeste glows, straightening with practiced poise. “She is. She always said a woman’s grace starts at the table.” He chuckles, amused and approving. “Wise wo

RUEAs soon as we step inside, the air changes. My throat tightens, my chest locks up. I keep walking until we’re out of sight, then stop near the staircase, needing something, anything, to hold me upright.Claire turns toward me, concern etched across her face. “Are you okay?” she asks gently.I exhale, but the breath shakes on its way out. “Why does he hate me so much?” My voice cracks. “I’ve never even done anything to him.”Claire glances toward the entrance, jaw tight. “It’s not about you. It never was. He just… doesn’t like anyone he can’t control.”I nod, but it doesn’t dull the sting. “He pretended I wasn’t even there, Claire. Like I was just the dust on the floor.”“I know,” she says softly. “He did the same thing to me the first few years. It’s his way of showing power, acting like the rest of us don’t matter unless we serve a purpose.”I look away, blinking fast to push back the heat behind my eyes. “Is this what I’m marrying into?”Claire’s voice stays gentle, but there’s

Rue’s Pov Claire and I step into the spa, and the world shifts. The scent of eucalyptus and lavender wraps around us like a soft blanket, calming in a way I didn’t realize I needed. Sunlight spills through tall windows, casting delicate, golden patterns across the polished marble floors. The quiet hum of instrumental music plays in the background, strings and soft piano, barely there, like a heartbeat beneath the silence. For the first time all day, I inhale without feeling like it might break me. At the front desk, a woman with a serene smile greets us. “Good morning, ladies. Ready for some relaxation?” Claire returns the smile with ease. “Absolutely. We could both use it.” After check-in, we’re guided down a softly lit corridor, where everything feels muted and slow, like time itself has decided to be gentle. The walls are a soothing shade of pale blue, and flickering candles glow from little alcoves like sentinels of peace. The air is warm and still. Inside the massage room,

RUE I wake slowly, the weight of sleep refusing to lift easily. My head throbs dully, a leftover reminder of yesterday’s exhaustion more than anything else. Sunlight filters through the sheer curtains, spilling across the room and catching the soft shimmer of my wedding dress hanging by the window. For a second, it looks almost surreal, like something from someone else’s life. I reach blindly for my phone on the nightstand, fingers fumbling with hope. Maybe he called. Maybe there’s a message. Maybe he cares enough to check in. But the screen is blank. No missed calls. No new texts. Nothing. A hollow feeling curls in my chest, and I stare at the phone longer than I should, like maybe if I just wait a little longer, his name will flash across the screen. It doesn’t. I force myself upright. There’s a dull ache pressing behind my eyes, the kind that says I didn’t rest enough but got too tired to fight it. It doesn’t matter. Today isn’t the kind of day that waits for anyone to feel
