Vivienne stared at the photograph for several seconds. She did not smile. She did not even look surprised.

She simply studied it.

Elara stood outside the clinic in a loose dress, one hand resting protectively over her stomach.

There was no mistaking the curve beneath the fabric.

The pregnancy was real.

She slowly enlarged the photograph.

She was already far gone. Approximately five months or perhaps a little more.

Her eyes remained fixed on Elara's stomach.

For years, she had waited for this.

The alarm screamed through the facility; red lights flashed along the corridor as the emergency system continued its countdown. Vivienne remained beside the console, staring at the screens. “Move!” Cassian ordered. She barely glanced at him. “The core is still accessible. If I can restore the primary controls, I can stop the shutdown.” “You just told me the protocol was automatic.” “There has to be a way around it.” “Vivienne!” She turned sharply. “Don't stand there shouting at me! Help me!” Cassian stared at her in disbelief. Even now, with the facility threatening to collapse around them, she believed the answer was to save Helix. The only thing she cared about was Helix. He grabbed her arm and pulled her away from the console. “We're leaving. Now.” She fought him. “You don't understand! Everything I've sacrificed is in this facility!” “No. Everything you've destroyed is in this facility.” Her face twisted with fury. “You think you can walk away from this and pretend y

The last time Cassian Rooke entered Helix, he had been a prisoner. This time, he returned as the man to destroy it. Black vehicles stopped outside the facility shortly after midnight. Security personnel moved into position while investigators and technical specialists prepared to secure the remaining servers and retrieve the evidence Cassian had uncovered. The compound looked different from the last time he had seen it, but Helix was not dead. Not yet. A section of the facility still operated on an independent power supply. The investigators discovered encrypted transmissions from its servers, suggesting someone inside continued accessing the system even after the main network was compromised. Cassian knew who that someone was. Vivienne. She would not surrender simply because the world had begun to close in around her. “Sir,” Tony said beside him, “the technical team has confirmed activity in the lower laboratory. The remaining system appears to be isolated from the main network

“Take your hand away from my wife.” Melissa froze. The voice was quiet, but it was the last voice she wanted to hear. She turned slowly. Cassian Rooke stood in the doorway, one hand gripping his cane, his scarred face cold with fury, and he had seen everything.Melissa stood beside Elara's bed, her hand suspended dangerously close to the medical equipment. Cassian remained in the doorway, gripping his cane, his face stripped of warmth.“Step away from her.”Melissa's hand dropped immediately. “C..Cassian.” She turned toward him, her face paling. “I—I wasn't doing anything.”He entered the room, closing the door behind him. “Really?”His voice was so calm that it frightened her more than shouting would have.“I…I came to visit my sister, that's all.” Melissa glanced at Elara, then back at him. “I…I w…wanted to make peace with her. You have to believe me.”Cassian looked at the flowers on the table, then at the medical equipment she had been reaching toward.“Is that why your hand was h

The room was quiet except for the steady beeping of the monitors. Elara lay motionless beneath the white hospital sheets, her strawberry-blonde hair spread across the pillow. The bruises on her face had begun to fade, but she still hadn't opened her eyes.Every morning, the nurses checked her vital signs, adjusted her pillows, and spoke to her even though she could not answer. The doctors examined her regularly, monitoring both her condition and the baby growing inside her.He visited every day, often arriving before sunrise and leaving long after the hospital corridors had grown quiet. Sometimes he sat beside Elara and held her hand. Other times, he stood behind the glass, watching her when doctors needed privacy to examine her.The nurses had grown accustomed to him. They had seen how his expression changed whenever he entered the room. The ruthless billionaire who made powerful men tremble would become strangely quiet beside his unconscious wife.He spoke to her about everything an

Cassian sat in his office, staring at the message on his computer screen.‘You can have the entire world, Rooke. Just leave Helix buried.’His lawyer, seated across from him, spoke. “Once we submit this, Vale will know we've stopped negotiating.”“We were never negotiating.”“Cassian, Vale has friends in places most people can't reach. If we expose him, the investigation could become politically complicated.”“Children died in those laboratories. My father died trying to shut them down. My wife is lying unconscious in a hospital because my mother wanted to turn our unborn child into another experiment.”He leaned forward, pain flashing briefly across his face as the movement pulled at his recovering body.“I have spent enough of my life allowing powerful people to decide which crimes should remain hidden.”His lawyer studied him for a moment, then closed the folder on his desk. “Then we'll make sure the evidence speaks for itself.”“Good. No threats or fabricated accusations. Every cl

Tony placed three photographs on the desk."Two men followed your driver from the hospital yesterday.”Cassian glanced at the photographs. "And the man at the checkpoint?""He claimed he had an appointment with you but had a forged identification card and a weapon hidden beneath his jacket.""Did he say who sent him?""He hasn't said anything useful yet." Tony studied him. "Sir, this is no longer just an attempt to frighten you. They're trying to learn how close they can get.""Then change the security arrangements and make sure the hospital has additional protection.""Already done.""Anything else?"Tony hesitated. "The legal team has identified the company behind the payments to the men we detained. It belongs to a private security group that worked with Aegis.""Add it to the evidence package.""We have a problem. They're denying any knowledge of the attack on your father.""Then find the contracts they signed. Find the payment records and the communications that explain what they
