I woke up with a dull ache behind my eyes. I rolled over and reached for the other side of the bed before freezing.

It had become a habit now. A habit I was going to have to stop.

Every morning, I reached for him before remembering he hadn’t slept beside me in almost a week and a half.

For a brief moment, I considered staying in bed all day. Maybe if I slept a little longer, I’d wake up and discover everything was a really bad dream.
