Chapter Fourteen

They finally land in Alaska; in the car back to the estate, Ariel could still not forget the feeling she had last night sleeping on the same bed with Alaska. Truth be told, she felt warmth from him, different from sleeping alone even though she doesn’t sleep well trying not to pop into him on the bed. 

But it was okay. 

“Are we really becoming husband and wife?” Ariel thinks, she doesn’t feel right about it. 

She knows she cannot be Alaska’s wife even though their marriage had been registered. Her life was not safe; she wanted the family of her own with love and care, and that could only be possible with Jack.

She hadn’t found out what Alaska had done to Jack, but she was feeling good about sleeping together on the same bed with Alaska, a ruthless person at that! 

She believes her feelings must be joking with her, she thinks it must have been because she has not experienced such before. 

She is a virgin, when she told Jack she wanted to keep her virginity until their wedding day, he had agreed with her. But Ariel don’t know, that was the reason Jack wanted to marry her. So, she believes it was because she had never slept together with a man, which was why she was feeling good about sleeping together with Alaska on the same bed.

But she suddenly remembers his word that he is not interested in her. 

“What does he meant by not interested in me?” she suddenly felt angered.

“Was it because I told him I am pregnant?” she sighs. 

Ariel don’t know, but Alaska has been watching her with side eyes as she was lost in her thought. He wonders what is occupying her mind so much.

“Don’t he say he was not interested in me. I will prove to him I am a woman” Ariel feels insulted by Alaska’s word towards her. Also, he believes there is no man who would be able to escape a woman determine to get him. 

Ariel thinks that she needs to make Alaska interested in her if she wants to know what has happened to Jack. She will use the women tactics on him to make him reveal what he has done to Jack, then she will strike. 

She believes Jack is still her husband married or not.

“I will definitely make him dance to my tune” she smirked. 

Alaska frowns watching her smirk like that, she had been carried away with her thought unable to notice his gaze on her. 

“What are you think?” Alaska’s voice interrupts her thoughts. 

She jolts.

“Are you thinking of killing your husband?” he looks to her face to read her mind. 

Ariel looks shocked. 

“Is he a mind reader?” she wonders how he knew what was going on in her mind.

“So, you are really planning to kill me?” Alaska smiles, the smile was not like the normal dry and cold smile but faintly soft smile, his eyes likewise soften a little. 

Ariel is more surprise to see such smile from him, but his face instantly turns cold again. He was actually mocking her.

“You can try it” he said coldly more like a warning. 

Ariel shifts back on her seat fearfully. 

Alaska’s phone rings, it’s Mr. White.

“He actually knows when to call” Alaska murmurs and picks the call. 

“Don, what did he say?” Jefrey who was driving ask wondering after he ends the call with Mr. White.

“Since I pass their condition, they want me to come to the board office because campaign will be starting soon” Alaska’s lips curl up in a smirk. He looks at Ariel whose head was bow trying not to face him with his side eyes. 

He seems happy, becoming the governor of Alaska was what he wanted and because of Ariel he seems to be achieving it. 

“Turn the car” he commands. Jefrey instantly turns the car and head to the election board office. Ariel wonders why they had to turn the car, she seems not to listen to what Alaska and Jefrey was saying because she thinks she might actually die in Alaska’s hands as he dares her to try what she intends. 

Getting to the election board office, Alaska left the car, leaving Ariel to Jefrey.

“Make sure she is safe” he tells him. He believes that Ariel might still want to run away, to avoid trouble since the campaign will be starting soon. 

While Alaska was inside, a group of reporters suddenly swarm his car, Ariel looks confuse to see the reporters. 

Jefrey quickly gets out of the car to block the reporters but they keep coming. 

“Miss Ariel why did you marry Alaska, the ruthless mafia?” 

Ariel had thought they were not about her, but hearing the question directed to her, she gets scared. 

Not only were the reporters there, but mobs too. 

“Crazy woman, get out of that car. We will teach you some sense” the mobs said throwing things at her in the car. 

Alaska’s men had already part ways with him because Alaska believes he will only meet with the election board and return to the estate but don’t know something serious will be waiting for Ariel. 

It was obvious Ariel is their target. 

Jefrey would have result into violence seeing them throwing things at Ariel in the car, but he knew how important the election is to Alaska. If he results to violence, it might have effect on Alaska’s already tinted image. 

He was only trying to protect Ariel; if it was just the reporters it will be better but with the mobs, Jefrey could barely do much. 

To make matter worse they were elderly women, it was obvious someone put them up to it. 

As those women throws things at Ariel in the car, she was force to get out of the car, probably she had panicked and was confuse on what to do. 

When the reporters and mobs saw her get out of the car, the reporters quickly surround her, Ariel looks so scared. She had such experience growing up in the orphanage, children older than her are use to ganging up on her in the orphanage when she was little. 

“Miss Ariel, are you with the mafia because she believes he will become the governor or because of his filthy money?” the reporter questioned.

“You are so young why destroy your own life?” one of the mobs said.

“Can you tell us if you really love him or his money?” the reporters add.

“Do you think he will actually become the governor?” 

“Did he even care about you, as his wife?”

Ariel froze, overwhelmed by the flashing cameras and microphones with the bombarding questions. Jefrey tries to shield her, but it was no use. 

The door of the election board office suddenly burst open, everyone turns towards the direction. Alaska marched with rage, breathing angrily, his expression darkens, he looks furious. 

The mobs and reporters on sighting him instantly make way, they fear what he could do. He strode through the crowd, facing the cameras. 

“She’s my wife” Alaska declares, his voice cold but certain. 

“Because I want her in my life” he swept Ariel off her feet into his arms. Ariel looks shock, staring at his cold and furious face as he carries her into the car. Jefrey follows immediately. 

The cameras clicked uncontrollably, the reporters and mobs unable to believe Alaska, the ruthless mafia had just said something like that openly. It was unexpected. 

Ariel stares at Alaska’s face till they got into the car, he gently drops her in the car, sit beside her, his face seems to be etched in worries. 

He takes off his coat and gently places it on her and look away from her trying to keep his anger in check. 

Ariel could not believe if it was really the Alaska he knew or someone else.

Mr. White who was watching everything unfold from upstairs smirked mockingly. 

“She must be his weak”.
