Elena. So these were the guests. I looked at Damon, who had a small smile playing on his lips like he was watching some family sitcom. At this point, my blood was boiling, and I was on the edge of exploding, but I tried to stay calm. “You look good in those outfits,” Elena sneered, referring to the faded, loose shirt and jeans I had on. I wasn’t given any opportunity to gather much of my things back at the packhouse. “She sure does,” Logan jeered with a wide grin next to her. Logan, my ex-mate. We were a match made in heaven… or so I thought. He was the only ray of light in the darkness that clouded my life. I thought he was the one the Moon Goddess had sent to pick me from the miserable pit she threw me into the moment she took away the life of my parents. But hell, was I wrong. “Elena is my mate, and I’ve deceived you this entire time. We recognized each other the moment she turned eighteen. Dating you was all a game my mate wanted, and it was fun taking part in it.” Those were the exact words Logan spat when I confronted him after I caught him in bed with Elena. Deceiving me wasn’t part of the promises he made to me when he chose me as his mate. “What are you doing standing there?” Elena taunted, dragging me back to reality. “Come and serve me my food.” There were many other servants around, but I wasn’t surprised Elena picked me. I turned to look at Damon briefly, and when I saw he didn’t object, I bit my lower lip and went around the table to serve Elena. “My mate too,” Elena smiled sheepishly, and I felt a pang of something tight in my chest. I balled my fists until my knuckles turned white, steeling my mind as I moved to serve Logan as well. After I was done, I turned to leave when Dwayne’s voice caused me to halt in my tracks. “Where are you going?” He asked. “To my room,” I turned to face him, my lips pursed. I locked my hands in front of me, staring at my feet as if they were some sort of entertainment. “Come here,” I heard him say. My heart raced, and I felt tremors in my bones. What does he want from me again? My legs moved on their own despite the warning bells blaring in my mind. I stood close to him, making sure to keep a wide distance between us. “Come closer,” his voice echoed again, prompting me to finally look up at him. How close did he want me? I could easily take his order from where I was. With some hesitation, I took a few steps forward, but when his gaze locked onto mine, I panicked and scurried over, ending up just inches away from him. “Sit,” his command came again, but this time, it was different. I didn’t hesitate further; I rushed over to the nearest chair and took a seat. His eyes were still locked on me, and I wondered if I had followed the wrong orders. “Isn’t that seat meant for the Luna?” Elena asked disgust laced in her voice. The realization then hit, and I stood up from the seat like it’d burn my skin if I had stayed longer. “I’m sorry,” I quickly bowed my head and apologized. It felt like my chest would explode fell all the tension. I just had to mess up! Damon’s eyes were still locked on me, his expression hard to read. “Sit,” he ordered again, but this time, he pointed to his lap. It can’t be. “Don’t make me repeat myself. Sit.” He tapped on his lap once more. Fear gripped my heart, and I wondered if throwing it all away and jumping from the highest floor in this mansion would be the best choice. I hesitated, my hands trembling as I glanced between Damon and Elena. The latter’s expression was twisted with fury, but Damon’s face remained unreadable. Swallowing hard, I dragged my feet forward, my breath coming in short ragged gasps. When I reached him, I hesitated once more lowering myself slowly onto his lap, making sure not to let my entire weight settle. My entire body stiffened, and I felt my muscles tense up. I jolted when Damon’s arm wrapped around my waist, pulling me in closer until I was firmly seated on his thighs. “Better,” he murmured, his voice barely above a whisper. “Eat,” he commanded next, his voice firm but calm, as though nothing unusual just happened. I jolted when he spoke, his breath fanned the nape of my neck causing my hair to stand. How did he expect me to eat with his hands wrapped around me? “Alpha Damon-“ Elena opened her mouth to speak but Damon shot her a deadly glare and her mouth snapped shut immediately. I watched in confusion as Damon worked with the fork and knife on the steak, cutting them into bite-size pieces before putting a piece in front of my mouth. “You’re too skinny, eat.” Logan and Elena were just as shocked as I was. From the side of my eyes, I saw Logan twitch and it excited me more than I thought it would. Basking in the shocked faces of the two, I opened my mouth and ate the piece directly from Damon’s hand. He made to feed me the next piece but I moved faster carrying the fork and placing a piece in my mouth. I saw his brows furrow…was he angry that I fed myself? We stayed in that position while I slowly ate, unable to overcome the uncomfortability I felt as Damon kept his gaze fixed on me like I was some fascinating creature. I noticed from the side of my eyes, the maids that gathered in clusters behind pillars, all shocked at the scene before them. “Alpha Damon you can’t do this. It is highly inappropriate and Sabrina is a…slave.” Logan abruptly stood up in protest, his hands trembling beside him. Damon spared him a glance before turning to me. “Do you want his head?”Sabrina’s POV“W-what?” I muttered, eyes wide open. My gaze drifted to Logan who stood frozen on the spot when he heard Damon’s words. “Alpha Damon!” Elena stood up in protest, banging her hands on the table. She looked as though she couldn’t fathom what she had just heard.“Do you want her head also?” Damon asked me with a blank stare, his gaze locked in on mine. What was this? I could hear my heart pounding in my ears. The hairs on my body stood as goosebumps filled my skin.At this moment, I didn’t feel fear, nor was I nervous. It was a different emotion, something I couldn’t quite place. I felt tears sting my eyes but I quickly blinked them away. “I don’t,” I muttered fearfully, averting my gaze back to the food in front of me. Did he want to kill them for me or was it just one of his games? I mentally slapped myself. I let my thoughts run too wild. This man was sick. Sabrina’s POV “What happened to Maddie was a tragedy, but it doesn’t put a halt to us performing our duties,” Nanny Tessa clapped her hands. “Now off you go, no more slacking!” The kitchen bustled with maids scrambling around trying to get to their duties. I gently walked to the side and leaned on the kitchen island, spaced out as I mulled over the events from last night. Suddenly Anne slammed a bowl of garlic on the counter in front of me together with a knife, startling me out of my thoughts. “Quit daydreaming and peel off these garlic. Your days of being a Princess are over.” She sneered, rolling her eyes before she walked away. I sighed and picked up the bowl. I would never understand Anne’s hatred towards me. I proceeded to peel the garlic just when Ian, Damon’s beta, walked in with two guards. That guy…I recognized one of the guards. He was the one with Maddie in my dream. My hands froze over the bowl. “Regarding the accident that happened in the wee hours of the m
Sabrina’s POV I ran, my bare feet sinking into the muddy, wet ground, my breath coming in sharp gasps. The sound of footsteps grew louder as they chased me, the orange glow of their torches revealing how close they were. I lost my footing and fell. Looking back, I saw them more clearly—there were about a hundred of them, their eyes eerily white and devoid of pupils. They seemed lost, almost like they had no control over themselves. But one thing was certain: they were after me...or perhaps not. I shut my eyes tightly, waiting for my end. My years of fruitless suffering were finally coming to a close. One! Two!! Three!!! I counted in my head, expecting their sharp fangs to pierce the flesh of my neck, but it never happened. Instead, there was only silence. I could hear their footsteps slowly fading away. Cautiously, I opened my eyes and saw no sign of them. Where did they go? Did they see me? A loud shriek jolted me out of my thoughts. Where did that come from? I got up and fol
Sabrina’s POV A pained moan escaped my throat as my back collided with the wall, his grip around my neck tightening. "Wh..what are you..." I choked out, my voice barely escaping as I was overwhelmed with the powerful aura seeping out of him. I looked into his dark eyes and my words are stuck in my throat, my mind blank, my entire being filled with fear. "Shh. Don't speak." He whispered, leaning his face close to mine. "Just look at me." And tightened his grip around my neck, not enough to suffocate me but enough for me to stay still and get lost in his eyes. This strength, this power that he has, his aura. He's the Alpha, isn't he? “A-alpha Damon?” I stammered quivering under his piercing gaze. I had forgotten the reason Anne came to my room this morning. She had told me Alpha Damon had asked for me. My mind didn’t register that information. He suddenly smiled noticing that I recognized him and released my neck. “Took you a moment,” He chuckled deeply and opened the door t
