I ran, my bare feet sinking into the muddy ground, my breath coming in sharp gasps. The sound of footsteps grew louder as they chased me, the orange glow of their torches revealing how close they were. I lost my footing and fell. When I looked back, I saw them more clearly—there were about a hundred of them, their eyes eerily white and devoid of pupils. They seemed lost, almost like they had no control over themselves. But one thing was certain: they were after me...or perhaps not. I shut my eyes tightly, waiting for my end. My years of endless suffering were finally coming to a close. One…Two…Three… I counted in my head, expecting their sharp fangs to pierce through my neck, but it never happened. Instead, there was only silence. I could hear their footsteps slowly fading away. Cautiously, I opened my eyes and saw no sign of them. Where did they go? Did they see me? A loud shriek jolted me out of my thoughts. Where did that come from? I got up and followed the sound. I tracked the wolves' footsteps, leading me to the most horrific, lifeless body I had ever seen. I fell to the ground, covering my mouth in shock, trying to stifle the scream that threatened to escape. The lifeless body lay sprawled on the ground, torn apart in a way that made my stomach churn. The sight was horrifying—limbs twisted at unnatural angles, deep gashes running across what was left of the torso, and the face... Oh, the face. It was the worst of all; eyes wide open, staring blankly at the night sky, devoid of life. Blood pooled around the mutilated body, the metallic scent threatening to make me retch. I tried to make sense of what was happening when another loud shriek came. No, it wasn’t one. Thousands of screams erupted at once, threatening to destroy my eardrums. In horror, I traced the sounds but then something was wrong. This place was all too familiar. I know this place. I walked with hastier footsteps then it all just came to me. This was Red moon pack. This was my pack. My hurried steps turned into a full sprint until I crashed into a tree, only that I didn’t feel any pain. I passed right. through it. I was in too much of a daze to figure out what that was and I kept on running until I reached the pack house borders and met a trail of lifeless bodies sprawled all over the ground. Some had transformed into their wolves while others never even got the chance to fight back. I ran deeper into the pack and found the wolves snarling and biting every soul they could find. I stood still, unable to move a single muscle at the sight before me. Why weren't the wolves attacking me? Couldn't they see me? As that thought flashed through my mind, a wolf suddenly fixed its gaze on me. His eerie white eyes locked onto mine, and he bared his bloody fangs, letting out a terrifying growl. I froze, fear paralyzing me. My feet were rooted to the ground. My eyes widened as the wolf slowly advanced, causing me to stumble and fall to the ground. The closer he came, the more I knew I needed to run, but I couldn't move. I shut my eyes tightly, bracing myself to accept my fate for the second time that night until... "Sabrina! Sabrina!! Sabrina!!!" Someone yelled my name, shaking me vigorously. My eyes flew wide open, my breathing ragged. It took me some time to recognize my surroundings until they finally landed on Anne who had an ugly scowl on her face. It was all a dream. “Raunchy dreams?” she remarked with a sly smile, “Seeing how sweaty you are, he must have rammed you real hard.” “What do you want ?” I asked ignoring her taunts. My nonchalant response seemed to strike a nerve, as Anne violently grabbed my chin and spoke through gritted teeth, “That better not have been Alpha Damon you were dreaming about because if it was…” “…and if it was, what would you do?” I said calmly. She released my chin forcefully, tilting my head to the side. “Alpha Damon wouldn’t even spare you a glance. To him you’re nothing but an object. A slave.” She scoffed and made to leave with her head up high before she halted her steps, “Speaking of Alpha Damon, He wants you to meet him at the dining. Don’t keep him waiting.” And with that, she left. I sank into my bed with a loud sigh the moment Anne left. Bizarre of her to think I had the hots for my enslaver, someone I had never seen, but that was the last thing on my mind right now. My weird dream consumed my thoughts. I tried to decipher it. The wolves, my pack, being able to walk through trees… I ran my fingers through my damp hair. Anne was right, I sweated buckets because my fingers couldn’t even pass through the wet locks of my hair. I sighed again. Maybe I should take the dream to be just what it was…a weird dream. I shook my head got rid of any more thoughts of the dream and started my morning. I made my bed, the creaky wooden frame shaking as I smoothed the wrinkly sheets. My room. A tiny space carved out from a storage room down in the basement. Just a few days ago, this room was a cluttered storage area, packed to the brim with boxes, old furniture, and dusty ornaments. It was a chaotic mess, with barely enough room to squeeze through the narrow pathways between the stacks of stuff. Looking around, I felt a sense of pride and accomplishment. I had decluttered everything, stacking them up in one corner of the room. Even though it was still cramped, I had created a manageable area for myself. I took a quick shower and headed out to the kitchen not wanting Anne to barge in again with her loud voice, yelling about how I’m no longer a princess but a slave and should act like one. Just as I exited my room, a hand suddenly grabbed me and pinned me to the wall. “Didn’t I summon you, Sabrina?” a low, deep voice boomed throughout the basement.Damon's POV"I killed you! I drive the knife through your chest!"It felt like a hand was squeezing around my heart seeing her like this. Just what had she seen to make her react this way? Me dying?"Breathe, little mouth. Calm down. I've got you." I cooed, running my hand through her hair as her head rested on my shoulders. At last, the violent sobs were quieted down. Her breath still hitched, but she was not choking on her tears anymore. She withdrew and looked at me with swollen eyes.“Damon,” she whispered hoarsely, “my visions… they always come to pass. I’m so scared.”I hissed, the sound coming out of me before I could prevent it. When I heard she was a gifted wolf, I was elated, thinking how she'd be able to protect herself properly once her wolf surfaces. Her seeing visions made me think she had the upper hand, but boy was I wrong. It irked me knowing the state her visions always left her in. I rubbed my thumb up against her wet cheek and cleaned her tears."Have you forgotte
Damon's POVIan’s mindlink had reached me earlier—she was awake. The thought should have steadied me, but instead it made me restless and impatient. I wanted to be done here, to get back to her and hear her voice without the eyes of a hundred men staring.Alpha Grauff rose first, his voice pitched to carry across the hall. “You have refused to attend our monthly alpha council meetings, even as the chairman, so we have come to you instead.”Another followed quickly—Alpha Jim, always eager to make himself useful. “The council cannot function properly without a chairman. Seeing as you are not present, we have decided to take another Alpha as chairman.”I tipped my head back, watching the painted ceiling blur into meaningless swirls. The room leaned toward one conclusion. I already knew seeing them exchange looks. They wanted me out. They thought themselves subtle, but their hunger for power was easy to read.“So,” I said, letting a smirk edge into my voice, “what would you have me do? O
Sabrina’s POVThe silence in the room had been as though a comprehension on its part that something primitive was to be unleashed.I reached for him. My fingers touched his hand in the back. It was as though holding a live wire.“Damon,” I said softly. “Let it go.”He didn’t move at first. His eyes, keen and cold, were directly upon the other fellow, Gerald, who was a type of Alpha who confused bulk with power. The crowd was murmuring around us, too frightened to look. Then, slowly, the jaw of Damon relaxed. There was a slow relaxation, an apparent withdrawal of the edge. It was as though he were a storm that was half-striking. The air became less sluggish, and people forgot how to breathe. But Gerald could not restrain himself. Men like him rarely did.“And who you is,” he yells, “to interrupt when Alphas are speaking?”Bravado in his voice, whatever less, fear perhaps concealed with a thin veneer.“She’s my woman,” Damon said. Calmly. Too calmly. The type of peace that was full of v
Sabrina’s POVI sighed, throwing the duvet off me. I moved without thinking, my legs carrying me to wherever until I stopped in front of Damon’s room. I didn’t even realize I was heading here. My chest sank. What am I doing here?I stared at the door in front of me and drew in a shaky breath. I was fully dressed in my silk pyjamas, nothing about the way I dressed was inappropriate so I was sure he wouldn’t misunderstand. After my talk with Anne, her words clung to me like burrs. *Damon doesn’t see you as a woman.*That was the only sentence that remained with me after Anne left. I didn’t really consider her warning regarding Danielle and Urmi, after spending time in the pack, I already knew I wasn’t the only one chasing after Damon’s heart. They say you can’t advise someone in love. Now I understand why.My knuckles tapped lightly against the door but I was met with silence. Was he asleep?I pressed my ear against the door. There were sounds but it was hard to make out. I knocked aga
Amaria's POVWith a violent sweep of her arm, she sent the entire table crashing to the floor. Glass shattered. Candles toppled, spilling wax. Dried herbs scattered like ash, their scent lost under the fire of her rage. The coven members stood back, terrified, their gazes lowered, bodies trembling. No one dared to come nearer or stop her.Amaria’s chest heaved up and down, the fumes of her rage nowhere near dying down. After all these years, he still didn’t choose her? The pain of rejection was unbearable. She screamed until the birds outside her residence flew away. Then she sank to her knees, wheezing as it became unbearable to breathe.“How could he?” she kept repeating, tears falling down her face. Her subordinates grimaced at her. They were over it at this point. How could their leader be this distraught over a man? A werewolf male, at that.Amaria hadn’t always been like this.Nine hundred and ninety-nine years ago, she had been respected by all. Young, beautiful, powerful. And
“So you mean it’s been six months since you last had sex with your husband?” Jessica exclaimed, her jaw almost to the floor.Catherine sighed, taking a sip of her martini. Her best friend’s reaction was very valid.“I fear I’ll jerk like a virgin if a man even touches me,” Catherine lamented. “Matthew returns from work when I’m asleep and leaves before I wake up. I tried going to his office, but his secretary stopped me, saying he was busy. I’m so fucking sex-deprived!” She poured out her frustration.Jessica bit her lips, shifting closer to Catherine. The music in the bar was intruding on their conversation.“What if he’s cheating?” Jessica asked in a hushed tone.Catherine froze for a moment, as if considering the idea, but she immediately shook her head. “Don’t put such ideas into my head, Jess. You know Matthew is not like that.” She felt guilty that she had doubted him even for a second. Her best friend didn’t know what she was saying.Jessica doesn’t know Matthew like I do. He’l
