Chapter 39

Marissa

“What kind of punishment should you receive for being late to dinner?” Antonio asks the second the door closes behind him.

I whip around to look at him. He is leaning against the closed door with a stern expression as he waits for an answer to his question. I bite my lip and wring my hands in front of me. “B-but I needed to finish my writing.” I look at him through my lashes trying to make myself look innocent and sweet in hope of escaping punishment.

He folds his arms across his chest and raises one dark brow. I take a cautionary step backwards. It has been at least two weeks since he spanked me and my behind has been thankful for that. He pushes away from the door and takes a step towards me. The look on his face is that of a predator stalking on its prey.

“You know that dinner is at seven. You know that I disapprove of tardiness. And you know that you get punished when you misbehave.”

“Antonio, please. It was only ten minutes.” I beg him and take another step back.
