"You can't say that." Dad shook his head. "You can't give up hope of ever finding love again. That's all that matters."

"I'll find love again and then what, I'll lose her too?". I spat. "She used to tell me she had bad luck but maybe I was the one with the bad luck. If I'd not come home from America, she'd still be alive. If I'd not befriended her and then fallen for her like the idiot I was and still is, she'd be alive."

"Things happen for a reason Son. What if she wasn't meant to live past the age of seventeen? What then? You'll hold yourself accountable for the rest of your life?". He asked.

"I don't want to talk about it." I turned my back to him.

"No! This is the mistake I made... letting you go and causing you to shut everyone out." He walked around to stand in front of me. "I came here specifically for you. I want to sort whatever it is out with you. I want my son back."

"I don't want to talk about it dad." I repeated through gritted teeth. "Let it go."
