Micha was very aware of the tiny woman next to him as they got off the plane. It was like the air around him was charged in a different way. He didn’t like coming back to the place he had grown up. His family wasn’t proud of his accomplishments they only saw that he left the family’s business when they said they needed him the most. He knew it was more like he had left to give them one less mouth to feed. Soon after the ranch had become finically stable and was able to grow.
When he also started to thrive in the business world it made him very much the proverbial fish out of water trying to climb a tree when he was back. Micha and Sophia were the center of the circle that had gathered around them after everyone had got their bags and they were ready to go. Micha’s voice boomed over the crowd as he explained what was happening next to the rest of them. As he called out names to be in smaller groups everyone was watching Sophia more closely as her name wasn’t called.“We will be traveling over to the car rental. Make sure you are with your group. Since of the sheer number of us it will take a few trips. I will go first and start the process. One person for each group with be the driver. Once we have the cars I will tell you the address and give you the instructions on how to get there to the ranch.” Micha said and then turned as the group broke off into threes and they waited as they all wanted to get him more to themselves. Micha started the tour with the main office. During the time, they could see cars starting to arrive from the dirt path. It seemed they were racing to get there and be the first ones there. Micha chuckled when he saw the sight before, knowing they all thought he would be in charge and again they would be trying to get his attention. His brothers were the ones in charge, and they wouldn’t take kindly to some of the antics of these people he had working for him. The rest of the people had arrived in groups and were walking around the common areas of the ranch waiting for the next instructions. They saw Micha and Sophia ride in from their small gallop and watched her as she dismounted the horse and walked it back into the stables. She brushed the horse down and then gave him some extra oats. Micha wasn’t far behind her. When she was walking out of the stall he looked her over again and it was like seeing her with new eyes.Sophia had not only impressed his mother to the point she had talked to his father about the younger woman but she had impressed his brothers and father as well. Micha helped Sophia get right with her clothes and then he straightened himself as well. Though he had no doubt one of his brothers had been close enough to possibly overhear something he knew nothing would be said to the pair. If anything it would be the opposite and they would have made sure people went away. The two were being watched by everyone at the dinner. Their co-workers were eyeing them both close and his family was watching the other people. Sophia hated being the center of attention.
