Stephen immediately kissed Amber, Amber's eyes widened at what Stephen did and so did the people around them. It's actually normal for them to see couples kissing in front of them, but what's not normal is that they see Amber doing that thing, kissing someone in front of them. They never saw Amber in college doing it or having a relationship because their acquaintance with Amber was only focused on studies and herself.

Stephen himself also stopped kissing Amber and looked directly into Amber's eyes, the shock in Amber's appearance still did not disappear.
