Kaida Pov

Leo’s pillow rolled out.

My heart skipped a beat.

But what happened next was even more painful. I watched helplessly as one of the wolves ran towards me and stepped heavily on the pillow.

My heart bled immediately.

“No!!”

I shook my head desperately as I cried out. I didn't care about my wound or the danger I was in anymore. I rushed forward like I had lost my mind.

The run pulled my injury, but I didn't care. All I could think of was the contents I cherished scattered on the floo

Kaida PovLo and behold, I had been in the Northern pack for almost a month.I’d have never thought I would one day stay in this chaotic pack or even get acquainted with the Alpha who is said to be the most powerful. But here I am today, sitting in a corner of the pack, watching people move about doing their businesses without being attacked. It’s been days, and I didn’t want to stay indoors anymore. I felt suffocated, but I was scared to come out.The last incident where the wolves had almost pounced on me was still clear in my mind. But Hannah had noticed my plight and informed Kabir, who then warned the pack members not to attack me.I had been shocked by the acts of both mother and son, but my heart felt their warmth. Though they were both rough in their doings and speeches—the typical Northern style—they never disdained me or hastened me to make a decision.I breathed in the refreshing scent of the rain, then tightened the thick blanket around my body. This is the second time I s

Ken PovThe loud ringing of my phone woke me up.I scrambled to pick it up from the bedside table, and without checking who the caller was, I picked it up.I made a groggy sound. But the background noise I heard made my eyes snap open in alarm.Loud cries echoed in the background. My heart jumped, but then it settled as I recognized the voice.Samantha.My face flashed with annoyance.“What’s this?” I asked, my voice hoarse and impatient. The cries became even louder, but I could hear Audrey’s worried voice trying to calm Samantha.“Ken, when are you coming back? Samantha misses you and wants to see you.”I let out a groan and massaged the side of my forehead.I trailed my gaze to the window and was stunned to see the dark sky. With shock, I looked at what the time said on my screen and was even more surprised.1:45am? How come it’s already this late? For days, I hadn’t slept well, but shockingly, the moment I lay on the small bed that belonged to Leo, I fell asleep. And it was for ho

Ken PovI got down from the car that was driven by Joel, who wouldn’t allow me to drive.Standing in front of the familiar but unfamiliar house, my heart pounded. This was the place I had always been reluctant to come to, but now, I found myself not wanting to be anywhere else but here.Even if I knew the people who had always waited for me here were gone…But—I just couldn’t help myself.I stared in a daze for some minutes, and only when it started to drizzle did I lift my legs and walk to the corridor.I bent down and brought out the key from the vase, then inserted it into the lock. The door made a creaking noise, like it was asking why its real owners weren’t here.My grip tightened on the handle, but I had no strength to push it open.My chest felt tight. My body felt heavy. But when I clenched my fist and felt the soft touch of the hair band in my hand, I gained the strength to push the door open.Silence welcomed me back. The once lively and warm house had become cold and cove

Ken PovMy eyes widened.“Alpha!”Their voices echoed loudly as they rushed to hold me.For a moment, I couldn’t come back to my senses. My body felt numb, like all strength had been drained out of me in an instant. I stared blankly at the hair band which Kaida had always used. This hair band is so familiar because it was chosen by me for her, and Kaida had always cherished and used it ever since.I remembered that day clearly… how she had looked at it with a small smile, like it was something precious. Something she didn’t deserve. Now—That same hair band, which had always been washed and carefully kept by her, was dirty and stained with dry blood.Yes… blood! My fingers trembled. My vision blurred for a second. My heart hurt, and breathing became difficult, like something heavy was pressing against my chest, not allowing me to breathe properly. Finally, I pushed their hands away and snatched the hair band from Joel’s hand. I clenched it tightly, almost desperately, and feeling the

Ken Pov The car drove speedily on the road. I stared ahead anxiously, wishing I could fly there. I hadn't been able to rest these past few days. Not only feeling guilty about Leo, but also worried about Kaida. I had hoped that she’d come back to the pack if she saw how dangerous it was outside. But— My heart pounded heavily, and I let out a painful groan. Unconsciously, I stepped on the brake of the car, and my body fell forward so fast that I wasn't able to stabilize myself. With a loud sound, my forehead hit the steering wheel, and a sharp pain pierced through my whole head. I sucked in cold air, but I didn't have time to care about that. I stared ahead in a daze, my heart beating so fast that it could jump out of my chest. What just happened?! I let out a groan and clenched my chest. My brows furrowed. It can't be, right? She can't be harmed. She’ll certainly be fine. While driving, my heart had felt a sharp cut. The same image I had seen on the day I had gone

Ken PovHe hung up.My heart skipped as I stared at the darkened screen. What could be the problem? For Joel, who was always calm to sound that panicked… something had to be wrong.A cold feeling crept into my chest. What if it was about Kaida? My grip on the phone tightened unconsciously.I had already lost Leo… I couldn’t lose her, either.Or worse—What if they had found her… the same way?I sucked in a sharp breath and pushed the thought away immediately.No. I couldn’t think like that. Not now.Whatever it was, I needed to get there first.I tightened my hold on the phone and rose to my feet.“Ken.”A tired breath left me at the call of my name.Audrey stepped closer, her brows drawn together with concern.“Where are you going? Who called?”My gaze flicked from the phone to her.“I need to leave. Joel sounded urgent. Something’s wrong.”I didn’t wait for her reply before moving to leave, but suddenly, a weight locked around my legs.I stopped.Looking down, I saw Samantha clingin
