POV: Ronan Montague

The holding room smelled like fear and regret.

I sat on the concrete bench with my hands cuffed in silver-lined restraints that burned against my skin. Standard protocol for violent offenders, they'd explained. Like I was some kind of rabid animal that might attack the guards if given the chance.

Maybe they were right. I'd killed someone yesterday. Crushed Tybalt's throat while he was submitting, crossed the line from self-defense into murder so fast I didn't realize it was happening until his body went limp in my jaws.

The mate bond ached constantly. Juliana's pain echoed through our connection, mixing with my own guilt and horror until I couldn't tell where my emotions ended and hers began. She was grieving. Furious. Torn apart by impossible choices I'd forced on her.

And she hadn't visited. Hadn't called or texted or given any indication that she believed my version of events over what the witnesses claimed they'd seen.

The door opened and my father walked in.

POV: Ferdinand KingWe reached the service entrance to find it blocked by a dozen Alliance guards."Going somewhere?" My father's voice came from behind the security line. "I have to admit, the rescue attempt was bold. Stupid, but bold.""Let them go," I said. "You wanted me. Here I am. Release Miranda and Prospero.""Why would I do that when I can have all three of you? My wayward son, the reality manipulator, and the exile who's been a thorn in Alliance politics for twenty years." He moved closer. "This worked out better than I'd hoped.""You planned this. The whole rescue attempt.""I created conditions that made rescue seem like your only option. Then I waited for you to prove exactly how predictable you are when someone you love is threatened." His smile was cold triumph. "You chose love over strategy. Emotion over logic. Which makes you fundamentally unsuited for leadership.""Or it makes me fundamentally different from you.""That's the same thing. Leaders can't afford sentime

  • Star-Crossed Wolves: Silver Moon Rising   "The Impossible Decision"

POV: Ferdinand KingMy father's message arrived at dawn: Come home immediately. Your cooperation earns Prospero's release. Your refusal ensures his execution.I stared at the text, knowing exactly what cooperation meant. Return to the Southern Alliance. Accept my role as heir. Abandon Miranda and everything we'd fought for in exchange for her father's life.A deal designed to tear me apart regardless of which choice I made.Miranda found me on the cottage porch, staring at the message like it might change if I looked long enough. "What's wrong?""My father has Prospero. He's offering a trade. Me for your father's freedom."Her face went white. "That's not a trade. That's a trap.""Probably. But it's also the only chance your father has. The Council won't challenge my father's custody. And Prospero won't survive long in Alliance prisons given his condition.""So you're just going to surrender? Let your father win?""I'm going to save someone who deserves saving. Your father protected y

  • Star-Crossed Wolves: Silver Moon Rising   "The Aftermath"

POV: Desi WhitmoreThe ambulances arrived twenty minutes later with police escort.Paramedics separated us immediately. Emilia to one ambulance for her gunshot wound. Ian to another for his head injury. Otto into a police car because witnesses reported him shifting and attacking.I tried to explain what happened. How Ian had manipulated Otto for months. How the gun had escalated a confrontation that Otto was trying to de-escalate by walking away. How everything that happened was self-defense in response to a weapon. The police listened politely and took notes. But their expressions said they'd already decided Otto was the aggressor. The violent Omega who'd tracked down someone and attacked them on a remote highway."I want to speak to a lawyer," Otto said quietly from the police car. "And I want Desi to know I'm sorry. For everything.""You can apologize later," the officer said. "Right now you're being detained for assault and possibly attempted murder.""He was defending himself!" I

  • Star-Crossed Wolves: Silver Moon Rising   "The Race Against Time"

POV: Desi WhitmoreI got Emilia's panicked text at 3 PM: Otto found Ian. Things going bad. Location attached. Need help NOW.My hands shook as I read the coordinates. Two hours north of campus. Two hours of Otto confronting the person who'd manipulated him while still unstable from the blood moon. This was going to end badly. I could feel it in my bones."I need a car," I told Cassio, who was recovering in his dorm room. "Otto's in trouble and I'm the only one who might be able to talk him down.""You mean Otto, the guy who almost killed me last night?" He sat up despite visible pain. "Desi, maybe let the authorities handle this one.""The authorities don't understand what Ian did to him. They'll treat Otto like a criminal instead of someone who was systematically manipulated into violence.""He is a criminal. He attacked multiple people during the blood moon.""Because Ian calculated exactly what it would take to break him. Timed everything for maximum psychological damage during th

  • Star-Crossed Wolves: Silver Moon Rising   "The Pursuit"

Otto MoorlandWe took Emilia's car because I didn't trust myself to drive. The rage simmering beneath my skin made focus difficult. Every few minutes, I'd feel my control slipping, my wolf demanding we shift and hunt properly instead of relying on human transportation."Talk to me," Emilia said after an hour of tense silence. "Tell me what you're thinking.""I'm thinking about how many lives he destroyed. How he studied us like experiments and calculated exactly what it would take to break each person." My hands clenched into fists. "He knew I'd believe lies about Desi. Knew the blood moon would strip away my ability to think rationally. Knew I'd become violent enough to hurt innocent people.""He knew because he'd been observing you for months. Learning your patterns, identifying your vulnerabilities, waiting for the perfect moment to exploit everything he'd discovered.""So he's a predator. That's what you're saying. Someone who hunts people psychologically instead of physically.""

  • Star-Crossed Wolves: Silver Moon Rising   "The Omega's Madness"

POV: Otto MoorlandI woke up in the medical wing with no memory of how I'd gotten there. My body ached from injuries I couldn't recall receiving. Bandages covered my arms and chest, and the antiseptic smell mixed with something darker that made my wolf whimper with distress."You're awake." Nurse Quickly appeared beside my bed, relief evident on her face. "How are you feeling?""Confused. What happened?""You don't remember the old library? The blood moon?"Fragments came back slowly. The meeting request from Emilia. Arriving at the basement. Fighting with Cassio while the building collapsed around us. Then nothing but red haze and instincts I couldn't control."Did I hurt someone?" My voice came out hoarse, afraid of the answer."You hurt several people. Cassio is in surgery. Two security guards have broken bones. You nearly killed Desi trying to get to someone you thought was threatening her."The words hit like physical blows. I'd attacked Desi. The person I loved most in the world
