Chapter Twenty-One: I can't stand him

"Ah...," I exhale feeling very relieved as I enter the kitchen.

It was quiet and Chloe wasn't disturbing me about, Lucas.

Where is Mr. Martin, I thought.

I didn't see him pass us after he enter the kitchen.

I heard loud laughter outside. It sounded like a couple of elderly men laughing.

I place my dirty dish into the sink. I parted the light blue kitchen curtain and peek to see what was happening outside. It was Mr. Martin and the next elderly man I saw at the house upon the hill, talking, Luca's father. They were chatting away and laughing, enjoying their conversation.

"Dad," I saw Lucas approaching them.

Immediately, I pull back the curtain. I didn't want to see him.

I got myself busy and started to wash the plates.

"Hah... hah...," I heard Lucas laughing and joining on their conversation as well.

I started to wash the plates hurriedly, so I could get out of the kitchen and away from the noise.
