Rapunzel

My heart was beating so fast I thought it would jump out of my body. I turned to stare at Noah but he had his eyes narrowed at the door like he was planning on attacking my mother. He didn’t like the way my mother locked me up and used my hair that much I could tell from his questions but she was my mother and I couldn’t change that.

“Rapunzel, I am waiting don’t make me break this door!” my mother snapped and I jerked out of my thoughts.

I opened my mouth to speak but my throat was dried. I had to swallow hard on my saliva to be able to bring out even a gasp as panic slowly slipped into my bones. I ran to the door and held it.

“Mo –mother!” I called with a stammer.

“Rapunzel open this door!” she screamed.

I turned to stare at Noah with pleading eyes. He had to leave the center of the room before I could open the door or there would be trouble –more trouble than either of us bargained for. We stayed this way for less than two seconds but it felt like an entire hour had passed
