The ride back to the clubhouse felt like moving through the bones of a dead city.

The flashing red-and-blue glow of emergency lights faded behind them. Sirens thinned into nothing. The roar of engines became the only sound the night had left.

Ashley sat beside Nolan in the lead van. His shirt was soaked with blood again. He wouldn’t sit down. Wouldn’t let anyone else drive. Stubborn bastard held the wheel with his uninjured arm, jaw locked, knuckles nearly white.

“You are bleeding again,” Ashley murmured.

“I am fine.”

He wasn’t. But she knew better than to argue. Nolan wasn’t done until his people were safe behind Viper walls.

Jax rode shotgun, staring out the window like he could still see Delgado crawling toward Ashley. Cole checked the side windows every few seconds, gun resting on his knee.

Ramirez slumped beside him, exhausted but alert. “You all did good,” he muttered. “Better than good.”
