LUKE'S POV

The look on Quentin's face was one hell of a surprise.

I could see the utter shock and surprise as he read through those letters in his hands.

I was hoping for the opposite. By them, I would assume he had known about it and was just pretending.

However, I was the one who got shocked also, he kept exclaiming at every sentence he read through.

Those were my late father's old letters.

They were handwritten to my mother and it was about the inheritance.

Luke’s POVI had never been this indecisive my entire life. Was it the sympathy or the fact that I just wanted to do things right?Uncle Charles ought to be arrested for this but I guess a bunch of letters and assumptions cannot do just that.We had to find something concrete.“I’m gonna have to pay Uncle Charles a visit,” I uttered to Quentin who seemed to be lost in thoughts.“I don't think that's a good idea. You are only going to scare him off if really he is behind all of this….what is the other bitch saying?” He questioned.“What other bitch?”“The one with the woman you are trying to steal from me!”“Pffff….” I scoffed. He still had it in him and I wasn't less either but I was more keen on getting to the root of the matter than picking a fight with him.“If you mean Mara, then she is working on it already. With her leading, we could have a witness who might just be able to shed more light on this,” I said, hoping to get a reaction.“Can we trust her as well?” He asked.I smirke

Is this for real?” He asked again, turning the letters upside down like he was expecting the ink to fall off or something.“You don't want to know who is behind all of this….” I interrupted his moment.“Don't tell me its mother,” he vented.“I doubt she even got these letters. She doesn't know, man,” I answered with a hint of certainty in my voice.“So who then?”“It's Uncle ... .Uncle Charles….he knew abou

QUENTIN'S POVI snapped.“If I continue like this, I just might complicate things for myself…”“What do I do?”I paced around the prison cells like a convict planning an escape. I could see the warden's harsh look on me like he was about to rush in and punch me in the face for distorting his line of sight.“Are they trying to turn things on me? Why would they think I am behind the coverup?”I mean, I know how crazy it sounds but I wasn't all that evil to think or do such a thing to Palmer Holdings.I had no idea what to do. Staying here was no child's play. Whilst I was enjoying, tackling Thora with the power I had from here, I totally forgot to see the mess I was creating for myself.I was in prison. Going for court hearings every now and then like a criminal awaiting to be permanently put behind bars. The first few weeks seemed free but now even the officers are beginning to doubt I'd win this case.“I can't be stupid,” I voiced out.“If there is any redemption, it is to get out of

THORA'S POVQuietness. It's been a while since I had such. It was as though the world had suddenly got quiet and everyone was exhausted. It's been three days since we all heard from Mara..Quentin doesn't seem to place any call anymore like he had given up or something. Luke, on the other hand, seem to always be in a rush each time we make contact.Maybe this would just have to be it till the next court hearing and the noise could begin once more.My innocent Avis came up and sat beside me gently. Her eyes burrowed into mine like she was seeing something I couldn't.“Are you fine, mommy?” Her voice came to my ears, softly and sonorously like I hadn't heard her voice in a while.“Mommy is okay, Avis. You have absolutely nothing to worry about,” I answered with a soft pat on her head as I pulled her close and gently for a side hug.My eyes kept swerving back to my phone like a call was supposed to come in but there wasn't….I didn't want to reach out. No one was also calling so why forc

LUKE'S POVI paused.A train of thoughts raced through my mind as I got into my private suite.Thora must think I am running mad with my propositions but I know I am onto something. If Quentin is the least to be suspected to be behind the coverup, then the only explanation has to be what I have come up with.A crazy idea came to mind and it involved going through some of my late father's stuff.“Sir,” one of the staffs in the company called out.“Is it here already?” I asked out of curioisity.“Yes, Sir…but there is someone here to see you….”“And who would that be?”“Mr. Johnson, he said he has an appointment with you, Sir.”My mind almost went blank for a minute. I totally forgot I had texted him to meet me up at the office.“Uhm, let him in and I need the package in here as well…and after all of that, cancel every other appointment I have for the day.”“Uhn?” The staff echoed as the word itself was surprising to hear.“Yes…do that immediately..”The package arrived just in time a

THORA'S POVEverywhere is calm. The tension has grown bigger than it used to.The same report that seemed to stare in my eyes now look like a bigger document containing deeper secrets. The list of the executives board names were arraigned and Luke kept lookin by them and trying to mark out the least suspected.“You look disturbed by the call previously…” I uttered as I moved closer to him.I couldn't help but notice how divided his mind was.A part of it showed worry and another showed concern. After all, this might just be going in a direction no actually saw coming…“Its just the lawyers calling. Quentin was caught violating some restrictions rules in there and the authorities don't want to take it so lightly with him..” he explained.I chuckled on the inside….”That’s deserving…” but the expression on Luke's face says completely otherwise. So I replied with the most innocent response I could think of, “Hmmmm…”I was about to say more when Mara's heavy sigh c)aaed both our attention

Thora’s POVI was standing in the hallway and was not moving and the note that was in my hand felt like biting me.The building was quiet. Too quiet. No footsteps. No elevator hum. No door bang bang bang bang.Nothing but the faint hum of the fluorescent light above and my heart, beating its way

Thora’s POVI did not remember the way I got to the car.I could not recall how my hand was held by Cara and she led me into the doors of the courthouse. I had no recollection of the stair, or the crowds to whom I must have been as familiar as your own name, or of the guards screaming at me to move

Thora’s POVMonday morning felt too bright. It was the kind of brightness meant for peaceful breakfasts, for sunshine falling softly across a balcony—not for an emergency hearing and lawyers handing you paper bags to breathe into.I woke up before my alarm. Not because I had gotten enough rest....I

Cara’s POVWhen the office was emptied it was near the middle of the night. The copy machine had now died down to a hum and the only sounds that remained were the ticking of the wall clock and the humming low hiss of the city beyond. I had asked everybody to retire to his home hours ago, but I coul
