"You need a new haircut, darling"

My mother's hand trailed Justin's hair, while he drove. With a heavy chest, I sat in the backseat watching the absurdity happen. She had waited until they discharged me, which I hated, as I thought I would be the only one in Justin's car.

I had mostly felt disgust if my mother touched any of my stepdads, but for Justin, it was certainly jealousy.

"If Olivia were married, her husband would have picked her up from the hospital, but unfortunately…"

"There's nothing unfortunate about it." I cut in.

She slightly turned back to look at me and then was back to facing her husband. Justin's eyes met mine in the front mirror and my frown deepened. He shouldn't allow her to touch him while I am here.

"Why does a woman still live with her parents? Have you no shame, You cannot do anything. No real job except for daddy's benefit, no man…"
