Lily:

I woke up the next morning and for one disoriented second, I thought maybe I’d dreamed it.

The fever, the party, Mason hovering like some overgrown bodyguard all of it.

But then I rolled over and my lips brushed the back of my hand, and I remembered. The kiss.

Oh God.

It hadn’t been an accident. I couldn’t even lie to myself about that. I’d grabbed him, I’d pulled him down.

And Mason had kissed me back like he’d been waiting for permission. Like he’d been starving for it.

Now I couldn’t get the taste of him out of my mouth.

I groaned and buried my face in the pillow. Maybe if I suffocated myself, my problems would disappear with me.

A knock rattled my door.

“Lily,” Mason’s voice came, deep and annoyingly calm. “Breakfast. Get up.”

I froze, staring at the ceiling. If I ignored him, maybe he’d go away.

The door creaked open anyway.

“Seriously?” I snapped, sitting up. “Ever heard of privacy?”

I rushed out and found Mason. “Have you been crying?” was the first question he asked as soon as saw me. Shit! How did he even know that? “What?
