Rufus – POV

The woods felt wrong.

Every brittle leaf beneath my boots snapped like a warning shot. Twisted shadows clung to the bark of the trees, swallowing the last rays of dusk. Fog slithered low across the forest floor, and with every step forward, the cold sank deeper into my bones. It wasn’t just the chill—it was the feeling that someone was watching. Following. Hunting.

I spun around.

Nothing.

Just the groan of tree limbs and the whisper of wind threading through them like a taunt. My breath puffed visibly, sharp and fast. I didn’t belong here, and I knew it. My gut screamed to turn back, but I pushed forward. I had a purpose. A reason to be here.

The last words she ever said to me rang in my head like a curse: "Don’t let him win, Rufus."

I quickened my pace. The path narrowed, branches clawed at my jacket, and then—

“Going somewhere?” a voice growled from the shadows ahead.

I skidded to a halt.

My blood iced over as a tall figure stepped from the mist, the silver gleam of a bl

Thaila pov A few minutes later. ...disaster I can’t crawl out of?” Enzo didn’t answer right away. He looked down at his hands, fidgeting with the ring he always wore—Dad’s old signet, the one he pretended not to care about but never took off. When he finally met my gaze, his voice was softer than I’d heard it in days. “Then we burn the damn vacation. We leave, start fresh somewhere else if we have to. You’re not trapped, Thalia. You’ve never been.” I blinked at him, surprised by the sudden honesty. That wasn’t the cocky, smooth-talking brother who charmed his way through problems. That was just Enzo. Raw. Real. And maybe a little broken, just like me. “Leaving won’t fix what’s already broken,” I muttered, but some of the venom had drained from my voice. “No,” he agreed, “but it might remind you that you still get to choose who you are. Not Asher. Not Isabella. Not me.” I stared at him, heart twisting painfully in my chest. He wasn’t wrong, but the idea of running felt too muc

Thalia POVI was in my room, curled up on the edge of my bed, braiding and unbraiding the same section of my hair over and over again. My thoughts had been spiralling all morning—something was off in the air, and my gut knew it before I even heard the knock. Two sharp raps on the door.I froze. My eyes snapped to the door like it had growled at me. My pulse kicked into high gear.No one knocked twice in this house unless they were one of Alpha Asher’s guards. And if they came with news, it was rarely the kind that made you smile.I stood up too fast, knees buckling slightly before I caught myself on the edge of my dresser. I smoothed my palms over my jeans and called out, “Hold on! Let me get dressed!”Silence.I frowned, pulling a sweater over my tank top and brushing a hand through my messy hair. Then, a low voice from behind the door: “Alpha Asher said not to be kept waiting.”I rolled my eyes, even though my hands were shaking. “God forbid someone delays royalty for a damn minute,

Enzo – POVBlood dried sticky on my jaw.Every movement burned—ribs cracked, knuckles raw, temple split open from the damn rock Rufus slammed into me. I should’ve killed him. I should have. But I hesitated. My mistake. That bastard fought like he had something to prove. Fought like a man possessed. Like grief had sharpened his bones and rage filled his veins. And for a moment—just a flicker—I saw her in his eyes. Her name hovered at the edge of my memory like smoke. But I refused to reach for it.I gritted my teeth and staggered back into pack territory, dripping blood down the marble steps like a trail of shame. I shoved open the front door of the pack house. The warmth inside didn’t help. It only made the sting of every bruise, every cut, more pronounced.I ignored the curious glances, the half-lowered eyes of the pack members who caught sight of me.Let them wonder.I trudged upstairs, one hand clutching my ribs. My jaw throbbed where he got in a lucky shot. Or maybe it wasn’t luck

Isabella pov It had only been ten minutes since Mai left, and yet it felt like a lifetime had passed in the silence she left behind. Her perfume still lingered faintly in the room, a whisper of comfort and strength, and I clung to it like a lifeline. The second the door clicked shut, I had folded in on myself again—knees drawn to my chest, nails pressed into my skin just to feel something sharp and real. But I couldn’t sit there any longer. Not when I owed Alpha Asher an apology. I didn’t know if it would change anything. I didn’t even know if I could say the words properly with my throat still raw from crying. But I had to try. He deserved at least that. The cold tile floor stung against my bare feet as I walked out of my room, the air sharp and biting, as if the whole pack house had sensed the storm churning inside me. I wrapped my arms around myself, swallowing hard, ignoring the way my head ached and my eyes burned. I hadn’t even looked in a mirror, but I could feel it—how swo

Mia pov"What's wrong with you, Isabella?" I hissed, pacing toward her like my boots had something to prove. "First, it was you acting all weird about that Alpha Enzo, now—"I paused, pressing my lips together before shaking my head. My arms crossed over my chest like a shield. My voice dropped, but it hit even harder. "Now, you’ve had a full-blown fight with him and his sister. And somehow, you managed to drag your mates into it too. Isabella, what the hell is going on with you?"She didn’t look up. Didn’t flinch. Didn’t even breathe, as far as I could tell. Her fingers twisted in the hem of her hoodie like she was holding herself together with frayed cotton and broken silence."You’re the talk of the entire packhouse. No, scratch that—your mother heard about it. Your mother, Isa. Do you have any idea what that means?"Still nothing. My boots clicked as I walked around her, trying to catch her eye. Nothing. Her gaze was fixed to the floor, like if she stared hard enough it would crac
